TRANSITIONS REDUCERS: Overlap Reducer, Flush Reducer Overlap Reducer: Available for 7mm, 10mm, 11mm, 14mm, 15mm. May be used in all installations. Flush Reducer: Available for 7mm, 10mm, 11mm, 14mm, 15mm. May be used for Glue down or Nail down installations only. Uses: Reducers are used where the wood flooring ends, or meets another floor covering of lower height. Installation: Prior to installing the floor, determine where the reducer will end. (The nose of the reducer can be ripped to match the height of another floor covering. Do this prior to determining setback distance and use the ripped piece to determine setback distance.) Use the molding profile guide and molding sample chain set to determine the proper setback distance, and mark a Stop line on the subfloor. During installation of the floor be sure to stop all materials at this line. This insures proper placement of molding and proper expansion for floating floor installations. Once flooring is installed, cut molding to length and check for fit. After proper fit is established place a ¼ bead of construction adhesive to the subfloor and seat the molding in place. (Follow instructions on adhesive container for proper adhesive application.) If nailing or screwing the molding down, be sure to pre-drill holes in the molding to prevent splitting of cracking. Also, be sure not to attach the molding directly to the flooring in floating floor applications. A router and spline may be used to attach Flush Reducer to the glue or nailed down flooring. SQUARE NOSE REDUCERS: Overlap Square Nose Reducer: Available for 7mm, 10mm, 11mm, 14mm, 15mm. May be used in all installations. Uses: Square Nose Reducers are used where the flooring meeting a vertical surface or floor covering of greater height. (Examples: fireplace, sliding glass door) Installation: Prior to installing the floor, determine where the square nose reducer will end. Use the molding profile guide and molding sample chain set to determine the proper setback distance, and mark a Stop line on the subfloor. During installation of the floor be sure to 1
stop all materials at this line. THRESHOLD: Overlap Threshold: Available for 7mm, 10mm, 11mm, 14mm, 15mm. May be used in all installations. Uses: Threshold is used there the flooring meets another flooring of similar but different height. Installation: Prior to installing the floor, determine where the threshold will end. Use the molding profile guide and molding sample chain set to determine the proper setback distance, and mark a Stop line on the subfloor. T-MOLDING: Overlap T-Molding: Available for 7mm, 10mm, 11mm, 14mm, 15mm. May be used in all installations. Uses: T-Molding is used between two floors of identical height. (Example: where two rooms with identical flooring meet at a doorway (i.e. hallway & bedrooms)) Installation: Prior to installing the floor, determine the where the center line of the T-Molding will be. Use the molding profile guide and molding sample chain set to determine the proper setback distance, (for T-Molding the set back will be on both sides of the center line of the molding) and mark Stop lines on the subfloor. During installation of the floor be sure 2
to stop all materials at these lines. This insures proper placement of molding and proper expansion for floating floor installations. Once flooring is installed, cut molding to length and check for fit. After proper fit is established place a ¼ ½ bead of construction adhesive to the subfloor and seat the molding in place. (Follow instructions on adhesive container for proper adhesive application.) If nailing or screwing the molding down, be sure to pre-drill holes in the molding to prevent splitting of cracking.(nailing and Screwing are not recommended with T-Moldings) Also, be sure not to attach the molding directly to the flooring in floating floor applications. floating floor installations. STAIR NOSES OVERLAP STAIR NOSE: Overlap Stair Nose: Available for 7mm, 10mm, 11mm, 14mm, 15mm, May be used in all installations. Uses: Overlap Stair Nosing is used where flooring meets the top of a staircase, or step down into another room. (It can be used on individual stairs, however Flush Stair Nosing is recommended for this purpose.) Installation: Prior to installing the floor, use the molding profile guide and molding sample chain set to determine the proper setback distance. (Stair noses should rest firmly against the front edge of the riser material of the step.) Mark a Stop line on the subfloor. During installation of the floor be sure to stop all materials at these lines. This insures proper placement of molding and proper expansion for floating floor installations. 3 Once flooring is installed, cut molding to length and check for fit. (Stair noses should rest firmly against the front edge of the riser material of the step.) After proper fit is established place one or two ¼ bead(s) of construction adhesive to the subfloor and seat the molding in place. (Follow instructions on adhesive container for proper adhesive application.) If nailing or screwing the molding down, be sure to pre-drill holes in the molding to prevent splitting of cracking.(nailing or Screwing are recommended with stair noses) Also, be sure not to attach the molding directly to the flooring in floating floor applications.
FLUSH STAIR NOSING: T&G Profile, Woodloc Profile Flush Stair Nose T&G Profile: Available for 7mm, 10mm, 11mm, 14mm, 15mm. May be used in Glue Down or Nail Down applications only. May be used on a staircase where treads are glued or nailed down. Flush Stair Nose WOODLOC Profile: Available for 10mm, 14mm,15mm only. May be used in Glue Down or Nail Down applications only. May be used on a staircase where treads are glued or nailed down. Uses: Flush Stair Nosing is used where flooring meets the top of a staircase, or step down into another room. It can be used as the nosing on individual stairs where the treads have been built using corresponding flooring. Installation: T&G Profile - Prior to installing the floor, use the molding profile guide and molding sample chain set to determine the proper setback distance. (Stair noses should rest firmly against the front edge of the riser material of the step.) Mark a Stop line on the subfloor. During installation of the floor be sure to stop all materials at these lines. This insures proper placement of molding. (For best fit, begin the flooring installation at the properly fitted Stair Nosing and work out into the room.) Once flooring is installed, cut molding to length and check for fit. (Stair noses should rest firmly against the front edge of the riser material of the step.) After proper fit is established place one or two ¼ bead(s) of construction adhesive to the subfloor and seat the molding in place. (Follow instructions on adhesive container for proper adhesive application.) If nailing or screwing the molding down, be sure to pre-drill holes in the molding to prevent splitting of cracking.(nailing or Screwing are recommended with stair noses) If using flooring and Flush Stair Nose to build treads for a staircase. Precut and loose lay all parts of the tread prior to installation to determine proper fit. Then install the Stair Nosing first (using guidelines above) and work back toward the riser. Installation: WOODLOC Profile Because of the interlocking nature of this molding it is best to pre-fit the Woodloc Flush Stair Nosing to both the riser material and the flooring board it will attach to, prior to installing the floor. (Stair noses should rest firmly against the front edge of the riser material of the step.) Begin the flooring installation at the Woodloc Flush Stair nose. (If this is not desirable based of direction of flooring, or layout of room, a T&G profile Flush Nosing may be used on ripped woodloc flooring boards by simply using a router bit and spline.) This insures proper placement of molding. After proper fit is established place one or two ¼ bead(s) of construction adhesive to the subfloor and seat the molding in place. (Follow instructions on adhesive container for proper adhesive application.) If nailing or screwing the molding down, be sure to pre-drill holes in the molding to prevent splitting of cracking.(nailing or Screwing are recommended with stair noses) 4
If using flooring and Woodloc Flush Stair Nose to build treads for a staircase. Precut and loose lay all parts of the tread prior to installation to determine proper fit. Assemble the entire tread and install as one piece. BASES & TRIM TRIM: Shoe, Quarter Round, Cove Trim: Shoe, Quarter Round, Cove Available for all floors and all installations. (Universal Fit Not flooring specific) Uses: Shoe, Quarter Round, Cove Used where floors or treads meet a vertical surface. (example: wall or riser material on stair.) Covers required expansion space in floating floor applications, adds decorative finish to all installations. Can be used alone or in combination with Wall Base for a more formal look. Installation: After flooring installation cut and fit Trim to length. Loose fitting all joints prior to installing. Nail (brads, or finishing nails) or glue (with construction adhesive) Trim to vertical surface, or Wall Base. DO NOT fasten the Trim to the newly installed flooring, and be sure any finishing nails do not restrict the movement of floating floors. BASES: Wall Base Wall Base: Available for all floors and all installations. (Universal Fit Not flooring specific) Uses: Wall Base is used on vertical surface (generally a wall) where the flooring ends. Ads an elegant and traditional look to the room. Wall Base is not large enough to cover required expansion space of floating floor installations by itself. Wall base must be used in combination with any of the three trims (Shoe, Quarter Round, Cove) for floating floor installations. Installation: After flooring installation cut and fit Wall Base to length. Loose fitting all joints prior to installing. Nail (brads, or finishing nails) or glue (with construction adhesive) Wall Base to vertical surface. DO NOT fasten the Wall Base to the newly installed flooring, and be sure any finishing nails do not restrict the movement of floating floors. Use Trim to finish off the look and/or cover required expansion space in floating applications. 5
BASES: Slim Base Slim Base: Available for all floors and all installations. (Universal Fit Not flooring specific) Uses: Slim Base is used on a vertical surface (generally a wall) where the flooring ends. Ads a finished and modern look to the room. Slim base is designed to be able to cover the required expansion space of a floating floor installation without the use of any other Trim pieces. Installation: After flooring installation cut and fit Slim Base to length. Loose fitting all joints prior to installing. Nail (brads, or finishing nails) or glue (with construction adhesive) Slim Base to vertical surface. DO NOT fasten the Slim Base to the newly installed flooring, and be sure any finishing nails do not restrict the movement of floating floors. 6
