3 Thursday May 15 th 13:30 15:45 Breakout Session TA1 Assessment and harmonisation of methods for future research, monitoring and evaluation of interventions Main Building Room 6A05 Scope: TA1 will conduct SLRs and secondary data analysis and construct a toolbox with assessment methods for diet, physical activity, sedentary behaviour and their determinants. The common objective of these largely parallel research activities is to design and test the feasibility of an innovative instrument that efficiently combines the key exposures and determinants in an integrated method for pan-european research and/or monitoring. In this breakout session, challenging propositions and dilemma s will be put forward by TA1-representatives. This will stimulate the DEDIPAC partners to discuss how this innovative instrument could benefit from the promises of emerging ambulatory monitoring technologies. Agenda: 13:30 13:50 Instrument development for research and monitoring Pieter van t Veer (TA 1 leader, chair of discussion) Starting from a brief overview of the overall workplan and objectives of TA 1, the objective and format of this breakout session will be introduced 13:50 14:20 Diet and its determinants Thomas Kubiak (WP 1.1) 14:20 14:50 PA & SB and its determinants Ulf Ekelund (WP 1.2) 14:50 15:20 Applications in monitoring/surveillance Wolfgang Ahrens (WP 3.2) 15:20 15:45 Forum discussion and wrap up Pieter van t Veer and Ulrich Ebner-Priemer Potential and limitations for incorporating ambulatory monitoring technologies in DEDIPAC and beyond. Identification of issues that need further alignment in TA1 or DEDIPAC-wide.

4 Thursday May 15 th :45 Breakout Session TA2 Determinants of dietary behaviour, physical activity and sedentary behaviour across the life course and in vulnerable groups Main Building Auditorium Scope: TA2 will develop trans-disciplinary frameworks of determinants of dietary, physical activity, sedentary behaviours and social inequalities based on knowledge and practice of the members of the thematic area and systematic literature reviews (SLR). Furthermore, best-practice methods to analyse data based on such frameworks will be developed and tested based on secondary dataanalysis (of pooled data if possible) on research questions that contribute to fill the knowledge gaps in the frameworks. TA2 will also contribute to knowledge on the best methods to measure various determinants. Agenda: 13:30 13:45 Welcome and overview of TA 2 Nanna Lien (TA 2 leader, chair of session) 13:45 14:15 Inventories of EU-studies on determinants what is known already? In this breakout session, a general overview on TA3 will be given, together with an overview on progress within the work packages. Agenda: 13:30 13:50 A toolbox for the development, evaluation and implementation of public policies and multi-component interventions Ilse De Bourdeaudhuij (TA 3 leader) Starting from a brief overview of the overall workplan and objectives of TA 3, the objective and format of this breakouts session will be introduced. 13:50 14:20 Good practice policies and multi-component interventions for dietary, physical activity and sedentary behaviours Gun Roos (WP 3.1) 14:20 14:50 The evaluation and monitoring of public policies Olivier Allais (WP 3.2) 14:50 15:20 The evaluation and monitoring of multi-component interventions Jürgen Steinacker (WP 3.3) 15:20 15:45 Forum discussion and wrap up Ilse De Bourdeaudhuij & Marie Murphy Potential and limitations for the development of the Toolbox.

6 Friday May 16 th 08:30 12:30 Workshop Public Health Challenges (Task 1.1.3) WN Building Room C-659 Scope: This expert workshop will serve as a discussion forum to identify and to prioritize the most important public health challenges related to diet, physical activity/sedentary behaviour, and their determinants across the life course to guide the choice of the novel integrated methods for assessment to be developed within DEDIPAC. With a particular focus on real-life Ambulatory Assessment, experts from the fields of Ambulatory Assessment (Ebner-Priemer) and computer science and engineering (van Laerhoven) contribute to the session to explore possibilities for feasible applications for method development and related mhealth approaches to be developed. Goal: The workshop will result in a decision in terms of (a) which public health challenge to focus for the development of the integrated method and (b) which specific methodological approach to adopt that will be pursued and employed in feasibility pilots within DEDIPAC. 08:30 08:40 Introduction (Thomas Kubiak, JGU Mainz, DE) 08:40 09:30 Q & A - Ambulatory Assessment for capturing diet, physical activity/sedentary behaviour and their determinants in daily life (with Ulrich W. Ebner-Priemer, President of the Society for Ambulatory Assessment, KIT, DE moderation: Thomas Kubiak) 09:30 10:30 Discussion of major public health challenges and decision of focus of integrated method. Specifying the focus of the integrated method in terms of: (1) population; (2) domains of diet, PA/SB, determinants to include; (3) methodological approach. 10:30 11:00 Coffee break (plenary) 11:00-11:30 Technological options for method implementation, feasibility issues (Kristof van Laerhoven, Director Embedded Sensor Systems Lab, TU Darmstadt, DE) 11:30-11:45 Wrap-up and next steps (Thomas Kubiak) 11:45 12:30 Thematic Area 1 Update Session (TA 1 (deputy) leads only)
