1 GASB 1.0 Flying wing RC fully printed Instruction manual Related to Thingiverse object

2 Hallo, In this document you can find the instruction to assembly the flying wing published on Thingiverse by me. The model flew very well so you can print and fun in very short time. The design was optimized to have less part as possible (just 9 parts to printer) and to be ready to fly in few minutes. This instruction is related to version 06 that is an evolution of the previous where I put in place all suggestions and requests by the user. The RC model works very well and is one of the first pure flying wing RC printed present today on the web (summer 2017). In the Thingiverse page you can find several videos that show some phases of the fly. Please reproduce and fly, and at the end let me know your comments and suggestions. Will be very appreciated remix (with modification and changes) and make on Thingiverse page with pictures with your models. Le istruzioni si riferiscono alla revisione 6 che è una evoluzione della precedente dove ho inserito tutti i suggerimenti e le richieste che mi sono giunte dagli utenti. L aeromodello funziona molto bene ed è uno dei primi modelli tuttala stampati alla 3D oggi presenti sul web (estate 2017). 5 Printing of the parts The parts off the wings are designed as a shell of 0,4mm. The parts of body and the canopy are designed as solid. This means that for the wings is possible to print with thickness of 0,4mm (the same line of extrusion (only one perimeter) is in contact with the external and internal of the parts), or thickness of (will be made two perimeters with one line of extrusion in contact with the internal and on other line of extrusion in contact with the internal). For the wings I suggest to use CuraEngine with thickness (two perimeters). Coat thickness 0,4mm Will be done by the slicer with only one perimeter. Some time with some slicer may occur imperfection on the shell Coat thickness Will be done by the slicer with two perimeters. The material is the same but my feeling is that is more robust Dimension of the parts The flying wing was designed to fit into a standard 3D home printer with working area of 190x190x160mm. Positioning of the part in the bed of the printer The height of every part is less of 160mm instead the horizontal dimensions could be bigger than 190mm, for this reason you have to place the piece into the bed with 45% angulation. Other, the slicer put the infill grid in a fixed point of the bed not depending by the design of the part to printer. When you slice a part, with infill (like canopy, or body parts), before print, you have to check where the infill grid is located into the part and adjust the part position into the bed of the printer in order to have the most efficient positioning of the infill. Below you can check where I suggest to put the infill in every part. Shell/perimeter The parts have to be less weight as possible. For this reason, all parts must be printed with 0,4mm thickness. My printer has a nozzle of 0,35mm diameter. I saw that the slicer is able to build perimeter less or more bigger than the nozzle diameter. For the parts without infill (wings and ailerons) instead of one perimeter pf 0,4mm it is also possible print with two perimeters of the weight is the same but the parts are more robust (chose what you prefer). For the other parts that are developed as solids (body and canopy) instead is possible to print with shell more thick but the plane will be too weight. Left/right part In order to have a symmetrical assembly the STL available are only for left wing. To print the right parts, you have to use the mirror function in your slicer

7 Assembly Aileron fixing The ailerons are fixed with steel rods and are blocked in between the two part of every semi-wing. Before to glue the two pieces of wing, and fix in the meantime the aileron put the steel rod and check the aileron movement. Glue Remove the support from aileron need for a good printing The best results I ve achieved using cyanoacrylate medium. Maybe the best could be the episodic by-component but, for my experience I noted that in case of very strong crash the parts soldered with cyanoacrylate was dismount and, directly in the field is possible to fix again the parts with new CA glue.

8 Servo/aileron connection The servos are integrated into the wings. For this is needed a 9g servo. I buy this kind of servo on Aliexpress. Positioner the servo in the central of the run and fix the arm. The cables go directly to the vane into the wing. Before fix the servo pass the cable. Use bi-adhesive tape to fix the servo to the wing. Be sure that the cable arrive to the receiver. In the filed I ve put also a tape over the servo to fix better it. Wiring Put the battery, the ESC an the receiver more forward possible to respect the CG CG Under the wings there is highlighted the correct position of the CG
