Abstract: This proposed work is an attempt to design an advance vehicle security system that uses GPS and GSM system to prevent theft and to determine the exact location of vehicle. Today theft is happening on the parking or in some insecure place. The safety of the vehicle is exceptionally essential. The advance vehicle security system is designed using GPS and GSM technology. The system contains GPS module, GSM modem, Infrared sensors, DTMF tone decoder, ARM7 (LPC2148) microcontroller, relay switch, paint spray and high voltage mesh. GPS system track the current location of vehicle, there are two types of tracking used one is online tracking and other is offline tracking. GSM system is also installed in the vehicle for sending the information to the user because GPS system can only receive the vehicle location information from satellites. In case of accident this system automatically sends the message for help to ones relatives. The preventive measures like engine ignition cutoff, Fuel supply cutoff, electric shock system (installed on steering wheel) and paint spray system are installed in the vehicle which is controlled using user GSM Mobile. This complete system is designed taking in consideration the low range vehicles to provide them extreme security. Keywords: ARM7 (LPC2148) Micro Controller, GPS, GPRS, IR Sensor, Proximity sensor. I. INTRODUCTION The main purpose of this project is protecting vehicle from theft. Now a day s vehicle thefts are increasing rapidly. People have started to use the theft control systems installed in their vehicles. The commercially available anti-theft vehicular systems are very expensive. And this project is developed as low cost vehicle theft control scheme using a microcontroller and with usage of GSM and GPS technology. In this paper we present a novel anti theft control system for automobiles that tries to prevent the theft of a vehicle. This system makes use of an embedded chip that has an inductive proximity sensor, which senses the key during insertion and sends a text message to the owner s mobile stating that the car is being accessed. This is followed by the system present in the car asking the user to enter a unique password. The password consists of few characters and the car key number. If the user fails to enter the correct password in three trials, a text message is sent to the police with the vehicle number and the location tracked using a GPS module. The message is also sent to the owner about the unauthorized usage. Further the fuel injector of the car deactivated so that the user cannot start the car by any means. At the same time a secret lock system gets activated and the unauthorized user gets trapped inside the car and only the owner who is equipped with the key to the secret lock system can deactivate the mechanism. This
2 technique helps in taking fast steps towards an attempt to steal the.the design is robust and simple. When the key is inserted in the key hole the inductive proximity sensor detects the key and triggers the microcontroller. A password check message is displayed on the LCD provided inside the car and at the same time the owner is alerted with a message about the usage of his car. Totally three trials are provided to enter the correct password. If the entered password is incorrect a second electronic lock system gets activated and the doors are locked. An alert message is sent to the police and the owner about the illegal access of his car. With the help of GPS the exact location of his car is found and the key of the second lock system is available only with the owner hence a total control over the vehicle is established. II. HARDWARE SYSTEM Fig 1: Block diagram III. METHODOLOGY Micro controller: This section forms the control unit of the whole project. This section basically consists of a Microcontroller with its associated circuitry like Crystal with capacitors, Reset circuitry, Pull up resistors (if needed) and so on. The Microcontroller forms the heart of the project because it controls the devices being interfaced and communicates with the devices according to the program being written. ARM7TDMI: ARM is the abbreviation of Advanced RISC Machines, it is the name of a class of processors, and is the name of a kind technology too. The RISC instruction set, and related decode mechanism are much simpler than those of Complex Instruction Set Computer (CISC) designs. Liquid-crystal display (LCD) is a flat panel display, electronic visual display that uses the light modulation properties of liquid crystals. Liquid crystals do not emit light directly. LCDs are available to display arbitrary images or fixed images which can be displayed or hidden, such as preset words, digits, and 7-segment displays as in a digital clock. IR Tx and Rx: Transmitter and receiver are incorporated in a single housing. The modulated infrared light of the transmitter strikes the object to be detected and is reflected in a diffuse way. Part of the reflected light strikes the receiver and starts the switching operation. The two states i.e. reflection received or no reflection are used to determine the presence or absence of an object in the sensing range. This system safely detects all objects that have sufficient reflection. For objects with a very bad degree of reflection (matt black rough surfaces) the use of diffuse reflection sensors for short ranges or with background suppression is recommended. Fig 2: IR sensor
3 GPS: Global Positioning System (GPS) technology is changing the way we work and play. You can use GPS technology when you are driving, flying, fishing, sailing, hiking, running, biking, working, or exploring. With a GPS receiver, you have an amazing amount of information at your fingertips. Here are just a few examples of how you can use GPS technology. GPS technology requires the following three segments. Space segment. Control segment. User segment Space Segment: At least 24 GPS satellites orbit the earth twice a day in a specific pattern. They travel at approximately 7,000 miles per hour about 12,000 miles above the earth s surface. These satellites are spaced so that a GPS receiver anywhere in the world can receive signals from at least four of them. technology at work: The control segment constantly monitors the GPS constellation and uploads information to satellites to provide maximum user accuracy Your GPS receiver collects information from the GPS satellites that are in view. Your GPS receiver accounts for errors. For more information, refer to the Sources of Errors. Your GPS receiver determines your current location, velocity, and time. Your GPS receiver can calculate other information, such as bearing, track, trip distance, and distance to destination, sunrise and sunset time so forth. Your GPS receiver displays the applicable information on the screen. Control Segment: The control segment is responsible for constantly monitoring satellite health, signal integrity, and orbital configuration from the ground control segment includes the following sections: Master control station, Monitor stations, and Ground antennas. User Segment: The GPS user segment consists of your GPS receiver. Your receiver collects and processes signals from the GPS satellites that are in view and then uses that information to determine and display your location, speed, time, and so forth. Your GPS receiver does not transmit any information back to the satellites. The following points provide a summary of the Fig 3: GPS Working GPRS: GPRS (general packet radio service) is a packetbased data bearer service for wireless communication services that is delivered as a network overlay for GSM, CDMA and TDMA (ANSI-I36) networks. GPRS applies a packet radio principle to transfer user data packets in an efficient way between GSM mobile stations and external packet data networks. Packet switching is where data is split into packets that are transmitted separately and then reassembled at the receiving end. GPRS supports the world's
4 leading packet-based Internet communication protocols, Internet protocol (IP) and X.25, a protocol that is used mainly in Europe. GPRS enables any existing IP or X.25 application to operate over a GSM cellular connection. Cellular networks with GPRS capabilities are wireless extensions of the Internet and X.25 networks. V. CONCLUSION Tracking framework or system is getting to be progressively vital in expansive urban areas and it is more secured than different frameworks. It has continuous ability, rises with a specific end goal to fortify the relations among individuals, vehicle and street by assembling present day data advances or technologies and ready to structures a real time accurate, compelling exhaustive transportation framework. Updating this setup is simple which makes it open to future a prerequisite which likewise makes it more efficient. The proposed work is costeffective, reliable and has the function of preventing theft and providing accurate tracking system. The advance vehicle security system is one of the essential systems that homogenize both GPS and GSM systems. It is fundamental because of the huge numbers of uses of both GSM and GPS frameworks and the wide use of them by a great many individuals all through the world.
