alpha home / overview
alpha home / system alpha home is an upgradable individual room control system for indoor heating systems, that is operable via ios and Android devices The control box (CB) is the central system controller. It can communicate with the heat pump control and transmit the heat demand to the heat source. It communicates with the gateway via home network. The gateway (GW) is the central radio interface of the system. It connects all radio components to control the radiators and the under floor heating as well as to record room temperature to the control box. The radiator actuator (RA) is an radio actuating drive to control heating elements. It communicates with the gateway via radio. The floor heating switch (FHS) is a controller for the alpha home individual room control system for under floor heating and heating coils in heating systems. The room sensor (RS) operates to record the actual temperature in rooms with under floor heating. It communicates with the gateway via radio.

alpha home / radio communication components Radiator actuator RA The control system alpha home with radiator actuator is built for wall heaters with standard market valves. alpha home can control and manage 24 rooms maximum with 4 radiator actuators each, which makes 96 heating elements in total. One room for alpha home is a group of wall heaters that are always controlled homogeneously and usually is equal to one room of an apartment. Radiator actuators include an room temperature sensor and consequently do not need a separate one.
alpha home / radio communication components Compatibility table RA Adapter scope of supply RA 23mm with 4 notches Adapter-Set 1 (accessory optional) Adapter for heating element valves RAV 34mm with 4 notches RAVL 25,5mm with 4 notches

alpha home / radio communication components Room sensor RS and floor heating switch FHS Zone controller for floor heating control Room sensor with room temperature sensor
alpha home / radio communicatio components Floor heating switch FHS The FHS is suited for thermo electrical actuators, 230V, currentless closed (Actuators are not included in the scope of delivery and can be obtained from wholesalers). The FHS is designed for up to 8 channels with up to 3 thermo electrical actuators. One FHS can consequently serve 24 actuators on heating circuit manifold maximum. Each channel is like a room considering the RA. So if 3 actuators are hooked up to the same channel, the FHS will control them equally. The FHS has a integrated repeater function to improve the radio coverage of other radio communication components. As the room sensor and the FHS are only practical in combination, they are always installed together.
alpha home / radio communication components Installation FHS Choose an appropriate place for the FHS in the distribution box and fix the profile rail included in delivery. Then engage the hooks of the FHS to the profile rail by pressing them down. Make sure that you can assemble the antenna outside of the distribution box later on and connect the antenna plug to the antenna port of the FHS. Yet the antenna should be fixed at the end of the commissioning process, after all radio communication components have been registered and assembled. If necessary the antenna s position can so be optimized.
alpha home / radio communication components Connection scheme FHS antenna 230 V port Up to 3 actuators can be plugged into each of the 8 channels.

alpha home / radio tips & tricks Indications for function and use of the radio system alpha home works with 2 different ways of communication Control box and gateway are connected via network Gateway and the radio communication components in the rooms share information with Z- Wave The control box cannot communicate directly with the radio communication components, but needs the gateway for transmission assistance
alpha home / radio tips & tricks A good organization is essential to reach a proper radio coverage. On the following charts we will show various alternatives to describe how good organization can be characterized.
alpha home / radio tips & tricks Possible arrangement I The ideal arrangement of radio components is star-shaped. Of course it is also possible to position the radio components in 3D over several floors. Child 1 Living room Bathroom Gateway Bedroom Child 2 Kitchen
alpha home / Funk Tipps & Tricks Possible arrangement II Radio coverage is difficult to measure in meter. It could happen that room conditions like wooden paneling or steel wardrobes/reinforced concrete ceilings create high damping values. Then one ore more repeaters are needed. Living room Child 1 Bathroom Repeater Gateway Repeater Bedroom Child 2 Repeater Kitchen
alpha home / radio tips & tricks Repeater chains Avoid long chains of several repeaters in a row. Building your network like this it could happen that all radio components lose their connection if only one breaks down. All components behind will then lose their function. Living room Child 1 Bathroom Repeater Repeater Repeater Gateway Kitchen Child 2 Bedroom

alpha home Network technology
Service / network technology The setup wizard does not start? A possible reason could be a static IP address in the network connection settings of the laptop. It is helpful to change the setting to: IP Adresse automatisch beziehen The DNS server address is not relevant for the setup wizard. Open the browser window and insert into the address line.
Service / network technology Still the setup wizard does not start? The network connection of the computer / laptop does not refer to the IP as standard gateway despite the setting IP-Adresse automatisch beziehen. Solution: Folgende IP-Adresse verwenden: IP-Adresse: Subnetzmaske: Standardgateway: ATTENTION! This setting has to be undone after the alpha home device setup, so that the network adapter can reconnect to the internet and other devices. Open the browser window and insert into the address line.
Service / network technology Automatic configuration via DHCP With the configuration report DHCP the alpha home devices automatically receive a free IP-address from the customer s router when connecting a cable. They are then immediately involved in the network. Internet connection is assured without further settings. DHCP is active in most networks by default.
Service / network technology There is no automatic adressing? If the connection status does not turn green within 60 seconds after plugging in of the cable, the network will probably not assign IP addresses via DHCP. Ask the network administrator for the right figures and insert them here manually. The IP address must not be used by another device. IP addresses are assigned in the range of xxx.002 until xxx.255
Service / Network technology WLAN connection is not established correctly? Check, if the WLAN name of the customer s network is displayed correctly. Some WLAN networks do not show their names. Then use the function Zu einem versteckten WLAN verbinden and enter the name manually. Watch out for the correct spelling. Sometimes it is uncertain, if it is meant 0 (zero) or an O or o, also I (capital i) und l (small L) are difficult to differentiate. Ask the customer / network administrator to insert the WLAN data himself for security reasons.
