Frame Connection Joints for Ultra (G7), Aura (G3), or Versa 1. Any frame connection bolt should have Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel (see appendix for details) applied to the threads during assembly or anytime the bolt is re-assembled. Blue patch on bolts is not acceptable for locking 2. A M10 bolt should be torqued to 40 N-m if it is being used with a nylock nut (Versa). Vibra- Tite 135 Red Gel should be added to the bolt threads after passing through the tube and washer. 3. A M10 bolt should be torqued to 40 N-m if it is being used in a rivnut (G7 Ultra). Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel should be applied to the bolt threads after assembling the washer. BRIAN.NELSON V
Ultra (G7) Pivot Joints 1. Any pivot axle shall have Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel applied and torqued to 180 N-m. Comes from factory this way so no need to do this in assembly. This is just for service when necessary. Assembly must still grease the axle. Grease 2. Add Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel to the four M10 bolts (see below), center the arms then torque to 77 N-m. 3. The single M10 bolt (see below) connecting the arm to the axle should receive Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel. Torque to 77 N-m. #2 - Four M10 Bolts #3 - Single M10 Bolt BRIAN.NELSON V
Versa Pivot Joint 1. Use Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel on the M10 and M12 hardware attaching the axle to the frame pivot. Torque the M10 bolt to 77 N-m and torque the M12 bolt to 130 N-m Versa Model Numbers GM59 Chest Press GM63 Shoulder Press GM65 Lat Pull BRIAN.NELSON V
Ultra (G7), Aura (G3), and Versa Tie Rods 1. The ball on the tie-rod must be greased with Super Lube grease 2. The axle attaching the tie-rod should be coated with anti-seize a. Tie rods on G7 (Ultra) should be set to the length in the OM and the jam nuts should be tightened with a wrench b. Tie rods on Versa should have the screw fully engaged and the jam nuts tightened with a wrench 3. Place Vibra-Tite 135 red gel on the M6 bolt and torque to 15 N-m for all machine except the Lat Pull Down. The Lat Pull Down shall have Vibra-Tite 135 red gel and torqued to 30 N-m Anti-Seize Grease Ultra (G7) Model Numbers GM40 Shoulder Press GM41 Chest Press GM42 Lat Pull GM43 Seated Row GM45 Leg Curl GM48 Abdominal Versa Model Numbers GM63 Conv. Shoulder Press GM59 Conv. Chest Press GM65 Div. Lat Pull GM61 Seated Leg Curl Aura (G3) Model Numbers GM27 Conv. Shoulder Press GM29 Conv. Chest Press GM26 Div. Lat Pull GM30 Abdominal Crunch BRIAN.NELSON V
Back Pad Adjustment Plate 1. Remove caps on seat assembly that have the chrome back pad adjustment plate on it. 2. Remove the 4 M5 bolts (2 under each cap) and apply Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel and torque hand tight. Ultra (G7) Model Numbers GM44 Leg Ext GM45 Leg Curl BRIAN.NELSON V
Arm Curl Handlebar 1. Apply Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel to the handlebar bolt and torque to 77 N-m. BRIAN.NELSON V
Seat Assembly 1. Place Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel on the M8 bolts for the seat assembly and torque them to 25 N-m (G7) Ultra Versa BRIAN.NELSON V
All Other Locations 1. All other locations should use the rule that all M8 and M10 bolts will have Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel applied except for the following locations a. The aluminum wing on G7 Ultra and Versa b. The cable adjustment bolts on Versa All Strength Pad Bolting 1. All bolts for pads WITH PLASTIC, do not apply Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel 2. All bolts for pads WITHOUT PLASTIC, do not apply Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel NOTE: Do NOT use impact drills on pad bolts BRIAN.NELSON V
Disassembly and Re-assembly of Strength Units 1. Units should be disassembled only when they cannot fit through spaces (doors, hallways, etc.). 2. The best option for disassembly is to disconnect the frame from the weight stack. 3. First, disconnect the cable which will often be at the cam assembly on the frame. Mark with a pen which slot the cable is placed in. Take a photo showing the cable s route through the frame. 4. Second, unbolt all the frame connection joints. Throw away all nylock nuts that were removed (when applicable). 5. Move the equipment to its intended location. 6. Re-assemble the frame to the weight stack using the original bolts and new nylock nuts (if used). a. G7 units: make sure that the lower connection bar is positioned right-side up. If it is attached upside down, the unit will not be stable. b. Loosely install the hardware, do not pass the bolt all the way through the nut. c. Once the machine is in the correct placement on the floor, give it a small shake to make sure it is settled. Remove hardware pieces one at a time, apply Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel, reinstall the hardware, and then torque appropriately. The torque for a bolt into a M10 Rivnut is 40 N-m. The torque for a bolt into a M10 Nut is 40 N-m. 7. Since Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel needs 24 hours to cure, machines should be allowed to sit for 24 hours before regular use. 8. Install the cable back into the cam. Check all pulleys to ensure the cable has not fallen off. Perform the machine s exercise. 9. Adjust the cable tension if necessary. 10. Lubricate the guide rods using Super Lube aerosol. 11. Test the unit and listen for noises. BRIAN.NELSON V
G7 Ultra - Cable Tensioning Guide Cable Installation Tension Setting Procedure 1. Loosen the jam nut and remove the weight stack pin 2. Tighten cable bolt until head plate begins to move (lifts up) 3. Tighten jam nut using a wrench 4. Put as much weight on as possible, perform exercise to set cable 5. Repeat 1-3 to take stretch from 4 out of cable 6. Check cable screw with new 2014 tension gauge (part # ) and adjust position of cam clip as necessary 7. Check to make sure weight stack pin goes into every hole without hitting the bayonet Must NOT fit between bottom of the cable bolt head and the top of the jam nut (Maximum) Must fit between bottom of the cable bolt head and the top of the jam nut (Minimum) Part # Used for LARGE Head Plate Adapter Used for SMALL Head Plate Adapter Must NOT fit between bottom of the cable bolt head and the top of the jam nut Fits = NOT good, Doesn t fit = Good BRIAN.NELSON V
Head Plate Adapter Sizes Ultra (G7) Model Numbers GM40 Shoulder Press GM41 Chest Press GM42 Lat Pull GM44 Leg Ext GM45 Leg Curl GM46 Arm Curl GM47 Tricep GM48 Abdominal GM49 Leg Press GM52 Pec Fly GM53 Back Ext GM54 Prone Leg GM55 Glute GM56 Rotary Torso GM57 Calf Ext GM58 Lat Raise BRIAN.NELSON V
Small Head Plate Adapter Acceptable range for bottom of bolt head Bottom of screw is too far out not enough thread engagement for safe operation. Cam clip should be moved out. Example Move cable keeper in cam Red tab on gauge must NOT fit between bottom of bolt head and top of jam nut Not enough threads in adapter BRIAN.NELSON V
Large Head Plate Adapter EXAMPLE 1: Bottom of bolt is too far up, not enough bolt thread engagement for safe operation. Move cam clip out.. EXAMPLE 2: Bottom of bolt is too close to adapter. Move cam clip in. Acceptable range for bottom of bolt head Example 1 Move cam clip in Red tab on gauge must NOT fit between bottom of bolt head and top of jam nut Not enough threads in adapter BRIAN.NELSON V
Example 2 Move cam clip in cam Green tab on gauge must fit between bottom of bolt head and top of jam nut Cable Tension Checking Procedure 1. Remove weight stack pin 2. Place cable tension gauge against the front of the 2 forward guide rods. Position gauge halfway between the cable bolt and the top if the weight stack 3. Push cable left and right with your finger a. The head plate should begin to move (lift up) before the cable gets to the outside indicator lines on the gauge b. If the cable goes past the lines without movement, perform Cable Installation Tension Setting Procedure above Red arrow (dashed) is showing the cable is too loose Green arrow is showing the cable tensioned properly Video: BRIAN.NELSON V
G3 Aura Belt Tensioning Guide 1. Loosen bolts on fold over clamp or barrel clamp 2. Using your hand pull any slack out of the belt and using a pliers on the cut end of the belt pull to remove that slack 3. Tighten bolts using the instruction below For belting with the fold over type clamp: The bolts (with Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel (this is important as it acts as a lubricant and is related to the torque spec) should be tightened to 5 N-m using a torque wrench. The bolts should be tightened in a uniform pattern. For belting with the barrel type clamp: The bolts (with Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel (this is important as it acts as a lubricant and is related to the torque spec) should be tightened to 30 N-m using a torque wrench. The bolts should be tightened in a uniform pattern. BRIAN.NELSON V
Versa Cable Tensioning Guide The cable on all Versa machines can be adjusted at the bottom portion of the weight stack. 1. Loosen the two M10 bolts seen in the picture. 2. Using a 6 mm hex wrench, turn the adjuster bolt up or down to tighten the cable. a. A properly tensioned cable will lift the head plate with mm of deflection of the cable. 3. Torque the two M10 bolts to 77 N-m once the proper cable tension has been achieved. BRIAN.NELSON V
Tools and Supplies 1. Vibra-Tite 135 Red Gel a. This thread-locker should be applied where specified in this guide b. Gel should be applied to bolt threads around the entire diameter c. Gel should be applied after assembly of washers and through tubes to prevent gel from scraping off d. Gel should be applied and the bolt should be torqued to the appropriate level within 5 minutes of application e. This is only for chrome plated bolts 2. Anti-Seize Lubricant a. Should be applied after cleaning of the application surface b. A thin application should be applied over the entire surface of designated area Tube Brush On Stick BRIAN.NELSON V
3. Torque Wrench - able to measure in N-m To help you become familiar with a torque wrench, below are a few steps you can use to learn how to handle this tool. First, you should become familiar with the torque wrench by examining it closely. It should resemble a standard wrench except for a few key differences. The biggest difference is the dial that should be located near the bottom of the handle. When this dial is turned, it increases or decreases the level of strength of the clamp. This will in turn increase or decrease the force exerted on a nut or bolt. The level of torque that a torque wrench is set at is extremely important. Using the wrong torque can damage what you re working on. This can be dangerous, for example, if a nut or bolt is damaged and then becomes loose while equipment is in use. Review this document for appropriate torque for each bolt on a strength unit. Different models use different bolts that will need to be adjusted with different levels of torque. Adjusting the torque is quite easy. The dial near the handle simply has to be spun either forwards or backwards. However, you should observe the level you are setting the torque at quite carefully.
