Height Safety Products SecuAnch Roof Anchor System 1 Presentation The SecuAnch lifeline is designed to be permanently installed on buildings and other structures where maintenance workers are exposed to a risk of falling when performing their work. The SecuAnch system incorporates energy absorbing devices which limits structural loads to 10 KN in the event of a fall. This allows the system to be mounted on relatively delicate structures. The SecuAnch is designed in such way that each worker needs to be fitted with a full body harness and a lanyard with a suitable energy absorber; the workers connect themselves on the anchor point The SecuAnch system has been designed and tested according to BS EN 795 class C. conformity to this standard was checked by the notify body APAVE. Fig. 1 Full range of anchor points 1
2 Type A = Surface mount APPLICATION The Fallprotec Surface Mounted Anchor Points have been designed to suit all metal roof profiles. The anchor is quickly and easily installed by positioning it over the rubber section of the roof profile and drilling through the rib of the roof sheet where the existing holes are located on the anchor point A watertight seal is created by the adhesive membrane and the industrial rivets that are inserted into the holes for fixing to the roof sheet profile.. KEY ADVANTAGES All components are manufactured from 316 Marine Grade Stainless Steel. Can be used in both fall arrest and fall restraint applications. Designed to remain firm and not flex under normal working loads, maintaining a water tight seal between the anchor and the roof sheeting. There is NO requirement for penetration of the roof structure- NO leaks. Can be retrofitted to roof applications after installation. Quick installation process, no requirements to have access to underside of roof surface. NOTES Fallprotec Systems cannot warrant the roof structure. The building or structure shall be assessed by an engineer, unless it is clear to a competent person that the anchorage system is structurally adequate. If in doubt, consult an engineer or the truss designer or the truss manufacturer to determine the system is structurally adequate prior to installation. It is recommended that all anchor points only be installed by competent persons. All anchor points are required by law to be certified by a competent person prior to the system being entered into service. Annual Certification by a competent person is a mandatory requirement of anchorages. Descriptive and instructional signs are also required for fixed installations of anchor points to control possible overloading and advise on correct use. 2
GUIDELINES FOR FALLPROTEC ANCHOR Fitting Fallprotec Surface Mounted Anchor on Metal Profile Roofs PRODUCT SELECTION Select the appropriate product to be installed, The Fallprotec Surface Mounted Anchors are designed to be fitted to most Metal Roof Profiles Manufactured, make sure that you recognize the roof profile that you are going to fit the anchor points to before purchasing product. All Fallprotec Surface Mounted Anchors are secured to roof sheeting with 8mm Bulb Industrial Pop Rivets. NOTE 1: The Surface Mounted Anchors have been load tested to support a ultimate load strength of 15Kn (Test No ) this is a one person Fall Arrest rated product. Step 1: Select the roof location where the Surface Mounted Anchor is to be installed, remembering that the anchor is always fixed along the rib of the roof profile. Step 2: Once your location has been selected place a strip of adhesive membrane to the backside of either side of the Anchor Point (where holes are situated). This also keeps the two metal surfaces separated. Step 3: With the adhesive membrane now applied to the correct area of the anchor point, locate the anchor point in position on the roof sheet for fixing. Step 4: Now that the anchor point has been located on the roof sheet, drill your fixing holes (8mm) through the locating holes in the anchor point and into the roof sheet x 12 holes, then install the 8mm Bulb Industrial Rivets into holes and complete the installation. NOTE 2: Always make sure that when installing the Surface Mounted Anchor Point that you situate the eyebolt in the correct direction for connection. NOTE 3: All roof anchors are required by law to be inspected and certified prior to being entered into service, and recertified for use annually by a competent person. Additional inspection data tags and instruction signs can be purchased from your local Fallprotec Systems distributor. 3

Quick installation (quickest and easiest anchor to install in the market). 5
ESLC44 Anchor is also available for loads up to 44kn and comes with 16mm Eyebolt, threaded rod and elongated nut INSTALLATION OPTION A Fitting from on top of the Roof Step 1: Select the position for drilling at the centre of the purlin top web, then use a 28mm hole saw to drill through the roof sheeting and purlin at the top of the roof sheet profile or rib. Step 2: Thread the plastic tie through the small hole in the elongated threaded nut. Whilst firmly holding the plastic tie, slip the elongated nut through the 28mm hole. Step 3: When the elongated nut is fully through the hole, pull the plastic tie back, pressing the elongated nut against the underside of the purlin, enabling the threaded hole of the nut to be exposed. Step 4: Using your other hand, take the preassembled anchor point and commence screwing the eyebolt and threaded shaft into the restrained elongated nut in a clockwise direction. Once the threaded section has received at least 5 turns, release the plastic tie and cut it flush with the roof sheeting (if it does not fall through the hole). 6
Note 1: In an effort to improve the water seal and overcome imperfections in the roof sheeting, it may be advisable to apply a bead of a suitable sealant around the hole and between the (EPDM) rubber gasket and the roof sheet prior to tightening. Step 5: Screw the anchor down to the roof, ensuring a tight fit to a torque setting of at least 140Nm, by screwing the eye bolt, using a bar, ensuring that the eye bolt is orientated correctly during final tightening. Eye bolt to be pointing to fall edge. Step 6: Secure the data tag to the stainless steel tube using the plastic tie, or install appropriate instruction sign at the access point to the roof area. Note 2: All roof anchors are required by law to be inspected and certified prior to being entered into service, and recertified for use annually by a competent person.. 14 NOTES Roofsafe T Systems cannot warrant the roof structure. Descriptive and instructional signs are also required for fixed installations of anchor points to control possible overloading and advise on correct use. GUIDELINES FOR ROOFSAFE ANCHOR Fitting Roofsafe Anchor on Tiled Clad Roofs & Timber Frame PRODUCT SELECTION Select the appropriate product to be installed. EGTS40 is designed to be fitted to 90mm x35mm (38/40mm) rafters or trusses. The EGTS50 is designed to be fitted to 50mm (4inch x 2inch rough sawn timber) rafters. Both Roofsafe Anchors are secured to the rafter using 2 x 12mm zinc plated bolts. NOTE 1: The EGTS40 and the EGTS50 have been load tested to support a ultimate load strength of 22Kn (Test No ) Although the EGTS40 and the EGTS50 have been ultimately load tested to 22Kn, certain roof structures may require the de-rating of this product, to a one man fall arrest application only being a 15 Kn rating. Step 1: Select the roof location where the Anchor is to be installed, remove or push up the tiles in the second or third row down from the ridge directly above the rafter truss that you intend to fit the Anchor. Then remove the two tiles in the third or fourth row covering the desired location. (Care should be taken in this process to avoid any damage to the tiles or the bedding and pointing of the ridge capping). Secure the Roofsafe Anchor by fitting the mounting plate over the top cord of the timber truss in the middle of the tile. Insert bolts, washers and nuts in holes provided, tighten nuts (should be very firm, but not over tightened, torque setting should be at least 56 Nm). 14
Note 2: When installing the Roofsafe Anchor EGTS40 on 90 x 35mm MGP10 pine timber, install the 450mm long spacer angle with the 85mm leg to the same side of the timber truss as you intend to install the Roofsafe Anchor up stand. Locate the 450mm long space angle on the timber truss so that when the Roofsafe Anchor is placed over the middle of the spacer there is an equal amount of the spacer showing each end of the Anchor mounting plate. Secure the 450mm long spacer angle using the two (2) long electrical cable ties, one at each end. NOTE 3: The EGTS Roofsafe Anchor can be positioned in two ways (ie with up stand positioned on the left or right of the rafter) for optimum location. Step 2: Remove Eye bolt before fitting acrylead flashing. Take the side tile or tiles and mark the location of the up stand. Using a diamond tipped holesaw 30mm in diameter to drill a hole in the tile for the up stand, or cut the tile or tiles using a diamond tipped masonry blade and angle grinder, allowing for the up stand and replaced in original position. This process is to be carried out on the ground and not on the roof for safety reasons. Take acrylead flashing or equivalent with moulded (EPDM) rubber boot and before it is placed over the up stand of the Roofsafe Anchor place a bead of suitable sealant (Sikaflex 11FC is recommended) around the up stand (at least half way up the up stand. Ensure that the flashing is located in a vertical position with (EPDM) rubber boot towards the top (ie: the largest section of the flashing to the bottom). Step 3: To ensure waterproofing it is recommended that the top of the acrylead flashing or equivalent is bent up to prevent moisture moving up the flashing (10mm minimum 15mm maximum bend required). It is recommended that the top sides of the flashing should also be bent up as part of this process for approx 60mm (Forming a U shape to prevent leakage in the corner of the flashing). Re-install the top line of tiles bedding the tiles into the flashing. Dress lead flashing into profile of the tiles by using a lead-dressor or rubber hammer to ensure waterproofing. This particularly applies to the bottom of the lead flashing which needs to be neatly dressed. Re-install the eye bolt to the up stand, tighten to torque setting of at least 140 Nm by screwing the eye bolt using a bar, ensuring that the eye bolt is orientated correctly during final tightening. The eye bolt to be pointing to fall edge. Step 4: Secure the data tag to the stainless steel up stand using the plastic tie, or install appropriate instruction sign at the access point to the roof area. 15
NOTE 4: All roof anchors are required by law to be inspected and certified prior to being entered into service, and recertified for use annually by a competent person. Additional inspection data tags and instruction signs can be purchased from your local Roofsafe Systems distributor. COMPONENTS LIST 1. Stainless Steel Eye Bolt 2. Stainless Steel Up stand 3.
