To truly be a Smart Nation, we must seize the opportunities in the digital age to improve people s lives. 13 Digital Readiness Council: inclusion efforts require a whole-of-nation approach To provide strategic direction for national DR initiatives and movement. To guide collective efforts across the public, private and people sectors to realise our vision of every Singaporean being ready to seize the benefits and opportunities afforded by technology in everyday life.

14 Some questions under discussion How might we make the process of going digital more desirable for those who are unwilling to do so? What are some of their biggest barriers, and how might we overcome them? What can we do to incentivise organisations to adopt digital inclusion guidelines? Should we develop standards for compliance across relevant industries? How can we incentivise and build up values among the community segments, including youth, leading to ethical and responsible behaviours in cyber space? How can countries catch up with those who are more developed and advanced in tech and e-commerce adoption among citizens and businesses? Challenge: Multi-faceted nature of digital adoption literacy, multi-lingual environment, balance between security fears and benefits, ethical considerations, etc

17 WHY ASEAN Smart Cities? Resilience and Innovation amidst shift in our regional landscape. Urbanisation is crucial for ASEAN s growth 90 million more people expected to urbanise in ASEAN by 2030, with middleweight cities driving 40% of growth. However, rapid urbanisation also poses various challenges Technological and digital solutions as a means to improve people s lives

18 ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) The ASEAN Smart Cities Network (ASCN) is a regional ecosystem to synergise smart city development across ASEAN Collaborative platform which aims to: I. Develop city-specific action plans and a joint framework for smart city development in ASEAN II. Catalyse bankable projects with the private sector III. Secure support from ASEAN s external partners CORE OBJECTIVE Improving people s lives, using technology and innovative nontechnology as an enabler
