7 INSTALLATION ANCHORING METHODS Serial Number Location Tormax Control Drive with Hood Half Removed Head Assembly Concrete, Block, or Brick Walls Concrete Wall Expansion Anchor C Channel or Side Column A Door Panel Figure 3 ANCHORING METHODS Seal Stop Column with Wall Jamb Correct anchoring of the side columns and head assembly to the wall is important for the smooth and safe operation of the door. The wall material should be strong enough to support the weight of the door assembly and all wall anchors. Figure 4 and Figure 5 show anchoring methods for various types of walls. Use the method that is best suited for your particular installation site. All necessary anchoring hardware and material required for the installation of this door are the responsibility of the door owner. If you have any questions, call your Rytec representative or the Rytec Customer Support Department at NOTE: Use ¹ ₂-in. diameter threaded through bolts or threaded rods to anchor the door to all wall applications. Use ¹ ₂-in. diameter concrete anchor bolts to anchor the door to a concrete floor. For most applications, ³ ₈-in. diameter anchors may be used for mounting the jamb and header frame to the wall. A Figure 4 Wood, Block, Brick, or Insulated Walls Wood Wall Backing Nut A Figure 5 Through Bolt or Threaded Rod HEAD ASSEMBLY (SINGLE SLIDE) C Channel or Side Column 1. Find the production corner where the production height and width meet. This will be the starting point for a chalk line or line level. Lay a level line that exceeds the length of the head assembly. The head assembly needs a 3-in. overhang for the end column. This is a critical measurement. It can be achieved by either extending the chalk line or marking the head assembly itself. When the head assembly and end column are installed, both pieces should produce a flush surface for the hood installation. (See Figure 6.) If expansion anchors are used, a quarterly inspection should be implemented for safe and secure door operation. 3

27 ADJUSTMENT SEAL STOP SEAL STOP The seal stop consists of two pieces: the wall jamb and the seal stop column. If there is a gap between the seal stop column and door panel, take note of how much adjustment the seal stop needs prior to removing the door. The door panel seal should be snug against the seal stop column as shown in Figure 65. Wall Anchor Wall Wall Jamb Cap Screw Trolley A Figure Remove hardware and seal stop column. (See Figure 67.) Seal Stop Column Door Panel Seal Note: Wall Jamb Is Located under Seal Stop Column Door Panel Seal Stop Column A Figure Turn off or disconnect power to the Tormax operator. The door is heavy, and two people will be required to remove the panel. To avoid damaging the panel assembly, lay the panel flat on a foam cushion, or similar material, for storage. Be extremely careful not to damage or crush the perimeter seals. 2. Loosen the door cap screw on the trolley and remove the door. (See Figure 66.) A Figure 67 Door Guide 23

28 ADJUSTMENT BELT TENSION (SINGLE AND BI-PARTING) 4. Adjust the wall jamb as needed. Wall shims may be required. (See Figure 68.) Head Assembly Adjusting Screw Nut Idler Pulley Screw A A Slot Figure 68 Access Hole Wall Jamb 5. Check that the wall jamb is level, tighten hardware, and install the seal stop column. 6. Install the door and adjust if required. See DOOR PANEL on page Restore power to the Tormax operator and check the seal stop. BELT TENSION (SINGLE AND BI-PARTING) The belt tension is set at the factory. If the belt starts skipping or if the door does not operate smoothly and efficiently, an adjustment is required. NOTE: If the door is operating in a erratic manner, check the drive belt to see if it is worn or frayed prior to any adjustment. Figure 69 NOTE: If the belt has been adjusted properly and there is no visible belt wear, the door itself may need adjusting. (See DOOR PANEL on page 21.) 5. Restore power to the Tormax operator. DO NOT adjust belt tension by moving the Tormax operator. This is set at the factory for your door size. 1. Turn off or disconnect power to the Tormax operator. 2. Loosen the nut on the adjusting screw. (See Figure 69.) 3. Loosen the idler pulley screw. 4. Adjust the belt tension in the desired direction with the adjusting screw. Turn screw clockwise to tighten belt. Turn screw counterclockwise to loosen belt. 24

29 MISCELLANEOUS PANEL CLEANING MISCELLANEOUS PANEL CLEANING With all adjustments to the door complete, clean both sides of each panel with a general household surface cleaner using a clean, soft cloth. PHOTO EYES Operation Your Rytec Pharma-Slide Door is equipped with a pair of photo eyes for monitoring the front side of the door. The purpose of these photo eyes is to hold the door open or, if the door is closing, reverse the direction of the door if a person or object breaks the beam of light between the photo eyes. After the obstruction breaking the beam of light is removed: If the door was originally opened by an automatic activator, the door will close automatically. If the door was originally opened by a non-automatic activator, the door will remain open until it is closed by the non-automatic activator. NOTE: The photo eyes are not intended to be used as a door activator and will not open the door when it is closed. This safety system consists of an emitter module and a receiver module. Refer to the Tormax manual for additional information. DOOR OPEN- AND CLOSE-LIMIT POSTIONS FINAL CHECKS NOTE: Check the following door systems and components after the door panel has been cycled at least 20 times. Head Assembly: Check that all mounting hardware is in place and tight. Side Columns: Check that the side columns are plumb and square and that all anchor bolts are tightly secured. Door Seal: The door seal between the back of the door panel and the head assembly should be installed and adjusted as described in DOOR SEAL on page 22. Tormax Operator: Check to see if the system operates smoothly. Refer to the Tormax Installation and Owner s manual for adjustments. Adjustments can be made to the open and closing speeds and hold-open time using the programming face plate. Photo Eyes: Check that the photo eyes operate as described in "PHOTO EYES" on this page. Activators: Check to see that the activators operate as specified by the manufacturer. Open and Close Limits: Check open and close limits. See "DOOR OPEN- AND CLOSE-LIMIT POSTIONS" on this page. Caulk: Ensure that all edges of the jamb and header frames and pullouts are sealed where they meet the wall of the building. Use a high-quality caulk rated for the environment in which the door is installed, as required. Improperly adjusted open and close limits can result in damage to the drive system. NOTE: To set the close and open limits, refer to the Tormax Operating Instructions manual. 25
