Contents Safety Parts List Features Assembly Operation Maintenance Specifications Safety Disassembling the microscope may cause an electric shock or damage to the instrument. Do not disassemble any parts of the microscope not mentioned in the instruction manual. In case of a problem with the microscope, contact Omâno.com, a professional repairman, or the manufacturing factory. Do not touch the bulb while microscope is in use. Bulb will become very hot. Allow bulb to cool before replacing. To prevent fire, do not place combustibles near the bulb. To avoid electric shock or damage to the instrument, unplug the microscope before replacing the bulb. Use only the prescribed halogen or fluorescent bulb. Wear gloves, or cover the bulb with a protective sleeve. Do not touch the glass part of the bulb. Turn off and unplug the microscope before moving. Microscope should be kept at temperatures between 5 C-35 C/41 F-95 F, with a humidity range of 20 to 25 C/77 F. Do not place the microscope in direct sunlight or under direct indoor light. This environment can influence the quality of the specimen imaging. Avoid dust. When not in use, cover the microscope with a dust cover. Keep microscope on a level and sturdy surface. Parts List One Trinocular body with base and condenser Two eyepieces: 2 each wide field 10X One eyepiece with reticle Six objectives (PL4x, PL10x, PL25x, PL40x, PL100x[oil] and FL40x[Glyc]) One blue and one frosted filter One 2.5x & 4x photo tube One Lamp tube support One bottle of immersion oil One bottle of glycerin Trinocular adapter Power Cord Two 6v20w Spare bulbs Power supply (PS2 for Mercury Vapor Lamp)
Mercury Vapor Lamp Box Lightproof Baffle Three Spare Mercury Vapor Lamp Bulbs Spare fuse One manual One dust cover Features The OM FL400 reflected-light fluorescence microscope is used for fluorescence microscopy and transmitted bright field microscopy observation. It is an ideal instrument for research of biology, cytology, oncology, genetics, immunology and etc. It can also be used in scientific research, universities, medical treatment, epidemic prevention and etc. Large, extremely stable, Euro-style base and stand One set of Eyepieces: Widefield 10x Inclined 45 degree binocular head Trinocular tube Revolving Quad nosepiece 6 achromatic objectives: PL4x, PL10x, PL25x, PL40x, PL100x[oil] and FL40x[Glyc] Spring loaded 40x and 100x objectives In-base 6v/20w variable-intensity tungsten halogen lamp for crisp illumination Vertical-light fluorescence light source: 100w Super-high pressure mercury lamp with DC power supply N.A. Abbe condenser with iris diaphragm and filter holder on rackand-pinion movement Two filters: blue, and frosted clear Oversized 130 mm x 140 mm integral mechanical stage with low position coaxial controls. Range of movement 50 x 75 mm Interpupillary adjustment range: mm Graduated, oversized knobs on coaxial coarse and fine (0.002mm) adjustments Owner s manual Assembly Use figures 1 & 2 to aid in assembly. Take the microscope main base out from the foam box and put it on the working table.
Install the trinocular body (head) on the base. Tighten the screw on the right of the base to affix the body. Insert the 10x eyepieces to the tubes. Insert four objectives to the nosepiece in sequence form low magnification to the high magnification. Insure that the objectives tighten to the surface of the nosepiece. A B C D H G F E Fig.1 A. Eyepieces B. Lightproof baffle C. Specimen holder D. Stage E. Light control F. Power switch G. Condenser up-down knob H. Limit knob
Fig. 2 Operation After carefully removing the microscope from the package, check to see if the microscope is the model to which you chose. a. Place on a flat surface. Insert the plug of the power cord into the power cord socket and the other plug into an AC outlet. Switch on the light source and adjust the light intensity for your application.
b. Put a specimen slide into the specimen holder. Choose objective and screw into the nosepiece according to their magnifying power and then choose and insert the needed eyepieces into the eyepiece tubes. c. Turn the nosepiece to bring the required objective into the light path. d. Interpupilary distance (distance between the eyes) can be adjusted by sliding the eyepiece tubes left or right. e. Bring the specimen close to the objective with the coarse adjustment knob until you can get a rough image through the eyepiece. Focus accurately with the fine adjustment knob. f. Regulate the field diaphragm to the smallest, move the condenser up and down to focus on the image of the field iris diaphragm. Use the condenser centering knobs to bring the diaphragm image into the center of the field of view. Increase diameter of field iris diaphragm until it is just outside the field of view. Regulate the diameter of aperture diaphragm and the light intensity of the light source until background intensity is suitable for the image. g. When the 4X objective is in use, the condenser should be lowered until the whole view field illuminated. Put the frosted glass on the holder under the condenser, then rotate it into the field of view. h. After coarse focus has been accomplished, lock the prefocusing lever clockwise rotation, then the stage movement is limited in the upward direction to prevent accidental damage to specimen or objective front lens. i. Adjust the stage movement knobs, move the object into the center of the field of view. j. When using trinocular tube, pull the light path selector knob making 80% light into photo tube and 20% into binocular tub (it should be equipped with micrographic instrument). Push the light path selector knob back, then all light into binocular tube. k. When replacing condenser, first lower the condenser with the condenser height adjustment until it can easily be removed without touching the stage, loosen clamping screw, replace suitable condenser, raise it back work position, then adjust setting center screw to make condenser being in the center of light path. l. When replacing lamp, please turn off the switch and unplug the power cord, and wait for the bulb to cool for 30 minutes before replacing. MAINTENANCE After each use, switch off the power supply, clean the microscope with a piece of soft cloth and wipe off dust and immersion oil deposited on the lens surfaces with a piece of soft cloth moistened with xylene, then cover it with dust caps. If the
microscope is not going to be used for a long period of time, it is best to store it in a wooden box and keep in a cool, dry area free from acid or alkali fumes and moisture.
