22 After working in the furniture industry for most of his life, Mike Younger founded Younger Furniture in Since then we have expanded several times, built a brand, and defined our style but one thing has stayed the same: All Younger Furniture is bench built from start to finish in North Carolina. Quality, tailoring and comfort are things we are never willing to compromise. Mike is still at the helm of Younger where he takes a very hands on approach to manufacturing and operations. 24 Younger Cut and Sew The process begins Important steps come into play before and after the bench building process at Younger. Cutting and sewing are two of the most important and detail oriented. Pieces are cut by hand and meticulously laid out to insure a perfect match across all elements of the piece. 24

25 All pieces are sewn by hand where the same care is taken to make sure all seams are matched and reinforced. 25

27 Younger Frames: It s What s on the Inside that Counts All frames made from 5/4 and 4/4 kiln dried solid hard woods, double doweled, corner blocked, glued and stapled ALL FRAMES HAVE A LIFETIME WARRANTY Using only wood harvested in the US from forests certified by the Sustainable forest initiative 27

28 The steps we take to get our frames build ready are some of the most important for quality, durability and comfort Before upholstering, all frame opening and edges are covered in this black propex material and spring cloth for added reinforcement 28 On top of the propex, a layer of foam is always added before the fabric is upholstered. This is known as double padding and it adds both strength and comfort to each piece.

29 We use sinuous springs for suspension as they provide both the best value and the best comfort. Legs are built into many of our frames for strength and durability We offer a variety of gorgeous wood and metal bases. Always made from hardwood or stainless steel. 29

30 Bench Built from start to finish in North Carolina since 1989 What exactly is bench built? It means a single skilled upholster takes a raw frame and builds it from the frame state to a finished product. This method results in the absolute best quality, tailoring and attention to detail. With the clean and intricate lines and details we put into our furniture at Younger, this method is the absolute staple of our process. Beginning of bench built process 30

32 Younger Cushions: Standard, YLUX, and Feather and Down Back Cushions: Standard back cushions are channeled and filled with polyester fiber, Feather and down backs are channeled and filled with a mixture of feather, down and fiber. Younger Standard seat cushions are made using a 2.0 density high resiliency foam (above industry standard of 1.8), wrapped in polyester fiber, and encased in a non woven ticking material. Standard cushions offer a 10 year warranty. 32

33 All foam used by Younger meets CertiPur Guidelines Younger YLUX cushions are made using a 2.5 density high resiliency foam, wrapped in polyester fiber, and encased in a down proof ticking material. YLUX cushions offer a LIFETIME WARRANTY. Younger Feather and Down cushions are made using a 2.0 density high resiliency foam and wrapped in an envelope filled with a mixture of feather, down and fiber. Feather and down cushions offer a 10 year warranty. 33

34 Complete and ready to make your house a home But nothing leaves before going through a rigorous final inspection where all details are checked with a fine tooth comb one last time This station is by no means our first inspection station, in fact is our 5th! We have stations for inspection after cutting, sewing, spring up and upholstery. We take extra steps to make sure our product is up to the Younger standard. 34
