2 1. 1. DESCRIPTION: The purpose of the Rivetting Press is for shearing-off and rivetting of all commonly used mowing knife blades. We kindly request you to read this manual carefully before putting the Rivetting Press into operation. Application and handling of the individual operating steps are illustrated with a short description. This manual shall show you the most important operating steps in order to avoid that wrong handling may lead to accidents. The manufacturer cannot be held responsible for any kind of damage or injury due to non-observance of the sequence of operation and operating steps. Liabilities of recourse are excluded. Keeping this manual carefully in a safe place ensures the availability of a comprehensive reference book for the user. In case of ordering spare parts please state the part-numbers as a description of the spare parts and consider the illustration as an assembly guide. 1. SAFETY REGULATIONS The operation of any equipment with movable parts bears a certain risk. Therefore, the following safety regulations must be strictly observed: 2.1 Never remove protective cover 2.2 Never touch moving parts 2.3 Any repairs must be performed by a specialist 2.4 Do not reach into rivetting or shearing-off position. 3. PREVENTION OF ACCIDENTS Most accidents occuring during operation, servicing and transport are due to non-observance of the most simple basic rules. Therefore, it is important that all persons which are related with the use of this machine take notice and strictly observe the following rules: Positioning of cutter bar under push-out bolt 4.. Position of cutter bar under push-out bolt - correct position 5.. Adjustment screw for stop for cutter bar shearing level 3

6 1. Prior to the adjustment or operation the Machine must be screwed to and firmly connected with a stable base or work bench. 2. The help by an assistant (holding the cutter bar) during the shearing-off operation is only allowed after careful introduction and the wearing of gloves. (Danger of cutting) 3. During the shear-off operation it must be observed that metal parts (blade or rivets) breaking away do not hit body, head or hands of the operator. (Wear goggles and protective cloth) 4. Do not get too close to the shear blade (shearing area) with your head. 5. Never put your fingers between knife blade and shear blade. 6. Lever for shearing operation to be pulled with a sensitive touch and a certain safety distance should be maintained. Observe the adjustment and correct position of the shear blade. 7. Children and persons not involved are not allowed in the area of the rivetting press. 8. Any unqualified handling must be avoided. 7. Adjustment of stop 8. 7 7. Guarantee The guarantee period for this equipment is 12 months counting from the day of manufacture. The guarantee becomes null and void in case that the Buyer or User of this equipment 1. made any alterations or changes on the original equipment. 2. Defects due to wrong handling or operation. 3. Exceeding the permissable capacity. 4. Unqualified use of the equipment and 5. Non-observance of this Instruction Manual. 23. Rivetting Press with special work bench 24. 8 After completion of these operations one can check the correct seat of rivet and blade. Seat as well as rivet pressing (rivet heading) always depend on the correct handling and the qualified procedure. The manufacturer cannot take any responsibility with regard to seat and lifetime of individual rivets and the rivetting procedure. 21. Actual rivetting. (heading) 21. 9 4. Shearing-off of worn-out blades Place the cutter bar with blades between shearing blade and stop for cutter bar. In order to do this use the hand lever to open the press completely (Illustr. 1 & 2) so that the cutter bar is parallel and in contact with the stop By pulling the lever downward the worn-out blade is sheared-off. For the actual shearing-operation power of kp is required. Care must be taken to the correct adjustment of the stop. (Illustr. 6+7). Adjustment of the shear-blade (Illustr. 8) in relation to the stop must be such that the shear-blade can slide over the cutter-bar (Illustr. 1+2) for shearing-off blade and rivets. The shear-blade is in contact with the bottom of the knife-blade only and should not touch the cutter-bar. Selection and change of shear-blade depends on the type of knife-blade to be sheared-off. Observe type and execution of knife-blade (Illustr. 8+9 and spare parts list). 12. Assembly 13. Wing-srew with fixing-bolt

10 After the shearing-off operation (Illustr. 3) the cutter-bar can be changed to the push-out/rivetting level by hand in order to remove the sheared-off rivets from the knife-bar (Illustr. 4+5). 14. For better positioning and handling the cutter-bar is placed on supports extending on both sides of the press. Thereby it can be ensured that the cutter-bar is lying flat. (Illustr and parts list - item 24). The legs for the side-supports (Parts list item 55) are adjustable in height to compensate an uneven floor as the cutter-bar must be in a horizontal position. 5. Rivetting of new blades For rivetting new blades care must be taken that the cutter-bar is placed firmly on the side-supports (Illustr. 10, ). 15 Unfastening of push-out bolt 15 Change of pushout bolt 16. Different inserts (Header for flat and round-head rivets) 6

11 The inside of the side-supports (side facing the machine) has been constructed in such a way that a change from the shearing-level to the rivetting-level can be done without problem. (Illustr ). For fixing and for the sake of security the sidesupports must be secured in the bores and with the bolts and nuts provided for this purpose. (Please also refer to the drawing with parts list) Before starting the rivetting operation one must check first which diameter of rivet and which rivet-header will be required. The push-out bolt as well as the rivet-header can easily be changed. (Illustr and list of parts) The rivet head can be flat or round. This depends entirely on the shape of head required (Illustr and the instructions of the manufacturer). For the actual rivetting operation the cutter-bar is positioned on the rivetting-level. The blade with the suitable new rivets and the cutter-bar are now moved to such a position that the rivetheader is exactly in the centre above the rivet. The length of a rivet must be such that 3-5 mm are protruding in order to press this section to a flat or round head. (Illustr ) Rivet heading is performed by pulling the hand-lever downward.
