3 BLANCHARD GRINDING TO 144" Alro uses Blanchard grinding machines capable of producing maximum surface smoothness, improved surface appearance and accurate tolerance levels. 7 PLASMA CUTTING Alro s Plasma Cutting System provides tighter tolerances, minimizes machining on finished parts and provides greater part accuracy. O2 Plasma means a smaller, heat affected zone and reduced edge cracking when forming. PC-based control technology increases control in shape cutting. Our cutting system can burn materials at up to 300 per minute on a 16 x 50 bed. The result is large volume projects completed with virtually no downtime. 8 FLAME CUTTING Flame Cutting Alro produces flame cut pieces (rectangles, ID, OD s and per print items) in 16 locations from Michigan to Florida including the Mid-West. Our computer programmable machines allow us to flame cut carbon plate as thin as 3/16 up to 14 thick. 9 THERMAL PROCESSING Thermal Processing Stress Relieving diminishes the residual stress in steel caused by working the material (i.e. flame cutting, forming, rolling, casting, machining, welding, bending, straightening). This is accomplished by reheating the steel then cooling it at a slower rate. Benefits: Stress Relieving can be performed before grinding on parts that require light machining Often used on weldments Our furnace is 96 wide x 144 long x 54 high with a weight capacity of 30,000 lbs Normalizing is accomplished by heating the metal above the transformation temperature, then cooling it in still or slightly agitated air. Benefits: Refines/reduces the grain size of steels that have been subjected to high temperatures Prepares steel for heavy machining When machined, provides a better surface finish Annealing is accomplished by heating the metal just below the transformation temperature, then cooling in a controlled cycle which limits the cooling rate and brings the temperature down slowly. 12 GRINDING Grinding Rotary/Blanchard Grinding: Alro s rotary grinding machines allow us great turnaround time and the capability of grinding metals up to 144 diagonal measurement. Reciprocal Grinding: For jobs requiring a smoother finish and a tighter tolerance, Alro offers Reciprocal Grinding with a surface capacity up to 24 x 120 Rotary/Blanchard grinding at our Alro Grinding facility in Jackson, MI. Cardboard placed on top and bottom of ground plate for protection Machining and grinding performed according to customer specifications SHEARING Shearing Shearing sheet metal and plate steel is performed in most of Alro s steel warehouses. We ll shear your order to your exact specifications, place your material on a skid for safe transporting and safe handling after your order is delivered to your specified location. We are capable of shearing plate up to 1/2 thick. Thickness capacities vary depending on the grade of the material. Please inquire. Any modifications proposed by Buyer are not part of the agreement in the absence of Alro s written acceptance. PAYMENT TERMS: Alro s standard payment terms are ½% 10 days, Net 30 days. PERMISSABLE VARIATIONS AND TOLERANCES: Pounds shown are based on material required to produce and fill your order and are based on calculated weights within normal mill tolerances and may vary from actual weight shipped. Invoiced weight on processed items may vary from net weight of pieces shipped because of material lost in processing. Statistical information (pertaining to speeds, strength, specifications, proper working load of materials, tools, machines, etc.) contained in the catalog(s) were derived from manufacturer s tables and reprinted by us for our customers convenience. We assume no responsibility by this reprint. RETURNED GOODS: Orders may not be returned without prior written authorization from Alro. If Alro determines that it is our responsibility or that of the manufacturer, Alro shall replace the material promptly. In all other cases, we will attempt to minimize the customer s expense or loss. If we authorize a return, we reserve the right to charge reasonable handling charges for returned goods. CUSTOMER RESPONSIBILITY TO INSPECT: Customer will verify physical receipt with packing slip within 48 hours of receipt. Claims for deviations shall be made in writing within ten days and shall not exceed the price of the material. CANCELLATION: Special orders (goods not normally carried in stock) may not be canceled without prior authorization. Such authorization will depend on terms we receive from the manufacturers. Orders for stock material that have already been processed may not be cancelable. This determination will be made at Alro s sole discretion. CLAIMS: Claims for shortages in shipment, defective goods, or errors must be made in writing within ten days after receipt of order. Claims for shortages or damage caused by delivering carrier other than Alro should be made directly with that carrier. Claims for defective material may need to be inspected and approved by the manufacturer before credit can be issued.
