3 Korlok More than three years of work went into the development of Korlok, resulting in a collection of 12 colors from woods sourced across North America and Europe. From Texas ash and butternut sourced from the eastern US coast to the cross-sawn grays of Reclaimed French Oak, Korlok is a collection of beautifully designed woods with superior performance. Korlok features a number of elements that help both the speed and ease of install, making it perfect for projects that need completing quickly, including drop and lock technology, minimal subfloor preparation and no adhesive. Its proprietary, waterproof K-Core technology also provides a rigid core that allows for installation over most existing hard floors. The pre-attached premium foam backing saves on time, cost and labor as there is no need for a separate underlayment, and also makes Korlok quieter to walk on, ideal for upstairs rooms in your home where you want to minimize noise transfer to rooms below. 8 Where we sourced our inspiration for Korlok... Texas Ash Texas ash is dominated by an attractive straight grain with just the occasional hint of a flowery grain. In its natural format, the wood is a consistent, neutral color due to the tree s growth in limestone soil types with very little rainfall. Real butternut is even softer than walnut, making it highly impractical when it comes to flooring and, as a protected wood, it is very hard to come by in its natural form. 9 Canadian Oak These natural grade planks feature a straight grain detail which is then blended with a small amount of character grade wood to produce a clean, neutral floor design. The original planks were lightly brushed, opening the pores to allow a light coloring to enhance the wood s features, without taking away its neutral look. Canadian Urban Oak RKP8116 (pg 26-27) French Oak Sourced from French oak flooring dating back to the 17th Century, hundreds of years of wear have resulted in a worn and rustic design full of character and personality. The natural beauty of the floor was so striking that we decided to keep our designs as close to the original as possible. The original long, very wide planks were hand selected from nature grade boards with the intention of mixing grains to provide additional character. English Character Oak RKP8115 (pg 28-29) Cathedral Oak RKP8114 (pg 32-33) Baltic Oak The distinctive markings of Baltic Limed Oak were achieved by mixing grades, from ultra-prime to nature grade boards. Choose a contrasting strip color to make the design of the product stand out. For more of a subtle addition, use a design strip in a similar color to the main floor, but play around with laying patterns, letting design rather than color become the feature. Borders don t have to just go around the edge of a room. Try using them in a large space or hallway to create the effect of a rug, with the border acting as the edge of the rug, or by placing it around a feature in the room, such as a kitchen island.
