2 1. Introduction 1.1 Over view The GWG4287SX is GPS receiver for Palm and Pocket PC based PDA. The GWG4287SX consists of an highly integrated LNA Block and a SiRFstarⅢ Single Chipset and built-in patch antenna. The GWG4287SX is small size, high performance, convenient use and high reliability better than GPS receivers without antenna. The GWG4287SX will track up to 20 satellites at a time while providing fast time-tofirst-fix and one second navigation updates. The GWG4287SX with the equivalent of more than 200,000 correlators used for processing digital signals, enables extremely fast and deep GPS signal search capabilities; achieving time-to-first-fix in only seconds by acquiring signals down to -159dBm resulting a significant improvement on the GPS performance. Also, the GWG4287SX provides navigation information to the PDA or PC at NMEA protocol and SiRF Binary. 7 3. Protocol The GWG4287SX supports NMEA-0183 and SiRF binary protocols. 3.1 NMEA 0183 NMEA Output Message GGA GLL GSA GSV RMC VTG Time, position and fix type data. Latitude, longitude, UTC time of position fix and status. GPS receiver operating mode, satellites used in the position solution, and DOP values. The number of GPS satellites in view satellite ID numbers, elevation, azimuth, and SNR values. Time, date, position, course and speed data. The board supports 9.6K baud rates (All support variable), and all can be controlled from the appropriate screens in GPS Monitor software. You can directly communicate with a PC serial port. 5.4 RXD (C-MOS) This is the main receiving channel and is used to receive software commands to the board from GPS Monitor software or from user written software. 5.5 GND GND provides the ground for the board. Connect all grounds. 5.6 BOOTSEL Set this Pin to high (+3.3 V DC) for reprogramming the flash of the GWG4287SX IF NOT UTILIZED, IT MUST BE OPEN 14/14 page
