1 Instructions for use: 650mm, 700mm & 1000mm Versions. These New Compact Multifunction jigs offer all the cuts & facilities as the larger traditional worktop jigs. The compact design make them very light & easy to set up. When used in conjunction with a 1/2 plunge router a worktop joint can be made in under 15 minutes with perfect precision. Features: Ÿ CNC machined from extremely hard wearing exterior grade, resin impregnated, compact laminate. (DIY versions are not made from this material) A perfect joint in minutes Ÿ Accurately cuts joints up to 15 out of square. Ÿ 3 bolt recess template with easy spanner access included. 2 Additional equipment required to successfully use this jig. 1. A ½ heavy-duty hand router fitted with a 30mm template guide. 2. A tungsten carbide tipped router bit 12.7mm x 50mm (½ x 2 ). 3. Two padded G-clamps x 150mm curved bracket connecting bolts per joint 5. Kolor-Bond worktop joint sealant. GENERAL GUIDELINES Preparation: Ensure that the work area is clear and free of any obstacles. Make sure that the worktop you are about to cut is supported sufficiently. Check your router cutter is inserted properly into the machine; also check it for wear. Do not use blunt cutters. Check the diameter of the router cutter; it must be exactly 12.7mm (1/2 ). No other size can be used. Check the diameter of the template guide fitted to the base plate of the router. It must be 30mm. No other size can be used. Check it is properly secured. Check that the cutter is exactly concentric with the template guide (central to each other). A ¼ mm difference will result in a ½ mm error in the finished joint & so on. If in any doubt contact your nearest tool dealer as you may need a sub-base fitted to your router. In every case and with no exceptions, male & female cuts on the left-hand end of the worktop are always made with the worktop placed face down on the bench. Male & female cuts made on the right hand end of the worktop are always made with the worktop placed face up on the bench. Place the location pegs into the template holes for the particular cut you are making, as indicated on drawings. Twist the pegs down by hand until tight, under no circumstances use a hammer. Turn the jig over and position it as shown with the pegs resting firmly against the worktop. Make sure that the template is securely clamped to the worktop and the clamps do not foul the path of the router Machining: Use the 30mm template guide fitted to the base plate of the router to guide the machine along the centre slot of the template. Please note the centre slot is two sided. Pressure should be applied to the side of the template as indicated by the arrows engraved on the surface of the jig. Feed the router from left to right and into the front edge of the worktop at a cutting depth of 10-12mm each time until all the material is removed. Do not attempt to force the router through the workpiece. Change the cutter if necessary. While machining, keep the feedrate steady, keep the router horizontal, do not stop or tilt the router. Never withdraw the cutter from the template whilst still rotating. Wait until it has completely stopped.

3 Cutting left & right hand female joints. Right female: If making the female joint on the right hand end of a worktop, place the worktop face up. Align the jig as shown at the right hand end with pins F1 & F2 resting against the front edge of the worktop, the length stop pin should be positioned against the right hand end of the worktop. Clamp the jig in position & feed the router from left to right through the guideslot, apply pressure to the side of the guideslot as indicated by the engraved arrows. Left hand female: Cut with worktop face down on bench. Right hand female: Cut with worktop face up on bench. 90 Length stop pin Left female: Feed the router this way If making the female joint on the left hand end of a worktop, place the worktop face down. & continue as is in right hand female above. F1 F2 Start feeding router from here Cutting out of square. If the joint is only 1-4mm out over it s length, you can adjust the male joint only. Mark line here. To adjust for more than 4mm over the length of the joint the angle should be halved on both the female & male. Eg 6mm out, adjust 3mm each side. Firstly. set the jig up for a square cut & mark a pencil line on the worktop at the back end of the jig as shown. Remove the jig from the worktop & remove pin F2. Now mark a second line 3mm off the first line marked. Reposition the jig on the worktop with pin F1 against the front edge of the worktop, the length stop against the right hand end of the worktop & the back edge of the jig aligned with the second line marked. Once the jig is aligned clamp in position & proceed to cut the joint. ±90 Feed the router this way F1 Start feeding router from here Remove pin F2 F ADJUST AS REQUIRED Notes: 1. In extreme cases the male joint will be longer than the female joint. To overcome this, mark a line at the left hand end of the jig close to the front edge of the worktop. When repositioning remove the length stop in addition to the F2 pin. align the left hand end & the back edge with the pencil marks, with pin F1 against the front edge flush with the left edge & the face of the joint as shown below. The amount of offset will be restricted by the postformed edge.

Line "B" "A" - 9mm If making the male joint on the left hand end of a worktop, place the worktop face down & align the jig as shown with pins M1 & M2 resting against the front edge of the worktop. If making male the joint on the right hand end of a worktop, place the worktop face up & align the jig as shown with pins M1 & M2 resting against the front edge of the worktop. Eg. "A" = 1000mm. 1000mm - 9mm =991mm LINE "B"= 991mm If cutting out of square, first set up square as shown, mark a pencil line at the back edge of the worktop, calculate the offset, remove pin M2 & reposition as required. 5 Cutting Left & Right Hand Straight Joints (A) 90.0 (B) (C) 67.5 Postformed edge. (A) 45 joints. Place pins in holes marked 0 & 45. Lay the jig on the worktop with the pins resting against the postformed edge. Mark a line & remove pins, reposition the jig as shown below. Clamp & proceed to cut with the router feeding into the postformed edge. Note: Re-positioning does not apply with the 1000mm version. This function does not apply to the 650mm version. (B) 90 joints & edge trimming. Place pins in holes marked 0 & 90. Lay the jig on the worktop with the pins against the postformed edge. Clamp into position & feed the router into the postformed edge. (C) 67.5 joints. Place pins in holes 0 & 67. Lay the jig on the worktop with the pins resting against the postformed edge. Clamp into position & feed the router into the postformed edge. Note: In every case, left-hand joints must be cut with the worktop face down. Right hand joints are cut with the worktop face up. Clamp Here. 2/ Insert 2 pins in holes marked 1 & 2. Insert 1 pin in one of the holes marked 75, 50 or 25 (users choice). Turn the jig over & position on the worktop as shown with pins 1 & 2 resting against the right hand end & pin 25, 50, or 75 against the postformed edge (50mm setting shown). clamp into position, & feed the router into the postformed edge as indicated by the arrows.
