6 MSP-LIFSWM INSTALLATION The MSP-LIFSWM mount has been designed to be mounted directly onto either a wood stud or concrete wall. Locate Mounting Site WARNING: IMPROPER INSTALLATION CAN LEAD TO MOUNT FALLING CAUSING SEVERE PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO EQUIPMENT! It is the installers responsibility to make certain the structure to which the mount is being attached is capable of supporting five times the weight of the MSP-LIFSWM and all attached equipment not to exceed 200 lbs (90.7 kg). NOTE: Proceed to either the Installing to a Wood Stud Wall section or the Installing to a Concrete Wall section. Installing to a Wood Stud Wall 1. Determine the center of the TV screen, and where it should be located on the wall. 2. Locate the closest stud to the left and right of the selected location. NOTE: If the screen area lies over a stud, use that stud and the stud to either the left or right of it. 3. Line up the notches on mount (A) with center of screen marking to determine vertical center. (See Figure 1) 4. Measure up 7-1/2" (190.5mm) from the center point to mark location of the upper mounting slots. Installation Instructions WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD! CUTTING OR DRILLING INTO ELECTRICAL CORDS OR CABLES CAN CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY! ALWAYS make certain area behind mounting surface is free of electrical wires and cables before drilling or installing fasteners. WARNING: EXPLOSION AND FIRE HAZARD! CUTTING OR DRILLING INTO GAS PLUMBING CAN CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY! ALWAYS make certain area behind mounting surface is free of gas, water, waste, or any other plumbing before cutting, drilling, or installing fasteners. 6. Drill one 7/32" (5.5mm) pilot hole in each stud. 7. Use two 5/16 x 2-1/2" lag bolts (SC) and two 5/16" flat washers (SB) to attach top of mount (R) to wall. Mark the attachment points for the lower mounting slots, making sure the attachment points are located on the studs. (See Figure 2) 9. Drill 7/32" (5.5mm) pilot holes at markings for lower mounting holes. (See Figure 2) 10. Use two 5/16 x 2-1/2" lag bolts (SC) and two 5/16" flat washers (SB) to attach the mount to the wall through the lower mounting holes. (See Figure 2) 11. Slide rails to approximate center of screen location. 5. Using a level, mark the wall on each stud to attach the mount through the upper mounting slots. (See Figure 2) Installing to a Concrete Wall 1. Determine the center of the TV screen, and where it should 6

7 Installation Instructions be located on the wall. 2. Line up the notches on mount (A) with center of screen marking to determine vertical center. (See Figure 1) 3. Measure up 7-1/2" (190.5mm) from the center point to mark location of the upper mounting slots. (See Figure 1) 4. Using a level, mark the wall through both upper mounting slots. (See Figure 3) CAUTION: MINIMUM HORIZONTAL DISTANCE BETWEEN WALL BRACKETS IS 12" (304.8mm). Do not place mounting brackets closer together than 12" (304.8mm). WARNING: ELECTRICAL SHOCK HAZARD! CUTTING OR DRILLING INTO ELECTRICAL CORDS OR CABLES CAN CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY! ALWAYS make certain area behind mounting surface is free of electrical wires and cables before drilling or installing fasteners. MSP-LIFSWM 8. Mark the attachment points for the lower mounting slots. (See Figure 3) 9. Drill one pilot hole at each marking for lower mounting holes. (See Figure 3) 10. Install an anchor (SA) into each pilot hole using a hammer. 11. Use two 5/16 x 2-1/2" lag bolts (SC) and two 5/16" flat washers (SB) to attach the mount to the wall through the lower mounting holes. (See Figure 3) 12. Slide rails to approximate center of screen location. Attaching Interface Brackets to TV 1. Align the center of the brackets (U and V) with center of screen. (See Figure 4) NOTE: The diamond-shape hole in the bracket corresponds to the center of the mount. WARNING: EXPLOSION AND FIRE HAZARD! CUTTING OR DRILLING INTO GAS PLUMBING CAN CAUSE DEATH OR SERIOUS PERSONAL INJURY! ALWAYS make certain area behind mounting surface is free of gas, water, waste, or any other plumbing before cutting, drilling, or installing fasteners. Using screws of improper size may damage your display. Properly sized screws will easily and completely thread into display mounting holes. If spacers are required, be sure to use longer screws of the same diameter (SC) x 4 Figure 3 (SB) x 4 5. Drill one 5/16" (7.9mm) pilot hole at each marking. 6. Install an anchor (SA) into each pilot hole using a hammer, making sure that the anchor is flush with the wall. 7. Use two 5/16 x 2-1/2" lag bolts (SC) and two 5/16" flat washers (SB) to attach top of mount (R) to anchors in wall. 2. Select correct screws, spacers (if necessary) and universal washers from the hardware bag (A-N) and attach brackets to back of screen. (See Figure 4) IMPORTANT! : If installing to a display with a mounting pattern wider than 31.8" (807.7mm), the uprights must be reversed in order to be installed onto the mounting rails. The maximum mounting pattern width is 34.3" (871.2mm). IMPORTANT! : If installing security screws to shelves, install the shelves prior to installing display or the display will have to be removed prior to installing the shelves! Attaching Screen to Wall Mount 1. Attach wall bracket caps (T) to top and bottom of both wall 7

8 MSP-LIFSWM brackets. (See Figure 5) Installation Instructions NOTE: Do NOT allow both interface brackets (U and V) to be located on same side of wall bracket. (See Figure 6) NOTE: NEVER place both interface brackets (U and V) to one side of the wall mount center line! (See Figure 6) 3. Hang top hook of interface brackets (U and V) onto the top bar of the mount (R). (See Figure 7) NOTE: The screen initially installs into the "kickstand mode" to allow easy cable access. (T) x 4 Center Line (CL) Figure 5 4. Slide screen and bars to desired viewing position. 5. Route cables between wall and bars. CAUTION: PINCH POINTS! Keep fingers, hands and cables out of pinch point areas. 6. Pull downward on the pullstraps and swing inward toward wall, latching interface brackets to lower bar and locking bottom of screen to the mount. Figure 7 Figure 6 2. Adjust Velcro pull strap (if necessary) so it does not extend beyond bottom of screen. (See Figure 6) Adjusting Roll/Height of Wall Brackets NOTE: The height adjust wall brackets allow adjustment of + 1/2". 8

(See Figure 10) Attaching Upper Shelf to Wall Mount NOTE: The upper shelf may be attached to the wall mount with the display already in place, or with the display removed. Pull top of display out and away from wall mount. 2. From above and behind the display, lower upper shelf onto top rail of wall mount. (See Figure 12) [Display shown removed for clarity] Adjustment Nut 3 Figure Adjust the shelf from side to side, if necessary, by loosening the two Nylock lock nuts, moving the shelf and tightening the lock nuts. (See Figure 14) Figure Adjust the shelf up or down on the shelf support (WA) by loosening the adjustment nut, adjusting shelf to desired height, and tightening the adjustment nut. (See Figure 13) 4 NOTE: The upper shelf has a total height adjustment of up to 6". Figure 14 NOTE: Proceed to Installing Camera section. 10

11 Installation Instructions MSP-LIFSWM Installing to Wall Mount with Display Removed NOTE: Installing the upper shelf to a wall mount where a display has been removed allows use of security screws to prevent the upper shelf from being removed. 1. Remove display if already attached to wall mount. 2. Hang upper shelf on wall mount rail. 3. Adjust location of upper shelf and secure to wall mount rail using one x 1" Phillips pan head screw (WF). Attach lower shelf (XC) to hanger bracket (XA) using four x 5/8" Phillips pan head screws (XD). NOTE: If camera has a bottom mounting screw, attach it through the mounting slot in the shelf. (See Figure 16) (XC) 2. Route cable from camera towards back of shelf and down behind the upper shelf. (See Figure 16) NOTE: Slots are provided in the shelf to allow use of a strap (not included) to hold camera on shelf. (See Figure 16) 1 (XD) x 4 Figure 17 11

12 MSP-LIFSWM Installation Instructions Attaching to Lower Shelf to Wall Mount NOTE: The lower shelf may be attached to the wall mount with the display already in place, or with the display removed. Proceed to either Installing to Wall Mount with Display Attached or Installing to Wall Mount with Display Removed section. Installing to Wall Mount with Display Attached 1. Pull out bottom of display. 2. From below and behind the display, raise and hang hook bracket (XB) onto lower wall mount rail. Route cable from accessory up and behind lower shelf. Remove display if already attached to wall mount. 3. Hang lower shelf on wall mount rail. 4. Adjust location and secure to wall mount rail using two x 1" Phillips pan head screws (XE).
