Concept to Completion wall cabinets 1 Have drawings ready for reference. 4 3/8" standard Mark the top and bottom positions of each wall cabinet's upper and lower positions according to drawings. Typically the top mark of the wall cabinets is at 84" high /8" if under soffit Measure 4 3/8" down from the top mark of the cabinets. For soffits measure 4 5/8". Level that mark throughout the entire run of cabinets. This will be the upper mounting rail's center line. 3 Next, use a stud finder to mark all stud locations along the width of the cabinets. When you are finished, it should look similar to this illustration. 7
wall cabinets Concept to Completion 4 6" every 4" Place the hanging rail on the wall and mark every 4" along the entire length of the rail. Note: Red vertical lines mark 6" from ends. Steel Solutions USA requires a fastener within 6" of the cabinet ends. Red X's indicate metal fastening screws. Black X's mark toggler w/ bolt fasteners. 5 * Remove upper rail and install togglers where marked using recommended drill bit. Next, mount the hanging rail to wall with toggler bolts and stud screws. Level mounting rail as you secure to the wall /4" Measure 2 1/4" up from the bottom mark of the cabinets. Level that mark throughout the entire run of cabinets. This will be the lower mounting rail's center line. 8 * Wall fasteners provided by installer due to varying wall conditions. Use recommended drill bit size according to anchoring hardware's instructions.
wall cabinets 7 Place bottom spacer channel on wall and see what holes in channel match stud positions. Mount bottom spacer channel to wall w/ stud screws. If spacer channel cannot be fastened to each stud along the channel, use additional togglers w/ bolt fasteners to secure channel to wall. 8 Once you have secured both upper and lower rails to the wall, you are now ready to hang your cabinets. Refer to your drawings for proper placement of cabinets. 9 On the back of each cabinet, spin the hanging buttons to the fully extended position. Place the 1st cabinet on the upper hanging rail making sure bracket buttons are seated over the lip of the rail. Note: View is from the back of cabinet. 10 wall cabinets Concept to Completion Once mounted, place 1st cabinet on the wall in it's approximate location. Note: Fillers will be installed after leveling cabinets. Continue to mount remaining cabinets and place in their approximate locations. 12 Once the last cabinet is mounted and positioned you are ready to level and gang cabinets together. Start with the 1st cabinet near the wall. adjust to level To level each cabinet, locate the two access holes in the upper back corners. Turn angled screw (2 per cabinet) to adjust the cabinet up or down until it is level. Focus on leveling cabinet bodies to each other. The doors will be adjusted later. Once your first cabinet is level, adjust all other cabinets to match. Check level across all cabinets once complete. 10 Content herein is property of Steel Solutions USA Steel Solutions USA. 11 wall cabinets 13 * After leveling cabinets, fasten cabinets together with supplied gang bolts. Use (2) gang bolts for every cabinet sides you join. Gang bolts should be placed in the first hole up from the bottom and down from the top that is unobstructed with hinges, shelf supports, or reinforcements. 14 adjust to plumb Once cabinets are ganged together, place a magnetic torpedo level on the face side of each cabinet. Tighten all cabinets against the wall until they are plumb by adjusting the access hole screws. Turn the lower screw (2 per cabinet) until cabinet is plumb. 15 Adjust each cabinet until all cabinets are plumb. Snap plastic covers over the access holes once all adjustments are complete to give a finished look. * See "door adjustment" section if doors need to be removed for your installation. Gang bolts should be installed by first tapping the longer female gang bolt into system hole. Then, insert male gang bolt into system hole and secure. 11
wall cabinets Concept to Completion /4" 17 Next, mount the overlay panel flush with top and bottom of cabinet and against back wall. If door needs to be removed, insert flat head screwdriver in slot and pivot to release hinge. Clamp panel in place and fasten from the inside with (4) screws using the systems holes. Flush Scribe-cut 18 Once overlay panel is fastened, reattach door as necessary. Build filler with (2) panels and angle brackets. Scribe-cut filler to wall and mount flush with cabinet body. Fasten filler to cabinet side thru system holes with (3) #8, 1-1/4" pan head screws. set screw Reattach all doors and adjust each as necessary, making sure the doors hang parallel and bottom of doors are flush. Note: Doors can be adjusted without loosening the set screw. Each door adjusts up and down, and side-to-side using the indicated screws. 12 Content herein is property of Steel Solutions USA Steel Solutions USA. All rights reserved.
wall cabinets 19 Next, mount sloped top onto cabinet. Make sure to align all four threaded inserts with holes in top of cabinet. Sloped top should be against wall and flush with front and sides of cabinet body. Tighten (4) thru-bolts with included Allen wrench to secure slope top to cabinet. 20 Continue attaching slope tops until finished. Note: Scribe-cut final sloped top over filler to size for a finished look. Finish install by fastening each cabinet to the lower rail. 21 5/8" Use (2) #8, 5/8" screws per cabinet. Fasten thru cabinet into top part of the lower rail. Congratulations! You have just completed the wall cabinets installation. Next we will install base cabinets. 16 base cabinets Concept to Completion 4 High point 5 Use the level or laser level to find the highest point of the floor. This will determine which cabinet you level first. Level cabinet by adjusting all (4) levelers. Thru bolts provide easy access to each leveler. Flush Tops 6 Once this cabinet on the high point is level, continue leveling remaining cabinets. Raise each cabinet up to make their tops flush with adjacent cabinet. Note: Make sure cabinet is level so its corners are flush with adjacent cabinet and there are no gaps. After cabinets are in place and level, we are ready to join them together w/ gang bolts. * Fasten cabinets together w/ gang bolts. Use (2) gang bolts per cabinet side. Gang bolts should be placed in the first hole down from the top and up from the bottom that is available. 16 * Insert longer female gang bolt first by tapping into system hole. Then, insert male gang bolt into system hole and secure.
