4 PAINTING The Raceway Sections and s are Paintable. It is recommended that you paint AFTER installation, otherwise paint can get in the cover seams and interface surfaces causing seams to stick and difficulty snapping together Raceways to s. 4

5 LAYOUT PREPARATION It is recommended that you generate a simple sketch of your layout before you begin installing, see example on the next page. Here are some things you ll want to include in your layout sketch. 7 COUPLER SPACING AND INTERFACE DIMENSIONS The s fit over the Raceway Sections with an overlap of 0.25 (6mm) at each interface. SEPARATING TIGHT RACEWAY COVERS You ll need to separate the Raceway Covers before fastening the C- Channel to the wall. The Covers can usually be easily slid off.

9 SEPARATING TIGHT RACEWAY COVERS You ll need to separate the Raceway Covers before fastening the C- Channel to the wall. The Covers can usually be easily slid off. However occasionally the Covers are tight, and require these additional steps of gently bending and loosening to separate the two parts. WARNING: Use Gloves or a Rag to protect your skin from sharp edges. Cover C-Channel 1. Hold the Raceway as shown, with the Cover side facing away from you. 2. Gently bend the ends of the Raceway downward in several places, while pulling the Cover toward one side to expose at least ½ of the Cover end. DO NOT BEND IN THE OPPOSITE DIRECTION 3. Holding the C-Channel with one Thumb, place the other Thumb under one corner of the Cover. Starting at one end, pry the Cover off. 4. Gently bend the Cover toward its original position. DO NOT BEND IT COMPLETELY FLAT. The C-Channel will flatten out nicely when fastened to the wall. The Cover will flatten into shape fully when pressed on the C-Channel. 9

11 MEASURE, CUT AND FASTEN RACEWAY C CHANNEL Measure, mark and cut the Raceway Channel section. You can cut with a Fine Tooth Hacksaw or PVC/ABS Pipe Saw. Deburr sharp edges with a File or Razor Knife. 11

12 MEASURE, CUT AND FASTEN RACEWAY C CHANNEL To fasten with Double-Sided Tape: Adhering surface (wall, desk, etc) must be smooth (NO TEXTURE), clean and dry. Measure, mark and cut the Tape with Scissors. Apply the Tape to the back side of the C Channel. Press the C Channel in place. Install all of the remaining Raceway C Sections. 12

13 MEASURE, CUT AND FASTEN RACEWAY C CHANNEL To fasten with Screws: Drill 3/16 (5mm) pilot holes in the back of the C Channel (2 per section). If you re using the Drywall Anchors, drill 7/32 (5.5mm) pilot holes in the drywall and insert the Anchors. If screwing the M6 screws directly into wood, use 5/64 (2mm) pilot holes. SUPPLIED SCREWS ARE NOT DESIGNED FOR USE IN HARD WOODS. Screw the C Channel in place. Install all of the remaining Raceway C Channel sections. 13

14 USE CABLE CLIPS TO HOLD BUNDLES IN PLACE (IF REQUIRED) For heavily packed Raceways, use provided Cable Clips to hold the bundles in place to easily install the s andcovers. Using Scissors, cut the supplied paper sticks into 27mm (1.06 ) length Cable Clips. If you have extremely full Raceways, cut slightly longer, 29mm (1.14 ), to allow for more bend in the Clip. Additional Clips can be made by cutting Cotton Swab Handles. The ends of the Cable Clips will be wedged underneath the lipon each side of the C-Channel, shown here by the Red Arrows. 1. Insert Cable Clip at an angle, catching the ends underneath the lip on each side of the C-Channel, then turn perpendicular. 2. Install additional Cable Clips along the Raceway path as needed. 3. The Cable Clips hold the bundles so you can install the s and Covers without the Cables spilling out and getting in your way. 14

Be sure to strike with the head of the Hammer flush with the Cover surface and directly above the Cover Groove and C-Channel Spline interface.

19 INSERT CABLES, CLOSE COVERS AND COUPLERS To snap the Raceway Cover into place, the common method is to GENTLY tap with a Plastic Cap Hammer/Mallet. Be sure to strike with the head of the Hammer flush with the Cover surface and directly above the Cover Groove and C-Channel Spline interface. You can also use a Small Block of Wood and tap with a Regular Metal Cap Hammer. Another common method is to start at one end of the Raceway, snapping the Cover in place by pushing both sides of the Cover face (directly above the Cover Groove and C-Channel Spline interface) 19

21 INSTALLING RACEWAY OVER UNEVEN SURFACES Please keep the following recommendations in mind: Double-Sided Tape will not stick reliably to Textured Surfaces. Use Screws or Tape + Screws whenever surface texture is a concern. The supplied Screws are designed for use with the Drywall Anchors and may shear if screwed into hard woods. For installation directly into wood surfaces, wood screws are recommended When you encounter a bump in the path of your Raceway, like this protruding bolt head, cut out a section of the C- Channel to clear the obstruction and install the Cover as shown here. 21
