Using a screwshooter, drive the fastener until a slight depression is seen around the plate, or with very rigid insulation boards, watch for the plate to dimple. Note: Care must be taken not to overdrive the fastener and fracture the skin of the insulation. Fastener must be tight enough so that the plate doesn t turn. For steel decks, Factory Mutual requires that the fastener penetrate the deck at the top fl ute. To speed installation, this fastener is also available as a labor saving preassembled screw and plate. 5 Installation Method u Drive fastener perpendicular to roof deck seating cap flash with roofing surface. Once tube is set, drive the locking staple thru the tube/disk unit into the deck until the top of the staple is flush with the cap (see illustration). The PERLOK DUAL FASTENER should always be embedded into the structural roof deck to a depth of at least 1. u Operation: When locking staple is driven, its dual wire legs diverge anchoring the fastener in place (see illustration on first page). Uplift resistance may vary depending on the density and integrity of the substrate. u Field Testing: On-site withdrawal testing should always be performed to evaluate the ability of the roofing substrate to satisfactorily accept and retain fasteners. Such testing may alter fastener selection and modify applicable fastening patterns. u Fastening Patterns: PERLOK DUAL FASTENER density and spacing vary depending on applicable uplift requirements. Local codes, governing Approval bodies, Derbigum membranes, and individual roof deck manufacturers all may have specific requirements that need to be addressed prior to beginning any roofing project. The following illustrates typical Factory Mutual recommended fastening patterns accepted by DERBIGUM Americas, Inc. and roof deck manufacturers. Fastening Guide for Base Sheets The following base ply attachment meets FM Class 1-60, 1-75 or 1-90 Windstorm Classification. DERBIGUM GP/XPS, Derbibase Ultra, Derbibase, PRS Glass Base Sheet, or Glass Ply IV/VI is fastened in the field of the roof with PERLOK DUAL FASTENER installed 9 on center in the side laps and 18 on center staggered in 2 rows, equally spaced, between the base ply side laps. Approximately 86 fasteners per square (100 ft. 2 ). Fastening Guide for Recovery Board and Insulation The following fastening attachment meets FM Class 1-90 Windstorm Classification. Approved insulation boards listed in FM Global Approval Guide or Roofnav for use with Derbigum roof systems is fastened with 8 Perlok Dual Fasteners per 4 x 4 board in a diamond in a box pattern. 8 Perlok Polymer Gyptec Fastener Designed to Secure Insulation to Gypsum and Wood Decks u The PERLOK POLYMER GYPTEC FASTENER is a glass-filled nylon auger fastener with a 1-in head designed to secure insulation to gypsum and cementitious wood fiber. It is available in lengths from 2 1 / The PERLOK POLYMER GYPTEC FASTENER is Factory Mutual and Miami Dade County approved. Use with a PERLOK 3 steel plates for insulation attachment. u Wide buttress thread design for high pullout resistance. u Non-penetrating design threads into the substrate but should not penetrate the deck. u Glass-filled nylon eliminates corrosion, thermal bridging, and condensation while yielding high tensile strength. The PERLOK POLYMER GYPTEC FASTENER must embed a minimum of 1 1 / 2 (2 is recommended, and required for FM applications) into the deck. The PERLOK POLYMER GYPTEC FASTENER can be installed into some cementitious wood decks without predrilling. A pilot hole is required for gypsum and must be a minimum of 1 / 2 deeper than embedment.
