4 1. Introduction RED31 is a wave table based VST instrument plug-in for windows. Oscillators: OSC1 & OSC2: Two morphing oscillators; Mix two waveforms, add pulse width and smooth out the waveform. Oscillator 1 has ring modulator, and also modulates the frequency of oscillator 2 (FM). OSC3: The third oscillator is a simpler version with basic controls. Noise Generator: Generates white and pink noises. Filter: An optimized state variable filter with LP, BP, HP with 12 and 24 db modes. Modulators: Two mod envelopes and two tempo synced LFOs that can be routed to control some of the main parameters of the plug-in. FX: Dist: Distortion, Overdrive and saturation. EQ: 4 band EQ plus LP and HP filters. LOFI: Sample and bit rate reduction effects. ENS: Ensemble effect. Phaser: Stereo phaser with 4 modes. Delay: Tempo synced delay with ping pong mode and filters. Reverb: Reverb with LP and HP filters. RED31 manual 4

5 2. Installation Extract the archive and Copy the RED31 folder into the VST plug-ins folder used by your host application. It's usually "C:\Program Files (x86)\vstplugins " on 64bit systems and "C:\Program Files\VstPlugins" on 32bit systems. After doing so, in some DAWs you may need to refresh or rescan the VST folder for new plug-ins. Demo Version Limitations The demo version is fully functional but the output will be silenced for 2 seconds every 30 seconds. Registration For your convenience we have implemented a simple serial protection method so you can use the plug-in on any machine you own just by entering your serial number. If you have purchased the Red31, click on logo on the interface to open up the about tab, enter the serial number and hit the register button. RED31 manual 5

6 3. Reference Interface Overview 1. OSC 1, 2 and 3 Controls: o ON: Power switch for the oscillator. o OCT: Octave. o SEMI: Semitone. o Fine: Pitch fine tune. o Wave A and B: Waveform selector A and B. Waveforms can be selected either by turning the knobs up and down, or clicking on the waveform graphs above them. o MIX AB: Mixes the two waveforms together. o PW: Pulse width control. o PWM selector: Pulse width mode selector. 2. Main controls: Voices: Maximum number of voices. RED31 manual 6

7 Octave: Main pitch control. VELO: Enable velocity. SLIDE: Slide mode selector. o OFF: Play normal polyphonic mode. o Legato: Mono legato mode. Each note slides to next overlapping note. o Porta: Polyphonic portamento mode. Each note slides from the last pitch played. SLIDE knob: Controls the slide time. 3. RED31 logo: Click to open about tab which displays information about the plug-in and registration box. 4. Preset manager: File: save, load, copy and paste presets. Use Left and right arrows or click on the name to change presets. Right click on the name of the preset to rename it. 5. RF Music logo: Click to open up the rfmusic.net website in your default browser. 6-a. Pitch bend control. 6-b. PBR: Pitch bend range control. 7. Ring: Ring modulate OSC1. 8. FM: Frequency modulator control. OSC1 is being used to modulate OSC2's frequency. 9. Noise: Enable noise generator and select the type. RED31 manual 7
