2 Summit Tower Assembly Manual revised 9/07/05 Dear Customer, Thank you for your purchase of our Summit Tower. The craftsmanship and detail in this Summit Tower is unmatched. We are proud to bring it to you. This manual is designed to simplify the assembly process, however we strongly recommend having an experienced carpenter involved in the project. Please read through the entire manual before starting!! Take a deep breath and get at it, the satisfaction and enjoyment of this building is only hours away. Have Fun!!!!! Remember, it is very important that you have a level site for your Summit Tower. You have purchased a product that consists of heavy, bulky pieces. With your purchase, you assume full responsibility to have the necessary manpower and/or equipment available to unload the items. You also agree that any damage that happens to the equipment, product, or individuals during the unloading process, or during the entire construction process, is your responsibility, and neither the seller, nor the manufacturer, will be held liable for any such damage. TOOLS NEEDED: -Tape measure -Hammer -#2 Square drive and phillips drivers -Screw gun -8 ft Stepladder -Level -Square -7/16,1/2, 9/16, 3/4 deep sockets and ratchet with 1/2 drive HELPFUL TOOLS: -Air compressor -Hoses -1/2 drive impact wrench

3 Step 1 Prepare level site according to the size and shape of your play set. Step 2 Your play set will be delivered as a kit, packaged in shrink wrap. Step 3 Open kit and place similar parts together. Step 4 Position the largest floor section where you intend to build your Summit Tower. Keep the decking portion to the rear. Step 5 Level floor front to back, and side to side. Step 6 Set second level floor ( with five post ) over open space of first level floor. Pinnacle logo should be at front right side of floor on standard units. Step 7 Place two pairs 4x4 spacers at back of first level floor. Step 8 The third level will sit on spacers and the second level floor. Line up the third level with back of first level. The front of the third level floor does not have any 5/8 attachment holes. Step 9 Align the third level floor so that a 4x4 post will fit down through, the front holes of the third level, the back holes of the second level, and the middle post holes in the first level.

4 Step 10 Feed the two 10 ft. 4x4 post with four recessed holes facing each other; through all three floors until they rest on the ground. Step 11 Feed the two 10 ft. 4x4 posts with two holes, into back post holes with recessed holes facing front, until they rest on the ground. Step 12 Place three 8 ft 4x4 posts into three remaining holes at the front of the set with recessed holes facing back. Step 13 Lay out plastic or cloth on ground. Empty out hard ware containers and separate hardware. Step 14 Make sure the bottom of your 10 ft 4x4 post are flush with the bottom of the first level floor. Secure bottom of 10 ft. 4x4 post with two 3/8 x 4 lags. Step 15 Secure bottom of 4x4 10 ft. posts with two 3/8 x 4 lags through attachment holes in first level floor. Step 16 Secure 8 ft. 4x4 posts at the front of the set to first level floor with 1/2 x5 carriage bolts, 1/2 washers, lock nuts, and nuts. Step 17 Two people grab a hammer and four 1/2 x5 carriage bolts. Lift third level floor up to the top holes in 10ft. posts, and insert carriage bolts through floor into posts. Step 18 Place 1/2 washers, lock nuts, and nuts on bolts through recessed holes in 4x4 posts.

5 Step 19 Make sure 1/2 lock nuts are installed on each bolt. Step 20 Lift second level floor and insert 1/2 x5 carriage bolts through floor into 4x4 posts. Step 21 Insert 1/2 x5 carriage bolts through floors and secure with 1/2 washers, lock nuts, and nuts. Check to be sure that floors are level and corners are square. Step 22 Place five rung ladder at front right opening with screws facing towards the back. Step 23 Position top rung flush with top of deck. Secure with two 3/8 x4 lags and washers through ladder into posts. Step 24 Place 62 1/4, 24 1/2, two 12 5/8, and 32 3/4 with 2x4 fences on second level to be installed on third level. Secure each fence with three #8x2 screws on each side.

6 Step 25 Secure 24 1/2 fence to back right side of third level. Step 26 Secure 62 1/4 fence in back side opening. Step 27 Secure 12 5/8 fences to front left and right side of third level. Step 28 Install six foot 4x4 on top deck for tarp frame. On the right side the post fits between the two fences. On the left side the post secures to the fence leaving an opening to the right. Step 29 The bottom of the post sits in 1 1/2 from the edge of the floor. Secure the post with #10x3 1/2 screws through the floor into the bottom of the posts. Step 30 The two 2x4s that are screwed together make up the ridge beam for the tarp frame. Secure with #10x3 1/2 screws, down into the top of the 6 ft. 4x4s Step 31 Secure two 30 1/2 long 2x4 spacers to outside of posts on the left and right side of tube slide opening.

7 Step 32 Secure 24 1/2 long 2x4 to edge of floor at th bottom of tube slide opening. Step 33 Install 106 2x4s above 30 1/2 spacers. Place the end with 1/8 screw holes 37 from the end towards the front. Secure with #10x3 1/2 screws. Step 34 Line up 1/8 holes with center of posts, below the chipped section on 4x4s. Fasten one 2x4 on each side with #10x3 1/2 screws. Step 35 Secure 6ft. 2x4s to front and back of 106 2x4s with #10x3 1/2 deck screws. Make sure corners fit flush on end of 6 ft. 2x4s Step 36 Secure 5 1/2 2x4 spacers with chipped side up above the second level floor; and 23 spacer between the floors. This fills gaps so you can attach two 39 fences on second level. Step 37 Attach 32 3/4 fence in opening behind rung ladder. Keep bottom of fence even with top of 2x6 of the first level. Step 38 Attach 25 5/8 fence at front left opening above first level. Step 39 Attach 40 1/2 fence in opening at front right side of set. Need help? call page 7

8 Step 40 After fences are securely in place with six #8x2 screws through both end caps into the 4x4 post of each fence. Square up corners and tighten all bolts in posts. Step 41 Install two 17 4x4 braces at each corner 4x4 posts. Place squarely against post and bottom of floor with recessed hole at bottom. Secure with 3/8 x 4 lags and washers at bottom. Step 42 Secure tops of braces with #10 x 3 1/2 screws. Place first screw 1 1/2 and second screw 3 above where the floor and the brace meet. Step 43 Install 3 rung ladder on first level to approach the second level. Step 44 Measure 5 in from the front of the first level floor and line up outside of ladder with inside of 10 ft. 4x4 post Secure bottom of ladder to the floor. Secure top through second floor Step 45 Attach 2 rung ladder at bottom 5 in from back of second level. Step 46 Line up right side of ladder with inside of 10ft post Step 47 Secure 2 rung ladder with #10x3 1/2 screws through third level floor at top, and through second level floor from underneath, into bottom of ladder.

9 Step 48 Secure 35 1/2 2x4 horizontally to the top backside of 2 rung ladder, under the chipped top of the ladder. The 2x4 should be flush on left side of ladder, and against the tarp frame at the right side of 2x4. Step 49 Install 32 3/4 fence on third level at the front left side. Secure left side to the left front post. Step 50 Secure right side of fence to the floor at bottom1 1/2 back from ladder. Step 51 Secure top left side of fence with #10x3 1/2 screw through fence into 35 1/2 2x4. Finished Summit Tower without tarps and accessories. Step 52 Drape tarp over ridge beam. Insert 1x2 strips into ends of tarp and roll ends over and front and back of tarp frame. Step 53 Center tarp and secure with three #8 x 1 1/2 screws front and back.

10 Step 54 Secure 9 3/4 2x4 braces at four corners of tarp frame, keeping flush with the top of the frame. Step 55 Secure handles at the top of each 4x4 of the 5 rung ladder. Center handle 1 1/2 down from top corner. Step 56 Assemble tube slide according to directions in slide box. Step 57 Attach bracket to back left side 4x4 post. Refer to slide directions for placement of bracket. Step 58 Secure tripod to bottom of tube slide with three #8x1 1/2 screws through front lip of slide into front edge of 2x6, and secure bracket at back into 2x4 according to slide directions. Step 59 Secure tube slide at top according to directions that come with slide. Step 60 Center Super Scoop slide at front left of second level. Align with post on each side. Step 61 Secure with three 5/16 x1 1/4 lags into deck. Check under decks for any protruding screws or nails, remove if necessary. A Super Scoop Slide installed. Step 62 Install optional flags in 7/8 holes at four corners of tarp frame. Secure through 2x4s.

11 I n s t r u c t i o n s f o r p a i n t t o u c h u p o n a P i n n a c l e P l a y s e t A major benefit of purchasing a painted playset is that damage to the set via a pocket knife, etc. can be rectified with caulk and touch up paint. This also applies to the splitting and checking found in all outdoor wood products made from cedar, redwood, pine, etc. The splits seen in larger dimensional lumber are also known as checks and are more of a cosmetic concern than a structural concern. These generally occur in large lumber such as 4x4 s and 4x6 s. We have constructed this manual to assist you in repairing damages, general touch up associated with a painted set, and in filling checks that are less than 1/4 wide. Tools Needed - Paint scraper or putty knife - Touch-up paint - Sanding pad with 80 grit sandpaper - Paintbrush or small roller - Caulking gun with tube of acrylic latex caulk (fast drying non shrinking formulas work best)

12 Step 1: After cleaning the surface, slowly apply caulking into the check of the wood from one end to the other. The caulking should penetrate into the check and fill it up leaving little excess on the outside of the wood. Step 2: Remove excess caulking from wood with putty knife or scraper leaving a smooth surface over the check... Step 2 cont... leaving minimal excess caulk. Step 3: Allow caulking to dry according to manufacturers recommendation. If the repaired surface of the caulking seems to have shrunk into the check, apply a second coat of caulk and allow time to dry. Step 4: When caulking has dried, sand surface lightly with sanding pad to remove excess caulk. The acrylic latex paint we use tends to stay soft and pliable. Sand with light quick strokes, being careful not to remove original coat of paint. Step 5: When applying touch-up paint to wood, apply a thick coat of paint to cover area, smooth out with brush or roller and allow time to dry (generally less than 6 hours). The touch-up paint will work as a primer and a topcoat. Apply a second coat of paint after the first coat has dried. The second coat of paint is essential to provide long lasting protection and restore the repaired area to the same luster as the original paint.
