2 PART A: ROUT INACTIVE DOOR PANEL FOR STRIKE PLATES STEP 1: DETERMINE AND MARK CENTERLINES FOR STRIKE PLATES Top of Door Top of Door Top of Door Upper Top of Door 8/0: 33-3/32" 6/8: 23-1/32" Lever Crossbore 3-5/8" Lever Crossbore 24-5/16" 24-5/16". Determine the inctive door pnel's lever crossbore centerline nd mrk. b. To determine the middle strike plte centerline, mesure 3-5/8" up from the lever crossbore centerline towrds the top of the pnel nd mrk. c. To determine the lower strike plte centerline, mesure down 24-5/16" from the middle strike centerline towrd the bottom of the door nd mrk. d. To determine the upper strike plte centerline, mesure from the middle strike centerline up 23-1/32" for 6/8 doors or 33-3/32" for 8/0 doors nd mrk. Ultimte Trilennium Astrgl Prehnger Instructions 2

3 STEP 2: ROUT INACTIVE DOOR PANEL Top of Top of PART B: INSTALL ASTRAGAL ONTO INACTIVE DOOR PANEL Upper Upper BEFORE YOU BEGIN: Ensure tht you hve the correct length nd hnding of strgl for your door. Remove the trim strip nd screw pck from the strgl body nd set side. If tpe is present on the bck of the strgl, peel off the bcking. Confirm the thickness of your door pnel. For door pnels with thicknesses of 1-11/16", pply the vilble B-sel gsket to ccommodte the gp between the pnel fce nd strgl. If present, peel tpe bcking to secure strgl to pssive door Top View of Inctive Door B-Sel Gsket for 1-11/16" doors Lip should fit snug ginst the door pnel e. Determine the center point on the upper, middle nd lower strike centerlines nd mrk the loctions. f. Using 1" spde bit, drill 1/2" deep hole t ech center point. Cler debris from the holes. 4 STEP 3: PLACE ASTRAGAL ON DOOR PANEL INSWING b Top nd bottom of the strgl should be flush with the door pnel. For Inswing doors, the wide side of strgl goes on outside of the door. For Outswing doors, the wide side of strgl goes on inside of the door. The top nd bottom of the strgl should be flush with the top nd bottom of the door pnel. b. Press the strgl down long the length of the pnel. An ornge securing pin will pop up in the upper bolt sleeve. Do not remove the pin t this time. If present, ensure the bcking of the tpe is removed before! pressing down. STEP 4: SECURE ASTRAGAL TO DOOR PANEL Plese refer to the Product Reference Guide on Pge 1 to identify the different components within the strgl. For Step 4, only tighten screws until flush with mting surfces. Do not overtighten the screws. Upper Bolt Sleeve Shown b Upper Bolt Sleeve Shown Flip Lever Assembly Shown c. Keeping the ornge securing pin in plce on the upper bolt sleeve, instll #8 x 1-5/8" screw in the hole djcent to the ornge securing pin. b. Remove the ornge securing pin from the upper bolt sleeve nd replce it with #8 x 1-5/8" screw. c. Instll two #8 x 1" screws to secure the flip lever ssembly into the door pnel. Remove the screw securing the lower bolt sleeve nd slide the bolt sleeve out. e. Instll one #8 x 1" screw on the lower most hole next to the U-notch in the strgl body. f. Return the bolt sleeve onto the lower bolt nd reinstll the screw securing the bolt sleeve. Remove the spine ssembly nd set side to revel screw holes in the body of the strgl. Remove by lifting from the wide side of the strgl first. h. Instll three #8 x 1" screws into the strgl body to secure the strgl to the door pnel. i. Return the spine ssembly into the strgl, ensuring correct orienttion s shown in imge below. 6 STEP 5: CONFIRM FLIP LEVER OPERATION. Engge the flip lever nd ensure both the upper nd lower bolts move in nd out smoothly. Upper Bolt Bolt b. If the bolts do not operte smoothly: Check for bolt obstructions. Check tht the screws in the strgl re not overtightened in the strgl body. The top of the screw should be flush with the strgl body. If the lever opertion is difficult, slightly loosen the screws securing the flip lever ssembly. STEP 6: SIZE AND INSTALL TRIM STRIP Trim strip is included s single, full-length piece nd must be sized to fit ppropritely between the strgl components. For ech segment, mesure, cut nd instll the trim strip, ensuring the seling fin side of the trim strip is instlled on the side closest to the wetherstrip on the strgl. Before mesuring the length between strgl components, check the following: x3 x3 Adjust the loction of the strike pltes bsed on the three strike centerlines mrked in Prt A ( Pge 2). Tighten the screws to secure them into plce. Ensure the upper nd lower bolts re in the retrcted position.. Mesure the length between the strgl components. 7 STEP 6 (CONT.): SIZE AND INSTALL TRIM STRIP b. Cut the trim strip into pproprite sizes. b Seling Fin on Trim Strip X 1 X 2 X 3 X 4 X 5 c. Instll trim strip into strgl body. X 1 c X 1 X 5 X 2 X 3 Top of Upper Trim Strip: Instll the X 1 trim strip to be flush between the top of the strgl nd the upper strike plte. Trim Strip: Instll the X 5 to be flush between the bottom of the lower strike plte nd the top of the lower bolt. Seling Fin on Trim Strip Wetherstrip (gry to show contrst) X 4 X 5 X 2 X 3 & X 4 Seling Fin on Trim Strip: The seling fin should be ligned closest to the wetherstrip for the best performnce. Trim Strips: Instll the X 2 trim strip to be flush between the bottom of the upper strike plte nd the top of the middle strike plte. Instll the X 3 trim strip to be flush between the bottom of the middle strike plte nd the top of the flip lever ssembly. Instll the X 4 trim strip to be flush with the bottom of the flip lever ssembly nd the top of the lower strike plte. Ultimte Trilennium Astrgl Prehnger Instructions 7

8 STEP 7: INSTALL OPTIONAL SECURITY FLANGE (OUTSWING ONLY) Active Door OUTSWING DOORS ONLY Inside Outside Active Door b Top View. Position the security flnge on the ctive door pnel with the wide flnge fcing the outside of the house. Peel the tpe bcking nd secure ginst the ctive pnel. b.
