GENERAL Prior to beginning construction, the area selected for the shed location must be level and cleared of obstructions. INVENTORY Separate all lumber, hardware, etc. into individual stacks of like items. FRAME PREPARATION Unfold each frame, setting aside two frames to be used as end walls. For gusset plates cut 1 4 pine boards 6" long: 16 for an 8' building; 24 for a 12'; 32 for 16'; and 40 for a 20'. Apply gusset plates on each side of the top and bottom fold locations. Use four 12' Gambrel Frame 8" 8d nails on each gusset plate. Frames used as end walls require only one gusset plate on the interior sides opposite the metal plates. The superior performance of the Premium Paint System sets this panel apart from the crowd. 9" On Center steel panel profile STEEL PANEL STORING, HANDLING, AND CUTTING Storing, Handling All materials should be used as soon as possible Steel bundles should be stored indoors with enough of a slope to allow any moisture from condensation to drain out of the bundle Bare galvanized panels should be installed immediately and not be stored outside Condensation or rain water trapped on bare galvanized panels can form a wet storage stain, also known as white rust. Do not slide steel panels across each other. To properly lift a panel from the bundle place hands underneath the under lap side of the panel and lift up and away from the bundle. Lifting steel onto roof or building grab the panel in the flat of the panel and not in the rib. Bending steel is best done with a hand seamer or a brake press. Cut edge does not require paint touch up. Do not use a circular saw to cut steel panels.

3 STEEL PANEL INSTALLATION Proper Lapping of Steel Underseat Proper Overseat Proper lapping of steel panel is very important in the panel s ability to prevent leaking. The anti-syphon drain channel must be clear of debris and obstructons for the panel s ability to minimize the potential of capillary action of water from getting under the steel panel. Proper Fastener Tightness Undertight Proper Overtight Fastener tightness is critical in the longevity of the fastener s ability to help prevent leaks and structural load carrying capacity. Over-torquing of screws will reduce the screw s withdrawal capacity, regardless of the construction materials involved. Under-torquing of screws will increase the potential of roof leaks. Fastener location is critical for installers to minimize the potential of oil canning, dimples, and other appearance related issues. Note: Both professional and first time installers have fewer problems with oil canning, dimples, and other appearance related fastener seating problems if they install them on top of the rib. Fastener Specifications: Roof: Nails must be installed on top of the rib. Screws can be installed on top of the rib or in the flat surface of the panel between the ribs. Wall: Nails or screws can be installed on top of the rib or in the flat surface between ribs. 4 END WALL FRAMING for VERITCAL STEEL INSTALLATION Front wall framing for vertical steel for rollup door 19¼" Gusset plates to inside of building Back wall frame for vertical steel 23" 2 4 studs and ' nailers cut to fit Nail Studs into place 19" ' cut to fit 91¾" 2½" For a roll-up door, header 84" opening to exact size 9'x7'. Roll-up door will have an opening of 108"x84". Build frame and apply steel on a flat level surface. Front wall vertical panels for rollup door 36" wide Pro-Rib panels 108" 3½" 1 Back wall vertical panels ' end wall studs cut to fit. The first panel installed establishes the alignment and layout of the entire wall. It is very important that the first panel is accurately positioned and squared before fastening it into place. When laying out the steel panel have the overlap side of the panel away from the main line of sight. For vertical panel installation cut the overlap edge off the first Pro-Rib steel panel leaving ¼" of rib. Position this panel so it is even with the frame side and square in the corner and covering ¾" of the bottom treated gradeboard. Using 1½" washer nails or screws, secure the top and bottom of the steel panel at the lap next to the rib. Securing the panel in this manner will assure all laps to be seated and will not allow the steel to grow or stretch as you are running it. Once all the panels are in place and secure only at the lap, snap a chalk line at each mid-girt location and finish fastening the wall with 2" neoprene washer nails or 2" screws on top of the rib. At the top and bottom of the panels use 1½" fasteners on both sides of each rib, for the length of the building. Note: Do not put fasteners on the rib at the top and bottom of the panel. Doing this may crush the end of the panel. ¼" With the sidewall steel installation guidelines above, fasten first trimmed panel with screws at the top and bottom in the flat. Trace the roof and door outline onto the back of it. Remove panel, cut lines, and reattach. Repeat for the other 3 panels. Fasten door opening 108" area with the trim later.

Cover ¾" of treated board with overlaps at the bottom. Line them up with the next 12' panel. Secure each with (2) screws in corners in the flat. Trace roof and door outlines onto the back of the12' panel. Remove, cut lines, and reattach. Repeat for the top panel. 108" 36" high Pro-Rib panels For all end wall framing and steel fastening, leave the the frame on a flat surface. For all steel panel applications, overlap the underlap edges of the panels. Make sure the laps seat properly. Fasten door opening area steel with trims shown on the following page. With 2" screws, finish fastening panels to the frame members every 9" O.C. in the rib on front and back endwalls. Remember to fasten with screws in the flat near the panel edges so as not to crush the panels.

6 RAISE FRAMES Use treated 2x4 s rim joists: 144" for a 12' 192" for a 16' 240" for a 20' Place the cut rim joists 12' apart. Brace front and back walls up at the proper ends. Nail rim joists to the walls using 10d nails. Stand the remaining frames up: 2 for a 12' bldg 3 for a 16' bldg 4 for a 20' bldg. Nail to rim joists. Install a temporary brace across low roof member. See diagram. 7 OPTIONAL WINDOW FRAMING Install window unit before steel is applied. For best results, the side of the window should be located between the ribs of the steel. Frame out openings as shown. For traditional window framing, cut out girts between vertical 2 4 s last. Insert the window into the frame-out and fasten it in place from the outside. TOP VIEW Use horizontal nailers for horizontal steel pattern. Midwest has window sizes for RO of W x 36"H and RO of 60" W x 20" H. Notch doorway cap in on both ends. Bend middle piece down at 90º angle. Apply top doorway cap into opening. Cut side doorway cap the height of door opening. Fasten caps with screws. J-Trim, Hem Trim Cut a piece of J-trim 2" wider than door opening. Notch both ends in and bend middle tabs down. Slide wide side of J-Trim under Steel Siding at top outside face of opening. Cut 2 pieces of J-trim the height of the door opening. Slide wide side of J-Trim under Steel Siding on outside face of the opening. Fasten wall steel and J-Trim. It may be possible to use hem trim on steel without rib if you desire. 8 5-1/8" PRO-RIB PANELS ON SIDE WALLS Place a steel panel, with the overlap edge to the bottom, on the side of the frames. Overlap the treated rim joist ¾" and line it up with the endwall frames. Secure with woodgrip screws in the bottom corners in the flat. Fasten the second panel, overlapping the lower by 9", with screws in the flat. Be Certain walls are plumb and secure steel to vertical frame members with screws every 9" O.C. in the flat. Repeat above steps for the opposite side wall. FASCIA Fasten fascia cap trim to the fascia arms of the frames. 1 4 fascia board with Fascia Cap trim 1/2" 5/8" 4" 1/2" 5/8" 4" ROOF STEEL PANELS Place the top steel panel with the center rib covering the center top point of the ridgeline. Make sure center frames are spaced 46½" apart, and 45¾" from the outside of the front and back end frames. Fasten panel with screws at frame member locations in the ribs except at the ridgeline and overlaps and underlaps. Be careful not to crush the ribs at the panel ends. Place the 2nd and 3rd panels under the top panel overlap and underlaps. Properly seat these as well as possible with the Roof Sheathing 8" Overhangs 45½" High Roof 72" Low Roof overlap sides toward the bottom of the structure. Fasten with 2½" screws on the overlap underlap locaton of the first panel and screws at the next two ribs to each frame location. Carefully bend the 2nd and 3rd panel at the high roof and low roof angle. Place the 4th and 5th panel underlaps under the overlaps of the 2nd and 3rd. Fasten at each rib to frame location except at the overlaps. Repeat for the 6th and 7th panels under the overlaps of the 4th and 5th. Carefully bend these to account for the 8" overhangs. Seat all overlaps properly. Fasten overhang steel in the flat. RAKE AND CORNER TRIMS Cover the overhangs on the end walls with steel panels. Cut to fit and fasten. Finish the building with Corner and Gable trim. Since panels run horizontal, you may want to use outside closure strips on the roof and sidewalls. Cut the Corner and Gable trim on the sides at the high and low roof joints and at the low roof and overhang bend. Bend with the high side steel covering the lower side steel. Mark lines and cut leaving for doors and up from bottom of treated boards. Trace and cut two 4' panels for the top section. See diagram. Place a steel panel, with the overlap edge to the bottom, on the side of the frames. Overlap the treated rim joist ¾" and line it up with the endwall frames. Secure with woodgrip screws in the bottom corners in the flat. Fasten the second panel, with the overlap edge seating properly, with screws in the corners in the flat. You may need to notch tops. Be Certain walls are plumb and secure steel to vertical frame members with screws every 9" O.C. in the flat. Repeat above steps for the opposite side wall.
