3 provides a framework to help: identify Arctic research priorities for the next decade; coordinate various Arctic research agendas; inform policy makers, people who live in or near the Arctic and the global community; build constructive relationships between producers and users of knowledge.

15 IPPI Concept Promote coopera on in research on human and natural processes in the poles and help to iden fy synergies and effec vely use exis ng resources to address important polar issues of common interest. Engage mul ple stakeholders and support the ac vi es that are relevant to societal issues and benefit from enhanced collabora on and coordina on. Specifically, IPPI aims to: Create, upgrade, and maintain necessary polar components of observing assessment, predic on, and services systems; Strengthen interdisciplinary/mul pla orm data collec on, search and rescue, exchange, archival and access, and related interoperability; Build long- term capacity in the communi es of polar scien sts and prac oners providing services; and Develop a common language and coopera ve synergis c rela ons between local peoples, social and natural scien sts, and prac oners.

16 Comments on and input to the IPPI concept are important. Development of the IPPI Implementa on Plan, documen ng the benefits of IPPI to its stakeholders and par cipants, is underway.
