11 FP7 Success stories GAP1 - By encouraging cooperative research on challenges of human impact on the marine environment, GAP1 supports the development of innovative fisheries management in Europe. Both science and industry partners of GAP1 are committed to building the capacity to collaborate in participatory research. They will share their experiences and work together to develop fisheries research case studies. SCIENTIX - The community for science education in Europe was created to facilitate regular dissemination and sharing of know-how and best practices in science education across the European Union. SCIENTIX is open for teachers, researchers, policy makers, parents and anyone interested in science education. genset - improves individual and collective capacity for action to increase women s participation in science. It develops practical ways to incorporate gender knowledge and gender mainstreaming expertise into European science institutions. 11

12 FP7 Success stories TECHNOLIFE - has developed a method to map ethical issues at early stages of S&T and policy development and to represent social imaginaries relating to these ethical issues. SYBHEL - examines several aspects of SynBio as it applies to human health and well-being, including: philosophical and social understandings of life (including new human-like entities); appropriate methodology for bioethical analysis in SynBio for health; ethical issues arising in utilising SynBio for health; regulatory and commercial aspects and public policy over the application of SynBio to health care. 12
