3 Instructions: 1. The hydraulic puller set consists of a gear puller and a forged steel bearing seperator, all operated by a 10-ton hydraulic ram. The product is available to pull various types of bearings, belt pulleys, gears, round wheels or other tightened parts and accessories. 2. Directions for use: WARNING! Ensure that you read, understand and wear the appropriate eye, face and hand protection when using this product. 2.1 Confirm that the work-piece is retained by interference fit (Parallel or Taper) only. 2.2 Assemble the appropriate puller (see fig 2) and adjust the T-Handle (A) so that the tommy bar (B) is approximately 80mm (3 ) above the top of the ram. (See Fig 2b) 2.3 Fit the puller claws behind the workpiece and then screw the ram body down, with centre adaptor (HPS0010/L) over piston end, until the centre adaptor point locates in the end of the shaft from which the workpiece is to be pulled. If 80mm Max 25mm Min fig 2 fig 2b necessary, use the ram extension rod (HPS0010/J, HPS0010/K) to achieve this. 2.4 Turn T-Handle clockwise, by hand only to pull the workpiece from the shaft. 2.5 Do not screw the T-Handle in further than 25mm (1 ) from the end of the ram (see fig 2b). If workpiece requires additional movement then unscrew the T-Handle to 80mm from end of ram, screw the ram body down so that the centre adaptor again contacts shaft and then continue to draw workpiece up from the shaft. A B IMPORTANT: The maximum safe load for the puller can be achieved by hand effort alone. The use of tools or levers on the tommy bar to increase the load will damage the puller and may result in injury. Such misuse will also invalidate the warranty. If the workpiece does not move with maximum puller force applied DO NOT hit it or the puller in an attempt to jar it free. Damage to the puller/workpiece and personal injury may result. Use a larger capacity puller.

4 Maintenance: 3. Keep all items clean and lightly oiled. Keep all threads free from grit and lubricate the ram fig. 3 regularly. 3.1 The ram piston is normally able to stretch out approximately 15mm (1/2 ). If this is not happening it is probably due to lack of hydraulic oil inside the unit. Also if there is a oil leak on the unit it will require maintenance as shown in the following steps. 3.2 To Change Oil or Seal in the ram Warning! Please wear appropriate eye, face and hand protection when undertaking ram maintenance Dismantle the unit by removing the ram cover (fig 3.2) with soft jaw grips (3A) (You may need to hold the ram body in a soft jaw vice, ensure you do not damage the body). Unscrew anti-clockwise. Caution: the cover is spring loaded, take care when removing. Carefully remove components 3 and 4 out of the cylinder Screw the T-Handle (fig3.5) down as far as it will go, then unscrew and remove it from the body(4.5) Push a narrow screwdriver (fig4.9) down the small opening in the head of the ram (fig4 B) In order to push PU Seals 6, 7 & 8 plus the oil out of the cylinder. Note: Medium force may be required Clean the bore of the ram body with a clean cloth, remove remaining oil as much as possible, and clean the extracted components Take the small metal piston (fig5.8) and gently push it down the narrow bore of the cylinder, ensure the concave face is pointing in the direction of the T-Handle Gently push the (new) small PU seal (fig5.7) also down the narrow bore of the cylinder ensuring that the concave face is pointing back to the main cylinder. Gently push both components (7 & 8) down the narrow cylinder as far as possible Fill central bore of the ram with approximately 13grms of oil (fig 6G) Take the (new) large PU Seal (fig7.6) as shown with cup end (c) towards the narrow bore. Push it down the main cylinder as far as the narrow cylinder neck (X) (fig7.x) followed by piston (fig7.4) and spring (fig7.3) Refit (do not overtighten) ram cover (fig7.2) and replace T-Handle (fig7.5) Warning! The correct orientation of pistons and seals in the ram are critical Screw the T-Handle (fig7.5) into ram head until it contacts the small piston (fig7.8) and then turn a further two or three times Remove the T-Handle and firmly bounce the ram piston assembly on a hard, but not damaging surface around 6 to 10 times. HPS0010/8 Ram Ring Safety Information: Ensure correct health and safety wear is used when using these tools. Do not use these tools if they appear to be damaged or have excessive wear. Keep the threads well lubricated and check the puller assembly is correctly assembled and in line, not offset. Ensure all nuts and bolts are tight before use. Do not heat up any of the tools or jaws as this will weaken the metal. Do not use excessive force when using this puller. If it wont come free using the puller, obtain a larger capacity puller. Don t hit with a hammer! Before attempting to work on raised vehicle ensure that the vehicle is well supported using stands/ramps. Pay close attention to the diagram above to ensure all parts are put back in the case. Do not leave any inside or on the vehicle. We always suggest using vehicle manufacturer s instructions or available manuals to ensure correct working procedure. Important: We accept no liability for incorrect use of this product.
