Failure to do so may result in serious personal injury. DO NOT operate luminaire with missing or damaged lens. MAINTENANCE: To maintain light efficiency and prevent fixture overheating, lenses must be kept clean and free of dirt, dust, leaves, trash and mineral deposits from water. For optimum performance a regularly scheduled maintenance program must be established to insure paint coating is intact, corrosion or structural damage has not occurred, and all mounting arms, rods, nuts and bolts are tight. Failure to do so could lead to damage or serious personal injury. NOTE: All wiring should be done by a qualified electrician. KEEP THIS SHEET FOR FUTURE REFERENCE. CAUTION: Do not use colored lamps as they will create critical temperatures within the fixture. To help maintain a clean, dry splice compartment, seal the conduit entries with RTV. Do not exceed maximum wattage shown on fixture label. Make certain all electrical supply is OFF before starting fixture installation. Tools Required: J" Hex Key Wrench F" Hex Key Wrench G" Socket K" Socket Torque Ratchet (ft./lbs.) RTV Sealant Socket Wrench Extension IMPORTANT: (Prior to attaching the above grade housing) If your fixture is equipped with a multi-tap ballast and voltage was not specified on the purchase order, the ballast has been wired for operation on a 277 volt circuit (347 in Canada). If other than 277 volts is required, i.e.; 120V, 208V, 240V, distribute incoming lead to appropriate voltage. Failure to do so may damage fixture electrical components. Voltage Lead Terminal Block Lead 1 Lead 2 Lead 3 Lead 4 A. Remove rough-in debris shield from housing. Remove ballast compartment cover. Distribute incoming voltage lead to the appropriate ballast lead. B. Install ballast compartment cover and torque fasteners to 4 ft/lbs. (48 inch/lbs). Revised 7/16/10 ECN Status 4 Part No

2 Direct Burial Floodlight - DBF10 Series Installation Instructions ABOVE GRADE HOUSING INSTALLATIONS:! Make certain electrical power supply is OFF before starting installation. Desiccant 1. Remove rough-in debris shield from housing & discard. NOTE: Remember the direction of the light pattern to ensure the above grade housing is facing the correct direction. 2. Inspect housing and remove any water or debris present. NOTE: Make sure gasket and gasket surface are clean and dry. Make certain no dirt has fallen into screw holes. Any foreign object trapped in the gasket areas will create potential points of entry for ground water. Remove dessicant package from the above grade housing lens and place inside housing in a dry location. Gasket Reflector Quick Disconnect Silicone Grease Above Grade Housing Ballast Quick Disconnect 3. Place gasket on below grade housing. Connect reflector quick disconnect to ballast quick disconnect. Coat screws with silicone grease. Set above grade housing on below grade housing (make sure lens opening is facing the desired direction). 2 6 Lens Lens Frame Tighten opposing screws progressively (as shown) to 7 ft/lbs (84 inch/lbs.) 5. 3 Direct Burial Floodlight - DB10 Series Installation Instructions 6. The reflector and the reflector carriage are shipped in a standard position for each reflector distribution (Fig. 1 & Fig. 4). The DBF12, are hinged on the bottom (Fig. 2). The DBF11, 13 & 14 are shipped hinged on the top (Fig. 3). If the adjustment angles are acceptable for the task, proceed to step #8. DBF11 - Wide Flood DBF14 - Narrow Flood DBF17 - Horizontal Spot DBF12 - Vertical Flood DBF15 - Spot DBF18 - Spot Grazer DBF13 - Medimum Flood DBF16 - Narrow Spot DBF19 - Horizontal Grazer 7. To allow the reflectors to aim from 45 to 25 or 45 to 65. Follow the instructions below. 4 1 Right Hinge Pin 3 2 a. First pry the lip of the reflector with a flat blade screwdriver in each corner. This will release the four spring plugs. Remove the reflector from the housing and disconnect the quick disconnect. b. On the reflector carriage, pull the right hinge pin toward the center of the fixture. This will drop the pin out of the hole and allow the carriage to remove from the left side engagement point. 4 Direct Burial Floodlight - DBF10 Series Installatiion Instructions Small Slot Rotate 180 Tab Left Hinge Pin Right Hinge Pin c. Remove the carriage completely from the fixture and rotate it 180. Insert carriage into fixture and insert left hinge pin in top or bottom left pivot hole and carriage tab into small slot (for DBF11-DBF17 reflectors). Pull the right hinge pin toward the center of the fixture and release into the top or bottom right pivot hole. d. With the reflector carriage in the laid back position from the lens opening, grab the back of the carriage and the lip of the reflector. Snap in the four spring plugs. WARNING! This H.I.D. / Fluorescent fixture utilizes a lamp that may contain mercury. For information on disposal of lamp, go to website: 8. Install lamp of type and wattage shown on fixture label. Grease Lens Frame Coat lens frame screws with silicone grease. Install lens gasket and lens frame. Tighten opposing screws progressively (as shown) to 7 ft.-lbs. (84 in.-lbs.) Moisture Purging Procedure: Turn on the fixture and let it reach operating temperature (at least 30 minutes). Remove reflector adjustment plug. This will allow the fixture to "breathe" for 10 minutes. Adjust reflector to achieve desired lighting results with adjustment screw. Turning the screw in a clockwise rotation will move the reflector toward 45 for the DBF11-17 reflectors and toward -20 for DBF18 & 19 reflectors. Turning the screw in a counterclockwise rotation will move the reflector toward 25 or 65 on the DBF11-17 and -5 for DBF18 & Once completed, make sure gasket area & adjustment plug O-ring are clear of debris. While the fixture is still energized, install the adjustment plug and tighten until snug. 12. For fixture options, such as Fixed Hood (FH), Full Shield (FS), Lexan Shield (LS), and Color Filter Assembly (CFA4), see these specific installation instructions. RELAMPING INSTRUCTIONS:! Make certain electrical supply is OFF before starting relamping instructions. 1. Remove lens frame & lens gasket and set aside. 2. Replace lamp of type and wattage shown on the fixture label. Prior to installing lens and lens frame, make sure gasket & casting surfaces are clean and dry. Follow "Moisture Purging Procedure" detailed in step #10. Page 5 Kim Lighting E. Gale Ave. P.O. 6 Direct Burial Floodlight - DBF10 Series Installation Instructions KIM LIGHTING LIMITED WARRANTY When installed in accordance with Kim Installation Instructions and accepted trade practices, the following shall apply: General Product Limited Warranty Coverage All material and component parts used in the manufacture of Kim Products, are warranted to be free from defects of material and/or workmanship for a period of 1 year from date of sale, with the following exceptions: Auxiliary Equipment All auxiliary equipment (such as lamps, ballasts, and transformers) provided by and/or included in Kim Products shall carry the component manufacturer's warranty. Copper and Bronze Landscape Components Copper and Bronze Landscape fixture components shall be warranted against defects of material and/or workmanship, and failure due to corrosion, for a period of 25 years from date of sale. Composite In-Grade Components Composite In-Grade fixture components installed below grade, shall be warranted against defects of material and/or workmanship, and failure due to corrosion, for a period of 7 years from date of sale. Aluminum Landscape Components Aluminum Landscape fixture components not in direct contact with soil, shall be warranted against defects of material and/or workmanship for a period of 3 years from date of sale. Aluminum fixture components in direct contact with soil shall be warranted from defects of material and failure due to corrosion for a period of 1 year from date of sale. Limit of Liability and General Conditions Only products which are installed, used and maintained in accordance with applicable Kim instructions, specifications, and accepted trade practices, are covered by the Kim Warranty. During the warranty period, with proof of purchase, Kim will repair or replace with the same or similar product, at Kim's option, without charge. Labor costs are the owner's responsibility and are excluded from this warranty. This warranty is void if the product is modified, tampered with, misapplied, poorly installed, improperly maintained, or subjected to abnormal conditions. Repair or replacement as provided under this warranty is the exclusive remedy of the purchaser. This warranty is in lieu of all other warranties, expressed or implied, including any implied warranty of fitness for a particular application.
