1 Dyestuff & Pigment Database Introduction & User Guide Part I: the Introduction of Dyestuff & Pigment Database Dyestuff & Pigment Database (ChemData) contains Products including 5613 Dyestuff Products, 650 Pigment Products, 906 Dyestuff Intermediate and 5000 other Chemical Raw Materials. The Database also contains more than 2000 Suppliers and more than 100 Reports (in Chinese). Our goal is to provide a useful database like an encyclopedia for the people who work in Dyestuff & Pigment fields. We also allow the user to build a database (in My Database) himself. User can input the products, companies, reports and contact person information into the database. And it can be a Chemical Knowledge Manage System. 1. The System Structure in the Database There are two database systems: ChemData and My Database. ChemData has three tables (Sub-database): Products, Suppliers and Reports. The data (in Chinese) in Reports table can be output and save as Word or PDF file. Suppliers Products Reports My Database is a database that the user can input, edit and manage the records himself. The system structure of My Database is similar to ChemData. My Database contains four tables (Sub-database): Products, Suppliers, Report and

2 Employees. The information in Employees can be output to Outlook. Data in Products can be output to Word. Word and PDF file can be input to Reports. Employees Suppliers Products Reports 2. 6 Part II: the User Guide of Dyestuff & Pigment Database 1. Product Searching Double click file chem.exe to run the program of Dyestuff & Pigment Database. Following is main user interface:

7 Select the searching Criteria (Equals, Starts With, Ends With or Contains).

8 For example, search Phenol in Dyestuff & Pigment field; you will get following search result: Double click the searching result record. Open the detailed information of the product. Following is the detailed information of Phenol (Product ID=5242):

9 Click Molecular Structure Select Section, it will show the structure of the product.

10 Input CAS Number in the text box of CAS Number and then click the button, you can check if the CAS Number is valid or not.

11 2. Search by Molecular Structure Click the button of Search by Molecular Structure to open the interface of Structure searching.

12 Draw the Structure, select the Database and Search Type and then click Search. Following is a sample of searching result:

13 3. The searching in Suppliers and Reports Databases are similar to that of Products. Select Suppliers database: Following is the searching interface of Supplier:

16 Part III: the User Guide of My Database The operation of My Database is similar to ChemData. Select My Database and then click Search Button. All the products in My Database will be list in the searching result. Following is the detailed information for the record matched:

17 Click Insert button, you add new product to the My Database.

18 Click the button of Edit up or Downstream Product, you can add or edit the product relationship.

19 Click the button of Edit Supplier-Products List, you can add or edit the Supplier-Products relationship.

20 Similar to this operation, you can add factory information to Suppliers database, add Word or PDF file to Reports database and add contact information to Employees database.

21 Select File Button: Select the file (Word or PDF) to save into My Database. Open Report Button: Open the file in My Database, export to Word or PDF and open it. Report-Product Button: Edit the relationship between Reports and Products. Report-Company Button: Edit the relationship between Reports and Companies. When Editing the Contact information, FactoryID is the SupplierID of the company he/she is working.

22 If you had installed Outlook on your computer, you can click the button of Export to Outlook to output the contact information to Outlook. Lastly, we also have Pharmaceutical Database and Agrochemical Database. If you are interested on these two databases, please contact with us.
