7 Medrian Oy is a Finnish family business with almost 30 years of experience in dentistry and a wide collaboration and development network. The company s business idea is to design, develop, produce and market everyday dental instruments that combine a more comfortable and safer customer experience and a more ergonomic and better working space inside the mouth. Medrian s flagship is HELPie, an instrument used in dental treatment. The disposable HELPie requires no assembling, but adjusts automatically in the patient s mouth. The excellence of the product is based on its three functional qualities: flexible bite block, tongue cone and powerful one-hole suction. With HELPie, it is possible to keep the patient s mouth open throughout the procedure and keep the tongue away from the working area. This guarantees enough space for working and good visibility in the patient s mouth. HELPie considerably shortens the time patients spend in the dentist s chair, which is in the interest of both the customers and the dentist. HELPie is protected, for example, with design protection, and an international patent application under the PCT has been filed. The product had its world premier at the international dental conference and exhibition in Dubai in February 2016, and since then the company has been contacted by operators from across the world. 7

8 8 Muovisola Oy is a subcontractor that specialises in hospital, laboratory and healthcare products. The company has particular expertise in injection moulding, pad-printing and assembly services. During its 20 years of operation, Muovisola has grown from a family business of two people into a high-tech company that employs 20 people and several subcontractors. The company s operation combines the flexibility of a family business and a long history in the manufacture of hospital and laboratory products. The majority of the manufactured products are exported indirectly. The old village school of Sola has been entirely transformed to create a production facility that complies with the specific hygiene regulations and meets the requirements of modern technology. The modern robotic cells, about twenty injection moulding machines and the pad-printing machines in Muovisola s cleanrooms work without interruption in three shifts and produce large batches of plastic parts for laboratory and hospital supplies according to manufacturing contracts.
