8 Installation Instructions - Ceiling Channel 2. Ceiling rail 90 corner conditions are spliced using the splice kit. Ceiling rail 3-way conditions are spliced using the splice kit. Ceiling rail 4-way conditions are spliced using the splice kit. The splice kits will create the proper offset dimension for correct ceiling rail installation. Please refer to pages 9 & 0 for installation graphics. On straight runs, the ceiling rail is spliced with factory installed black plastic molding clips. Slide two clips to cover both sides of the seam (Figure 2). 3. A ceiling channel layout must be completed to verify fit of components. Ceiling channel must be set in place before positioning the various components. Accurate installation of ceiling rail per shop drawings is critical to a satisfactory installation (Figure 3). If any discrepancies exist, please contact your KI project coordinator. 4. Using the floor plan for reference and working in teams of two, fasten the ceiling channel clips to the ceiling grid securely. Caution: Do not over tighten ceiling clips, screws or anchors. 5. On drywall and hidden grid ceilings, mark location of channel centerline or edge. 6. Measure from wall, column or other starting point to the first attachment point (Figure 4). Cut channel accordingly so that the slots in the ceiling channel match the grid layout (Figure 5). Ceiling Channel. Many ceiling grids accept 9 standard Caddy Clips such as / 6" 5 and / 6" wide (Figure ). When the grid is recessed, spring spacers and closed cell foam must be used. Use backer plates by KI (Figure a) to prevent scratching of 7. After positioning and 9 the grid. Donn / 6" Fineline uses a / 4"-20 T-bolt. Drywall and hidden grid ceilings require direct attachment of the rail with screws or anchors. securing the channel on Caddy Clips with /4"-20 hex nuts (Figure 6), ensure that it cannot slide, does not push up ceiling tiles and that there are not light gaps between ceiling and channel. Once the panels are up, adjustments to the ceiling rail cannot be made. Note: Some local codes may require physical attachment of ceiling grid and Lightline ceiling channel to the building superstructure. 8. Check fit and strength. Verify accuracy of all measurements. Plumb-bob down for panel centerline and snap chalk lines. Or, you may plumb panels later using a level as they are connected. Note: If ceiling is not stable, reinforcement may be necessary through use of suitable materials above the tiles. This work is not included in the installation bid. Panel to Drywall 9. To make room for the ceiling trim to snap onto the ceiling channel, the ceiling channel must be held back two inches from the drywall (Figure 7). Do not butt ceiling channel into drywall (Figure 7). 13 Installation Instructions - Glass Panels Positioning Glass Panels Caution: Prior to placing any panels into position, first verify that both top and bottom rails are firmly attached to glass the panel. If not, re-tighten the mounting screws.. Working in teams of two, stand panel on its base, slightly inclined (Figure & Detail A). Figure Figure 4 2. Attach two rubber suction disks to the same side of the panel (Figure 2). 3. Holding the panel securely, lift the panel into position underneath the ceiling channel (Figure 3). Figure 2 Figure 5 Note: To save time and space, move all panels into sequence. If possible, do this as the panels are unloaded from the truck, eliminating double handling and potential damage. Wall Mount Glass Panel. Position wall mount extrusion(s) directly below ceiling channel, making sure the extrusion is tight to both ceiling and floor, while plumb (Figure 4). 2. Attach extrusion to wall with appropriate fasteners (Figure 5). Figure 3 Detail A - U-channel To Wall Wallpost To Wall - Optional 3

14 Installation Instructions - Glass Panels Panel Height Adjustment. Using a pliers or channel locks, readjust the level and height of the panel by turning the bolts of the bottom glides (Figure ). 2. Ensure that panels are properly plumb by leveling in both the horizontal and vertical directions (Figure 2). 3. After the first panel is positioned and leveled, subsequent adjustment can be made visually by aligning adjacent panels to the first leveled panel. Important: Figure 3 shows the maximum adjustment using different available base trim sizes. 4. As panel heights are adjusted, periodically use a test section of ceiling and base trim to confirm that heights are within adjustment limits for the base and ceiling trim of the specific job site. Reinstall the divided top clamps onto the glass panel (Figure 2). 3. Next, remove the release backing from the tape on the intersecting panel and apply a flexible seal (50.502). Apply the flexible glazing seal to the tape, being careful to keep it centered by running your fingers along the edge to guide it on from top to bottom. Don't let the bottom of the glazing seal touch the tape at the bottom before it is guided into position (Figure 3). 4. Cut the ceiling channel into two parts and remove a section to fit the 3-way corner bracket where the intersection is being made (Figure 4). 5. Install 3-way corner bracket to cut ceiling channel. The ceiling channel from the intersecting panel must also be installed to the bracket at this time (Figure 4). 6. Stand intersected panel under the divided ceiling channel (Figure 5). 7. Stand the intersecting panel. Slide panel and butt it into face of the other panel compressing the flexible seal slightly (Figure 5). 8. Install the ceiling and base trim (see page 23) so that the trim of the panel being intersected butts into the face of the glass of the intersecting panel. The trim of the intersecting panel will then butt into the trim of the panel being intersected (Figure 6). 7

18 Installation Instructions - Phase 2 Glass-To-Glass Panel Joints Inline Glazing Seal Note: The glass panels come from the factory with adhesive tape already applied to the edge of the glass.. Remove the protective shipping channel from both edges to expose the tape. Stand and level the panels following all the instructions from the main Lightline installation guide. 2. Slide one of the panels to the side opening up the glazed joint to approximately two inches (Figure ). The panel layout is designed to allow the panels to be shifted apart making it possible to open at least one panel seam at a time. There will either be an expandable wall channel or other means to make this possible. 3. Dry-fit the glazing seal between the glass by sliding the glass together and pinching the glazing seal between the glass panels. Make sure there are no gaps between the glass and the glazing seal (Figure 2). If there is, re-level the panels. 4. Pull the panels back apart by about ½ inch. Remove the release backing from the tape on one edge of the glass (Figure 3). 5. Apply the glazing seal to the tape, keep it centered by running your fingers along the edge to guide it on from top to bottom. Don't let the bottom of the glazing seal touch the tape at the bottom before it is guided into position (Figure 4). 6. Remove the release backing from the second piece of tape. Align the pieces of glass and hold them in-plane with a large straight edge making sure that any bow in the glass does not make an uneven joint. Slide the panels together to form a bond. Force the panels tightly together using suction cups and a clamp to fully nip the tape (Figure 5). Then continue to assemble carpet grippers, trim, etc. to panel base. 8 2 clear acrylic tape (50.500) Figure - Spread Panels glazing seal Figure 2 - Dry-fit Seal clear acrylic tape (50.500) clear acrylic tape release backing Figure 3 - Remove Release Backing glazing seal glazing seal clear acrylic tape (50.500) Figure 4 - Apply Glazing Seal clear acrylic tape release backing Figure 5 - Attach Panel

Remove the protective shipping channel from both edges to expose the tape. Stand and level the panels following all the instructions from the main Lightline installation guide. 2. Since the glass corner requires one panel to butt into the face of the other panel, the factory applied tape will have to be removed from the edge of the overlapping panel. This can be done with a plastic scrapper and a light oil such as vegetable oil (Figure ). 3. After the glass edge is completely clean Apply Silane Glass Treatment AP5 to the face of the glass of the overlapping panel in the area that forms the corner. Spray it on and wipe in following the directions on the bottle. clear acrylic tape (50.500) remove clear acrylic tape Figure - Spread Panels/Remove Seal glazing seal Figure 2 - Install Clear Acrylic Tape glazing seal Figure 3 - Dry-fit Seal glazing seal clear acrylic tape (50.500) Figure 4 - Apply Glazing Seal clear acrylic tape release backing glazing seal 4. 24 Installation Instructions - Full Height Glass Sliding Door (Phase 2) Full-Height Sliding Door (Model LUS) Installation. Measure and cut door frame components first. Place a piece of ceiling cover (50.277) onto the ceiling rail (50.292) and measure from top of cover to floor, making allowance for how far the door post will sink into the carpet. Cut the strike post to that dimension. Next, cut the trailing post / 6 shorter than the strike post, to account for the installation of the bottom guide bracket. Stand the door frame under the ceiling rail and confirm that the top of the frame lines up with the top of the trim (Figure). 2. Mount the sliding door track, by first screwing the channel (50.294) to the top of the adjacent panel clamp. Install ceiling cover (50.277), butting it into the door frame at the top channel of the door frame. Next, screw the door track (50.298) to the top frame channel and adjacent panel. Wipe out the door track, making sure it is free of debris, then insert door stoppers [soft stop (49.776); bumper stop ( & )] and trolleys into door track (see separate instructions included with door stops)(figure). 3. To hang the sliding door leaf, begin by attaching the top door hanger assemblies to top of door. First you must disassemble the door hanger assembly (50.394), leaving the topmount bracket still attached. Insert nylon bushings (50.30) into the mounting holes from outside of leaf, then place the door hanger bracket (50.302) over the outside of the leaf and line it up with the bushings. Secure using screws (50.303) through outside of hanger. Place washer gasket (49.496) over threaded stud (49.495). Thread stud (49.495) onto bolts (50.303) and tighten using spanner and allen wrenches. Repeat above procedure for second door hanger (See Door Hanger Detail). 4. Hang the door leaf by first positioning the leaf under the trolley bolts and hang the leaf from the door hanger bracket (50.304). Tighten the retainer nuts on the trolley bolts, then apply hanger bracket covers (50.305) with two-way tape and set screws (Figure) To attach the adjustable bottom clamp, first insert nylon adjustable bushings (50.309) through the two holes in the bottom of the door leaf. Apply gasket cork ( ) on both sides of the holes, overlapping the hole a little to retain the bushing. Start at the top of the hole and go down around the bottom edge of the glass to the top of the hole on the opposite side of the glass. Next, slide the adjustable bottom clamp (5.32) on from the end of the door and spin a barrel nut (50.324) onto one of the #0-32 x /4 phillip head screws (49.728). Poke the screw and barrel nut through the bushing and install the second screw into the opposite end of the barrel nut. Slide the door so the nylon bottom glide is inside the bottom channel in the adjustable door clamp. Install end cap legs (50.37) between clamp and face of glass, pushing all of the way in so that the cap is tight up against the edge of glass. Position the clamp extrusion to approx. ½ off of floor and tighten screws clamping the assembly to the glass. Mark and cut the bottom trim covers (50.36) to the width of the glass, then remove the release paper from the adhesive tape pads on the outside of the clamp. Hang the covers onto the top of the clamp and rotate down, engaging the tape (Figure). 6. The sliding door valance (50.307) is attached to the top door frame by first measuring to cut it. Measure the distance from the outside of the door frame to the end of the adjacent panel(s) and cut the sliding door valance to length. Screw the end cover bracket (49.847) inside of door track on each end. Snap the valance onto the door track and adjust the bracket to make the valence end cap (50.308) fits tight to the valance. Tape the end cap to inside bracket on each end, then line up edge of valance and end cap and tape together at tip with valence bracket (49.846) (Figure). 7. Follow other instructions in this manual to complete the following steps:. Install door handle, 2. Install door lock (if required), 3. Attach door frame to adjacent panels with post clip & 4. 27 Parts Identification - Full Height Pivot Door (Phase 2) Full Height Pivot Door Installation. Measure and cut door frame components first. Place a piece of ceiling trim onto the ceiling rail and measure from the top of the cover to the floor, making allowance for how far the door post will sink into the carpet. Cut the strike post to that dimension (Figure ). 2. Next, cut the pivot post /6 shorter than the strike post to account for the installation of the pivot door plate (50.369). Stand the door frame under the ceiling rail and confirm that the top of the frame lines up with the top of the ceiling trim (Figure ). 3. To prepare the pivot door leaf, begin by attaching the upper pivot holder assembly (50.449). Apply gasket (50.378) around the perimeter of the notch in the top of the glass door leaf (GDL-P). Apply two pieces of cork tape (50.373) to the inside of the outer faces of the two glass pivot door top half housings (50.355). Place the pivot door housing halves into the notch in the top of the door. Insert four hex bolts (2.5022) and loosely turn into four hex nuts on the opposite side of the clamp assembly. Make sure the clamp assembly is fully seated into the notch and tighten nuts firmly. Wait to install the spring, pivot pin and trim covers until step 9 (Figure ). 4. Attach the glass pivot door bottom clamp assembly to the bottom of the glass door leaf. Begin by starting (not turning entirely through) ten screws (2.0904) into the pre-drilled holes in the pivot door bottom channel (50.344) (Detail A). 5. Place the two glass pivot door strips (50.347) into the glass door bottom pivot channel so that the cork pads ( ) are facing inward and toward the top of the channel. Place this assembly over the bottom of the door making sure that one plate is positioned on each side of the glass (Detail A). 6. Measure from the underside of the door header to the floor (refer to step ). Position the door bottom so that the combined height of the leaf and the bottom channel is equal to approximately 5/8 less than the dimension to the underside of the door header. Slide enough shims (50.374, & ) inside the channel between the glass and the bottom of the channel so they stack up and support the weight of the glass. Tighten the ten clamping screws (2.0904) that were started earlier clamping the bottom channel to the glass (Detail A). 7. Slide the bottom pivot (50.346) into the bottom channel and secure with four set screws (50.354). This plate can be adjusted in our out to control the swing of the door (Detail A). attachment strip assembly (50.45) cork ( ) glass pivot door strip (50.347) #6-32 x thread forming screw (50.49) pivot door bottom channel (50.344) 8. Peel tape backer off of (50-476). Align holes and apply to (50.492) in orientation shown. Attach the taped assembly to the bottom channel using #6-32 x thread forming screw (50.496) at both ends. Note: End Cover Assembly and Block End Cover are attached to the bottom channel on the side opposite of the door jamb stop on the pivot and strike side moldings. Next, attach the glass pivot door end cover (50.473) to opposite side of bottom channel using #6-32 x flat head thread forming screw at both ends. Measure between the two fully assembled end covers and cut the two bottom covers (50.350) so that they fit tightly between the end covers. Snap the bottom covers onto the bottom channel (Detail A) pivot door adjustable bottom cover (50.350) Detail A - Pivot Door Bottom 3 / 4-20 x / 8 thread forming screw (2.0904) / 4-20 x /4 set screw bottom pivot (50-346) ½ shim (50.376) / 4 shim (50.375) / 8 shim (50.374) end cover assembly (50-476) glass pivot door end cover (50.473) block end cover (50.492) 9. Mount the door leaf over the bottom pivot at a slight angle making sure that the pivot nut on the frame is engaging the bottom bearing in the leaf. Insert the top pivot spring ( ) and the top pivot (50.372) into the top pivot holder assembly. Depress the top pivot (50.372) and slowly bring the leaf to a vertical position under the top pivot housing. Release the top pivot pin when it is aligned with the hole in the upper pivot housing letting it snap into place (Figure & Detail A). 27
