2 TECHNICAL BACKGROUND Graduate Assistantship at System Support Office ( ) -20 hours in a week, I work at the System Support Offıce in the Center for Advanced Computer Studies. Ericsson R&D Internship ( ) - During the internship, I worked in Software Research and Development department. I was given algorithmic problems and asked to solve and implement them efficiently. Every problem had input and running time complexity constraints and hence finding a suitable solution was a challenge. I needed to carefully analyze the problem and optimize my solutions. I frequently needed to use dynamic programming, strategies involving backtracking and greedy algorithms. In some problems, I also needed to use mathematical theorems to optimize the programs such as Euler Formula for Polygonal Nets, Sieve of Eratosthenes, Fermat s Little Theorem, Pick s Theorem and so on. Vestel Electronics R&D Internship ( ) -During the internship, I tested Smart TVs with different user interfaces by writing and running Python scripts. Test scripts traverse the menus and take screenshots regularly. To execute those scripts, send signals and navigate through the menus, we used computers with RC transmitters. I also wrote a program to compare and evaluate the results of TV tests. The program basically compares the screenshots taken with corresponding reference images to see if the menus work right. To compare, I used an image similarity comparison algorithm. Basically if the similarity percentage is above a given threshold, the test is passed. 3 PROJECTS Track-R: An Android Eye Tracking Application: By using opencv library and Android Studio, I implemented an efficient real time eye tracking application, utilizing sparse representations. Application of Multi-Criteria Optimization on Maritime Routing to Prevent Piracy : As my senior project, I worked with three more Computer Engineering students. In the project, we aimed to collect real life data of piracy in maritime logistics and reveal contemporary problems caused by maritime piracy. By using the collected data and seeing the maritime routing problem as a multi-criteria optimization problem (risk, distance, cost minimization while keeping track of delivery schedules and crew condition), we designed a routing algorithm based on genetic approach and we implemented it. CubeSat Operating System Architecture : I am currently working on a CubeSat project with a group of undergraduate students and professors. Project aims to build a CubeSat from scratch which can transmit images from space, and launch it in 2 years. I am doing research to design a fault tolerant operating system. Project Hive : By following Conway s Game of Life principles, I developed an architectural automation system which randomly generates living areas for people, by considering the environmental factors, such as geographical conditions, and architectural constraints. (the placement of private rooms, halls, bathrooms etc. in a building) System aims to generate suitable living environment for space colonization. I modeled the system by using Rhino and its Python add-on. Dijkstra s Algorithm with Mandatory Vertices : I modified Dijkstra s Shortest Path Algorithm so that it could calculate the shortest path which includes the given group of vertices Game Modeling : By playing and reading the source code of the puzzle game 2048, I modeled the game in an algorithmic manner,plotted a general solution algorithm, also calculated the possible maximum score. Fibonacci Sequence Generation with fork() System Call : I wrote a C program using the fork() system call that generates the Fibonacci sequence in the child process. File Copying by Using Ordinary Pipes : I wrote a C program which uses pipes between parent and child processes to copy a file. Affine & Hill Ciphering : By using Affine and Hill Cryptosystems, I designed and implemented a cipher algorithm in Python. Ciphering and Deciphering with Feistel Structure : By using Feistel ciphering structure as a base, I designed and implemented a ciphering algorithm in Python. S-DES Implementation : In Python, I implemented a simplified DES algorithm. Digital Signature Implementation : By using DSA, I implemented a digital signature creation and validation program in Python. Sunflower Umbrella : By using Arduino Microcontroller, I built a sun umbrella which repositions its head and adjusts the position of shadow to make sure that objects under it are always protected from the sunlight.
