HEAT TREATMENT To achieve optimal levels of hardness, toughness, wear- and corrosion-resistance, all of our toolsteels undergo several of the following heat-treatment processes before they can become quality cutting tools: Stress relieving Salt-bath hardening Tempering Annealing Vacuum hardening Quenching Nitriding LASER CUTTING Many of our blades are laser-cut from large toolsteel sheets which we import directly from Germany. Laser-cutting ensures that we can economically cut large series of parts to accurate sizes. As the heat from the laser effects the metallurgical structure of the steel to a shallow depth, material is added to critical surfaces for removal in subsequent operations. Good working relationships are extremely important to us and we enjoy working alongside our clients to monitor our tools performance against customer expectations. Our inspection and testing facilities allow us to analyse the capabilities of our tools and ensure that we meet or exceed quality and durability metrics. s engineers assist machinery manufacturers in optimising their cutting processes, and offer clients the ability to customise and improve their cutting tooling by tailoring it to their specific process and application. These refinements result in improved product quality, reductions in machine downtime, and marked financial savings. BRANDING All of our products are laser-engraved with both job- and part- numbers. These numbers can be traced to quality-control sheets as well as technical manufacturing drawings and procedure sheets. PERFORMANCE ANALYSIS DESIGN AND TOOL OPTIMISATION OEM and reseller branding is offered on all products. CNC MACHINING To ensure consistent quality and high accuracy, almost all of our blades are machined on CNC (Computer Numerically Controlled) machinery, which enables us to offer accuracies of down to 0.005mm. These CNC machining processes include laser-cutting, wirecutting, milling, turning, grinding and super-finishing. SHARPENING As manufacturers of top-quality cutting-tools, we are proud to also offer the service of re-sharpening these tools. Properly reground tools should offer sharp-lives similar to those of new tooling, at a reduced cost.

4 OUR TECHNOLOGY CNC solutions for a range of industries As South Africa s leading manufacturer and supplier of industrial cutting tools, we believe in investing in technology. We keep abreast of international trends in our field so that we can keep offering our customers world-class solutions. CNC TOOTHING We have a wide range of machinery dedicated to the creation of straight, circular and profiled blades as well as toothed punches and tray-sealer blades. In addition to standard cutting edges, we are able to offer V-tooth, scalloped, slotted, micro-perf, saw-tooth and steak-knife profiles, amongst others. CNC CIRCULAR KNIFE GRINDING Our circular knife grinders can grind and super-finish cutting edges on single, series or matched sets of round blades in either toolsteels, stainless-steels or tungsten carbide. Edge-honing and deburring are done in-process to avoid unnecessary handling. CNC SURFACE- GRINDING With our surface-grinders, we are able to grind tooling with diameters of up to 600mm and lengths of up to 2.5m. Our CNC surface-grinding machinery is fitted with hydrostatic electromagnetic-tables, dynamic wheel-balancing systems and an automated wheel-dressing and compensation functionality which CNC TRAY-SEALER BLADE BENDING We are very excited about the development of our in-house built CNC tray-knife bending machine. This machine, along with our automated toothing capabilities, allows us to manufacture generic tray-sealer blades to higher specifications than previously achievable. ensures high accuracies and extremely fine surface finishes. 5-AXIS CNC PROFILE GRINDING Our dynamic 5-axis CNC grinding machine can hold up to nine super-abrasive (CBN or diamond) grinding wheels at a time on its three grinding spindles. This machine can be used to grind almost any non-standard tooling as well as computer-generated arcs, curves and fine slots of down to 0.2mm width. CNC SAW BLADE GRINDING We offer customised toothing on HSS and HSS-E cut-off saw blades. Geometries and tooth numbers are tailored to each customer s specific requirements with cutting and clearance angles programmed to suit the work-piece material. We do not supply or service wood-, plastic- or aluminium-cutting TCT-saw blades.

5 POULTRY & SEAFOOD BLADES is a well-established producer of poultry- and seafood-processing blades, which we manufacture from the highest grades of German stainless toolsteels. These steels offer excellent corrosion-resistance along with superior sharp-life, enabling our blades to meet the most demanding of applications. We produce circular and straight knives with a wide range of sizes and bevels. These blades can be made with regular edges or with slots, scallops, steak-knife teeth or sweep-teeth (arcuates). In order to reduce friction, increase the surface hardness and improve the corrosionresistance of our blades, we offer the option of having them chrome-coated. also manufactures vent-cutters and supplies thin hook blades manufactured by our partners, Lutz Blades, in Germany.

6 FOOD-PROCESSING BLADES s high-quality food-processing blades are made from hardened 400 range stainless steels and ground with razor-sharp cutting edges, ensuring superior performance under the most demanding conditions. We manufacture blades for bowl-chopping, membraning, slicing, cubing, cross-cutting, die-cutting, scraping and many other applications, and keep key stock of the faster moving tools. With our wide range of computer controlled machinery we can offer blades with almost any configuration or customisation. We manufacture food-processing blades for the poultry, seafood, meat, canning, fresh fruit and vegetable, pasta, dried fruit and tea industries, amongst others.

7 PACKAGING BLADES specialises in the manufacture of the highest quality, razor-sharp tools for the fast-moving packaging industry. Our packaging tooling is made for food-packaging, vacuum forming, bag manufacturing, film converters, foil converters, and corrugating machines, amongst others. These tools are made from high grade toolsteels and stainless steels, chosen to suit each specific application. We produce toothed blades, tray-sealer blades, scissor blades, flow wrapper blades, toothed hole-punches, tape knives and punch and die sets, as well as guillotine blades. All of these tools are made to samples, drawings or OEM specifications, but can be customised to specific customer needs, increasing effectiveness and reducing downtime caused by blade changes.

8 PRINT & PLASTICS TOOLING We offer a range of products for the print and plastics industries. Our Lutz agency enables us to supply our customers with the very best quality in thin blades, while our in-house production manufactures and re-sharpens a large range of tooling for these demanding industries. We manufacture shear blades, cropper blades, parecin cutters, plastic-closure perforating blades, granulators, pelletisers, film slitters, crush-cut blades, tyre shredder inserts and more. makes highly durable blades which have a proven track record and exceptional sharp-lives. 9 FILM & FOIL BLADES BY LUTZ Our manufacturing plant produces thin blades for a variety of applications; from foodprocessing to labelling, print and packaging, as well as recycling and textile manufacture. We work closely with our partners, Lutz Blades in Germany, who offer a comprehensive range of thin blades. Lutz are undoubtably the world leaders in their field. 10 AUTOMOTIVE & METALWORKING We offer a variety of cutting solutions for the automotive industry, from airbag-nic blades to textile trimmers, saw blades, cropping blades, tyre shredders, specialised gasket knives and sheet- and tube-punches and dies.
