3 1. TECHNCAL DESCRIPTION 1.1. Name and product feature. The subject of the below Technical-Motor Specification is: The valve wedge with smooth passage made of spheroidal cast iron. with full and smooth passage with closing part with elastomeric cover with not rising spindle with interior thread spindle 1.2. Usage The wedges described in point 1.1. are destined to closing and opening clear liquids flow, including clear drinking water, chemically not aggressive, free from solid body pollution, having the maximum agent temperature up to 70 0 C and the nominal pressure up to PN 16. The wedges described above can be built- up in an underground and aboveground pipeline(horizontal and vertical). The external part of the wedge so called sheath consists of the body and the cover, which are connected with the screws; the connection is sealed by sealing ring O or special moulding seal. The wedge body is in a shape of flanged tee in which the pipe part has the main passage round (full and Flat) while the branch is oval. The pipe line ends with flanges to link with the pipeline. The oval branch of the body creates a pod in which a closing part (chock) covered with rubber is moving. The chock is an element closing the passage and is tightly fitted to the specially modelled seat located in the oval part and separates the main passage. Moreover in the oval part in a perpendicular to the main passage plane guides are located. In them the chock sliders are sliding. The chock guides and sliders which cause a progressive movement of the chock and protect it from excessive oscillation coming from conducting substance. The cover has a shape of bowl to which a gland with brazen brush is screwed. Into the gland the brazen brush is forced which establishes the position of the spindle and is at the same time sliding bearing of spindle. Pairs gland/brush brush/spindle are sealed by O sealing rings. Monolithic spindle has a rier flange from stainless steel, which works as rier sliding bearing and is used to establish longitudinal spindle position. Rolled trapezoidal thread co-operating with brass nut placed in the ear of the wedge possesses the part of the spindle under the rier flange which is in the interior of the housing of the wedge. The part of the spindle going out from the housing of the wedge possesses the quadrangular pivot on which the hand wheel is fixed (in wedges to aboveground pipelines) or the quadrangular hood (in wedges to underground pipelines ). Under and over spindles the rier flanges brass mats are placed, which reduce the friction between the rier flange and gland with the brass brush, and they make up the element of reflexive sealing The rotations of the hand wheel are passed on on the spindle and exchanged on the progressive movement of the wedge become through the nut of the spindle. Turning the hand wheel according to the movement of the hands of the clock causes wedge closing, turning in the opposite direction - the opening of the wedge. 7 In case of wedges designed to be built-up in an underground pipeline opening/closing is done with T key. In such a case the spindle is extended to the ground and covered with housing while the spindle end and the hood are covered with cast iron street box. The street box, the spindle extension and the wedge housing are separate parts and are not included in the wedge set; they can be delivered on request of the ordering party. Caution: On the ordering party request the wedges can be done in a lock on the left version Sealing class. The wedges falling under the present Technical Motor Specification in the range showed in Chart 1 and in conditions of room temperature have B sealing class according to EN Chart A5 it means that during sealing trail of main lock the leakage cannot be bigger than 0,01 x DN mm 3 /s. Wedges labelling 2.1 The wedges labelling is specified by: EN-19, EN , PN-83/M norms. 2.2 Labels are put on the wedge body in a permanent way; on both sides and cover the information described below: - DN nominal diameter of wedge main passage in mm, - Material labelling according to PN-EN 1563, - PN nominal pressure in - Producer identification mark - CE sign - Production year labelling - Particular norm number, 3. ASSEMBLY AND SERVICING 3.1 Protection during transport and storing The wedge is delivered closed (with the poppet in lower position, clamped softly), with capped passage outlet. During transport and storing it is important not to lead to paint coat damage, pollution of the body inside with small sharp foreign matter(gravel, stones and steel file dust) and aggressive chemical substances or other substances dangerous for water. The wedges shouldn t be stored directly one on the other because it can cause paint coat damage, hand wheel damage, spindle deformation and as a result affect gland sealing. In order to store wedges in horizontal layers some stiff distance piece, slats, cartoons or foam etc. should be used. During transport the wedges should be protected from moving around and hitting one each other. If the wedges are transported by hoisting crane or other similar machine (in case of heavier wedges) the wedge should be tied with a rope under the oval flange. The lifting sling mustn t be fastened to the wedge driving elements ( hand wheel, hood, spindle ending) and to the holes in linking flange or to linking flange. 10 3.2 Assembly in pipeline The wedges falling under the present Technical Motor Specification built-up in an underground and above-ground pipeline(horizontal and vertical); wedges DN should be assemble only in horizontal pipelines, in vertical position. The wedges should be assembled in such a way not to be exposed on action of bending moments from powers in pipeline. Particular conditions of assembly determined by pipeline designer. In case of assembling the wedges in above-ground pipelines directly in the ground it is advised to locate wedges on concrete foundation or in a well especially in case of the bigger wedges. In case of assembling the wedges in above-ground pipelines, the project should include wedges bearing or foundation. Before starting the assembly the interior conditions of the wedges and clean them with water if needed. Caution: All pollutions and sharps objects in on the surface of the poppet or groups of wedges can cause sealing surfaces damage and loss of sealing. During the trial filling the pipeline with water the wedges should be open the wedges interior should be bled. In order to do this the gland should slacken up to leakage appearance. Then the gland should be screwed. 3.3 Servicing and conservation. The wedges falling under the present Technical Motor Specification do not require special servicing or conservation. In case of finding out any leakage of passage close the following step should be taken: - close water flow in a pipeline - open wedge - take out interior poppet and estimate the condition of poppet and seat of wedges. - in case of poppet damage it should be exchanged - in case seat of wedges it should be exchanged - the assembly should be done the other way round, keeping the rules of trail pipeline filling - before covering with ground remember to put additional isolation Caution: The producer is not responsible damages caused by wrong transport and wedge assembly, exploitation not according to Technical Motor Specification or caused by foreign matter. 11 4 GUARANTEE The product assembled and used according to Technical-Motor Specification is under producer guarantee. The detailed conditions are included in Guarantee conditions being an attachment to price list. Guarantee period is 24 months, counting from the delivery day of the product to the buyer, however no longer than 12 months from the date of product assembly according to its use.
