7 A Service Organization Matrix environment Scientists get most of their engineering support from AETD Engineers deployed to project team(s) AETD is responsible for engineering processes and technical products, and for delivering in commitments to either Scientists or Projects All engineering for Projects comes via contracted deliverables Clear policies and guidelines Robust internal system of checks and balances Excellence in systems design and implementation World class engineering laboratories and verification & validation facilities
8 We Must be Good to do Good The capability of the Center is only as good as the capability of: People Tools Facilities The foundation for the GSFC Engineering capability is hands-on work Development is a combination of apprenticeship, mentoring and formal training Approximately / of the engineering workforce is engaged in hands-on engineering developments and deliverables In everything we do, we are both delivering on the present commitment, AND preparing ourselves and the people around us for the next one.
