3 European Beech All Pollmeier hardwood flooring products are crafted from specially selected European beech wood majestic, rich in character and harder than either red oak, birch or cherry*. We only use the finest cuts of wood from mature European beech trees that range in age from 80 and 200 years. Our steaming process adds a subtle salmon tone to the wood and eliminates all moisture pockets for a flawless installation. 19 Climate Safe by Pollmeier Only Pollmeier offers Climate Safe, a state-of-the-art packaging system specifically designed to minimize the effect of uncontrolled atmospheric humidity on hardwood flooring. It accomplishes this by: l Maintaining the original moisture content of the product (8%, +/- 1% at the time the floor was milled) as long as the Climate Safe boxes are properly closed and not damaged. l Allowing the product to be installed out of the box in an environment with 45% humidity, or where a 45% humidity level is the median value of the total expected range. Climate Safe ensures that your new floor will fit properly and look great for years to come. Warranty disclaimer No warranty exists with respect to Pollmeier s wood products, except for manufacturing defects. 20 Pollmeier Quality Check 1+2 Finish Flexibility: Precision and Optics: Here are some simple tests to help you compare the quality between different manufacturers. Test 1: How durable is your finish? Push a steel ball with approximately 8 oz (250 gram) weight from the top of a table onto your wood samples. Compare your test samples: How much is the surface dented? Did the finish show cracks? A finish should be flexible enough to prevent the finish from becoming cracked when impacts occur. Damaged finish can allow moisture to attack the wood. In places where the finish is damaged, the wood can become grey. Over time, small cracks in the finish can become larger and can cause the wood to turn grey. Test 2: Do the grooves line up and fit flush? Too much play between the individual strips can lead to differences in height. Take a straight edge or level and place it on top of a series of 3-5 boards. Compare your test candidates: Do the floorboards lie flat, or can you see or feel a difference in height? Do all of the boards meet the bottom of the straight edge evenly? Do the floorboards make complete contact to each other along the full length of their sides? With differences in height flooring can suffer damage on the edges. Once the finish is damaged, a wood will be more susceptible to further damage from humidity and dirt. 1 2
