4 1 Transport & Handling 1.1 Transport CS 100/125 is delivered on a pallet with the following measures CS x 80 x 145 cm 148 kg CS x 80 x 145 cm 250 kg The plate shears are packed in protective wrapping. The rear stop is dismounted and packed separately like measuring rods and sheet stop. 1.1 Handling The shear can easy be transported on the pallet which was supplied with the shear. It can also be lifted in the welded handles on the side of the machine. 1.2 Placing of the machine Placing must take place on a firm and level ground. Fasten the machine to the ground by means of the four fittings which are used to fasten the machine to the pallet. On the back of the shears the sheet stop (A) can be fitted as shown in fig When it (A) is mounted in the holders (B), loosen the handles (C) and the pointed screw (D), push the rear stop towards the lower knife, after which the measure bars (E) can be reset and the pointed screws (D) retightened. Finally remove the protection film from the protection sheet (F) and put the plug (G) for the light in a switch 1x V. Important that this machine is bolted to the floor. Before the machine is bolted to the floor the machine it is necessary to level out the machine. It can be necessary to make adjustment with distance pieces underneath the machine if the floor is not in level. The adjustment is necessary to avoid the machine for twisting and then pull uneven. 3

At first adjust the sheet stop on the back of the shears by loosening the handles (C) so the sheet stop (A) can be removed to the wanted cutting length. Then enter the work piece (H) and push it against the scale holder-on (I) (see fig. 2.1), which can be adjusted to the correct cutting angle, finally press the foot pedal (J) down to the bottom. 4

6 The sheet holder holds on the working sheet during the cutting operation, press the upper knife through the sheet and then push it back at the same time as the sheet holder loosens the sheet and the shears are now ready for a new cut. Fig. 2.1 Sheet stop (A), Working sheet (H), Scale Holder-on (I), foot pedal (J) 2.2 Security During operation the following safety rules must be kept to avoid personal and material damage. Use only recommended accessories. It is not recommended to make any technical adjustments or use any technical accessories which are not approved for the CS 100/125. By the placing of the CS 100/125 the distance between the shears and and the foundation ought not to exceed ~2 mm in order to prevent the sheet clippings to fall under the shears. It is also advised not to cut sheets which are larger than the maximum sheet dimension (see technical specifications). 5

7 2.3 Maintenance After a certain period of use it might be necessary Lubricate handle bar with acidfree oil and adjust the upper knife. The period of time depends on how many cuts the shears have made and the thickness of the sheets. When adjusting of the upper knife at first dismount the protection sheet, then loosen the 8 nuts which keep the slide bars fixed, and the nut which keeps the strenghtening of the knife member fixed (see fig. 2.2 ). Fig. 2.2 Slide Bars (K), Nut(L), Strengthening(M) Now adjust the upper knife in proportion to the lower knife keeping a knife crack of about 0,1 mm (see fig. 2.3). This can be controlled by making a cut without sheet. Hereby it is possible to control that the upper knife has a knife crack with the correct measure. Then adjust the strengthening (M) of the knife member so that there is the same knife crack in the middle as in the sides. Now retighten the nuts and remount the protection sheet (F). 6

8 It is also possible to turn the knives by dismounting the knife and turning it 180 so that it cuts the opposite edge. This applies for both lower as upper knife as they are equal. Fig.: 2.3 Upper Knife(O), Lower Knife (P) 2.4 Safety rules for stationary power tools. Follow them to achieve best results and full benefit from your new machine. The good craftsman respects the tools with which he works. He knows they represent years of constantly improved design. He also knows that they are dangerous if misused. The safety rules are based on approved practices in industrial and home shops. 1. Know your power tool. Read the owner s manual carefully. Learn its applications and limitations, as well as the specific potential hazards peculiar to this tool. 2. Keep guard in place and in working order. 3. Ground all tools. If tool is equipped with threeprong plug, it should be plugged into a three-hole electrical receptacle. If an adapter is used to accomodate a twoprong receptacle, the adapter wire must be attached to a known ground. Never remove the third prong. 7

9 4. Remove adjusting keys and wrenches. Form habit of checking to see that keys and adjusting wrenches is removed before turning it on. 5. Cluttered areas and benches invite accidents. 6. Avoid dangerous environment. Don t use power tools in damp or wet locations or expose them to rain. Keep your work area well lighted. 6. Keep children away. All visitors should be kept in a safe distance from work area. 8. Make workshop kidproof with padlocks, master switches, or by removing starter keys. 9. Don t force tool. It will do the job better and be safer at the rate for which it was designed Use right tool. Don t force tool or attachment to do a job it was not designed for. 11. Wear proper apparel. Wear no loose clothing, gloves, neckties, rings, bracelets, or other jewelry which may get caught in moving parts. Non-slip footwear is recommended. Wear protective hair covering to contain long hair. 12. Always use safety glasses. Also use face or dust mask if cutting operation is dusty. Everyday eyeglasses only have impact resistant lenses. They are NOT safety glasses. 13. Secure works. Use clamps or vise to hold works, when pratical. It s safer than using your hands and it frees both hands to operate tool. 8

10 14. Don t overreach. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. 15. Maintain tools with care. Keep tools sharp and clean for best and safest performance. Follow instructions for lubricating and changing accessories. 16. Disconnect tools before servicing and when changing accessories such as grinding wheels, polishing mops, grinding belts, blades, bits, cutters, etc. Never leave a running maschine, wait till the Machine has stopped. If parts of the machine are out of order the Machine shold not be used befour it has been repaired. 17. Reduce the risk of unintentional starting. Make sure switch is in off position before plugging in. 18. Use recommended accessories. Consult owner s manual for recommended accessories. Use of improper accessories may cause risk of injury to persons. 19. Never work in a way that can hurt you. Do not stand in a bent position. Stand straight. Alkohol and other drugs are not to be taken while working with the machine. 9
