1 LIBERTY STATION Heber City, UT SECTION ROUGH CARPENTRY PART 1 - GENERAL: See structural drawings general notes. 1.0 RELATED DOCUMENTS A. The general provisions of the contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and General Requirements and all codes and standards referenced, apply to the work specified in this section. 1.1 SCOPE OF WORK A. Blocking 1.2 SECTION REQUIREMENTS A. Submittals: Submit the following: 1. Product data for engineered wood products, underlayment, metal framing anchors, and construction adhesives. 2. Material certificates for dimension lumber indicated for compliance with selected minimum design values. 3. Wood treatment data including treatment plant's certification of compliance with indicated for compliance of engineered wood products and metal framing anchors. 1.3 QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Reference Standards: 1. Wood Framing: Comply with requirements of IBC 2009 Edition and National Design Specifications for wood Construction, Latest Edition, as published by the National Forest Products Association. 2. Lumber: Comply with Grading Rules for Western Lumber, Latest Edition, as published by Western Wood Products Association. 3. Redwood: Comply with Standard Specifications for Grades of California Redwood Lumber, as published by Redwood Inspection Service. B. Grade Stamps: (All lumber to be grade stamped). 1. Lumber: Each piece shall be WWPA grade stamped. 2. Redwood: Each piece shall be RIS grade stamped. C. Delivery, Storage and Handling 1. Stack all material minimum of 6" above ground to insure proper ventilation and cover with waterproof covering. ROUGH CARPENTRY

2 PART 2 - PRODUCTS: 2.1 FRAMING LUMBER A. Sound, thoroughly seasoned, surfaces four sides, well manufactured and free from warp not correctable by bridging, blocking or nailing. B. Moisture Content: Maximum of 19 percent C. General Framing: As per structural drawings. D. Blocking: Doug-Fir, Utility grade or better. E. Furring: Hem-Fir, Standard grade or better. F. Composite Lumber, LSL or LVL as per plans. 2.2 REDWOOD A. Sills or plates in contact with concrete: R.I.S. Grade California redwood NO.3 or better, or treated doug fir no METAL FRAMING ANCHORS A. Acceptable Manufacturers: 1. Timber Engineering Co. 2. Simpson Co. 3. Or approved equal B. General: Provide nails and bolts according to manufacturer's requirements. C. Types: Use the following types unless indicated otherwise: 2.4 ROUGH HARDWARE 1. All purpose Framing Anchors: Simpson "A35N" or teco "All Purpose". A. Nails: Use common wire nail lengths and diameters unless noted. Threaded, hardened steel nails may be substituted for common size nails of corresponding size. Use annularring, common-wire, galvanized nails for plywood. Galvanized nails shall be hot-dip galvanized, ASTM A307. B. Bolts and Lag Screws: Common hexagonal bolts and screws, ASTM A307. C. Washers: Provide steel washers under all heads and nuts bearing against wood. Surface areas of washer to be minimum of 16 times the shank area of the receiving bolt or lag screw. Thickness not less than 1/10 of the washer diameter or length of longest side. See drawings for plate washers at anchor bolts. D. Steel Plates, Straps and Weldments: ASTM A36, size as indicated. Where welded, provide minimum of 3/16" fillet welds all sides and full length of contact surfaces unless noted. Use E60 or E70 welding electrodes. Prime with shop paint. 2.5 POWER-DRIVEN ANCHORS A. Ramset or equivalent low velocity power driven fasteners, minimum 1/8" shank diameter. Length as required to penetrate receiving member and back-up material an accordance with manufacturer's recommendations. ROUGH CARPENTRY

3 2.6 SILL SEALER A. %" x 4" Owmens Corning Fiberglass Sill Sealer, or approved equivalent. 2.7 ENGINEERED WOOD PRODUCTS: A. Provide the following products, in sizes indicated, for which current model code organization evaluation research reports exist that evidence compliance with specified requirements for application indicated and building code in effect for this Project. 1. Allowable Design Stresses: As published by manufacturer, determined from empirical data or by rational engineering analysis, and demonstrated by comprehensive testing performed by a qualified independent testing laboratory. B. Products: Subject to compliance with requirements, provide one of the following: 1. Laminated Veneer Lumber: 2. "Micro-Lam L.V.L Headers and Beams", "Gang-Lam Laminated Veneer Lumber," Boise Cascade or approved equal. 3. Pre-fabricated 'I' joists: Trus Joist, or approved equal. 2.8 PANEL PRODUCTS: A. General: 1. For types of concealed applications indicated below, provide panels that are factory marked With APA trademark B. Combination Sub-floor-Underlaymenl: Tongue and groove edged. C. Sub-flooring: APA RATED SHEATHING. D. Wall Sheathing: APA RATED SHEATHING. E. Roof Sheathing: APA RATED SHEATHING. 2.9 PRE-MANUFACTURED STAIRS: A. Acceptable manufacturers of pre-manufactured stairs includes but is not limited to: 1. Brydon Construction, Calgary, Alberta, Canada, or approved equal. PART 3 - EXECUTION: 3.1 INSTALLATION A. Set rough carpentry to required levels and lines, with members plumb and true and cut to fit. B. Securely attach carpentry work to substrates and supporting members using fasteners of size that will not penetrate members where opposite side will be exposed to view or receive finish materials. C. Install fasteners without splitting wood; fasten panel products to allow for expansion at joints unless otherwise indicated. D. Provide wood framing members of size and spacing indicated; do not splice structural members between supports. E. Provide wood blocking for all wall-mounted toilet accessories, window treatment items, cabinets, and future grab bars and wall-hung sinks, toilet partitions, millwork. Rough ROUGH CARPENTRY

4 carpentry to coordinate with door hardware provider for required blocking in walls behind door stops. F. Fasten construction panel products as follows: 1. Combination Sub-flooring Underlayment: Glue and nail to framing throughout. 2. Sub-flooring: Glue and nail to framing throughout. 3. Sheathing: Nail to framing. 4. Underlayment: Nail and glue to subfloor sheathing to framing. G. Comply with Division 1 Construction Waste Management Plan. END OF SECTION ROUGH CARPENTRY

B. Section rough carpentry Section wood "I" joists 1.2 DESCRIPTION OF THE WORK A. Includes but not limited to: 1.3 SUBMITTALS 1. Furnish and install sheathing required for walls, roofs, and floors as described in the Contract Documents. A. Quality Assurance I Control - Submittal technical and engineering data on fasteners to be set by pneumatic devices for Architect's approval of types proposed to be used as equivalents to specified hand set nails. B. Submit technical and engineering data from manufacturer furnishing the products. 1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Protect sheathing and keep under cover in transit and at job site. B. Do not deliver material unduly long before it is required. C. Store sheathing on level racks and keep free of ground. Stack to insure proper ventilation and drainage. 1.5 REFERENCES A. American Society for Testing and Materials PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS A. Sheathing: 1. ASTM D a, 'Standard Specification for Adhesives for Structural Laminate Wood Products for Use under Exterior (Wet Use) Exposure Conditions. 1. Plywood or OSB shall not exceed 18 percent moisture content when fabricated nor more than 19 percent when installed. 2. Every sheet of sheathing shall be stamped as follows: a. Appropriate APA grade stamp identifying species and span rating. b. Sheathing shall be stamped "Sized for Spacing" 3. Sheathing for subflooring shall be as indicated on drawings & structural notes. 6 4. Sheathing used for same purpose shall be of same thickness. PART 3 - EXECUTION 5. Nails as per structural notes. 6. Adhesive- Meet requirements of ASTM D INSTALLATION A. General: 1. Top of nail heads shall be flush with sheathing surface. 2. Use of edge clips to provide spacing between sheathing panels is acceptable. B. Wall Sheathing: 1. Spacinga. Stagger panel and end joints. 2. Edge Bearing and Blockinga. Panel edges shall bear on framing members and butt along their centerlines. b. Back block panel edges which do not bear on framing members with 2 inch nominal spacing. c. Nailing- Place nails not less than 3/8 inch from edge and 12 inches on center along intermediate supports and 4 inches on center along panel edge unless shown otherwise on Drawings. d. Thickness- as indicated on drawings C. Roof Sheathing: 1. Placinga. Lay face grain at right angles to supports. Provide blocking for support where framing turns at roof overhang. b. Provide 1/8 inch space between sheets at end and side joints. c. Stagger panel end joints. d. Sheathing shall be continuous of two spans minimum. e. Nailing- as noted on drawings. f. Thickness- as indicated on drawings. D. Floor Sheathing: E. Protection 1. Subflooringa. Apply bead of glue to structural supports and apply plywood at right angles to supports. b. Nail panel ends and as indicated on drawings. c. Allow expansion gap of at least Y, inch at walls. d. Thickness- as indicated on drawings. 1. Coordinate joist designs with mechanical duct locations indicated on mechanical drawings. 1.2 SYSTEM DESCRIPTIONS A. Design Requirements: 1.3 SUBMITTALS 1. Custom design joints under supervision of registered professional engineer. Design shall be in accordance with allowable values assigned by building code approval. 2. Only connections and webs currently approved by Research Committee of ICBO are acceptable for use. A. Shop Drawings 1. Include the following: a. Stamp and signature of Engineer responsible for preparation of shop drawings. b. Show critical dimensions for determining fit and placement in building as well as loads plywood web joists are designed to support. c. Flange materials and sizes. d. Size, thickness, and dimension of web. e. Lumber species and grades used. f. Name and trademark of Manufacturer. B. Quality Assurance/Control 1. Complete design calculation showing internal layout, member forces, and stress control points for each joist design. 2. Copies of ICBO reports showing approval of connections and webs. 1.4 DELIVERY, STORAGE AND HANDLING A. Store joists in vertical position protected from weather. B. Handle with care to prevent damage. The general provisions of the Contract, including General and Supplementary Conditions and General requirements, as well as all codes and standards referenced, apply to work specified in this section. 1.2 DESCRIPTION OF WORK A. Products supplied but not listed under this section: 1.3 SUBMITTALS 1. Glu-Lam beams 2. Hardware and steel shapes except those embedded in or bolted to masonry concrete or welded to structural steel. A. Product Data: For structural glued-laminated timber and connectors. B. Shop Drawings: Show layout of structural glued-laminated timber system and full dimensions of each member. Indicate laminating combination. C. Certificates of Conformance: Issued by a qualified testing and inspecting agency indicating that structural glued-laminated timber complies with requirements in AITC A QUALITY ASSURANCE A. Qualifications: Fabricator shall be licensed by American or Canadian Institute of Timber Construction, or American Wood Systems. B. Certifications: Each beam shall bear AITC, APA-EWS, or CITC quality mark. C. References: 1. American National Standards Institute a. ANSIIAITC A "Structural Glued Laminated Timber" 2. American Society for Testing and Materials a. ASTM A 36-94, "Standard Specifications for Structural Steel" 1.5 DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. General: Comply with provisions in AITC 111, "Recommended Practice for Protection of Structural Glued Laminated Timber during Transit, Storage, and Erection." B. Individually wrap members using plastic-coated paper covering with water-resistant seams. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2. 1 MATERIALS: STRUCTURAL GLUED-LAMINATED TIMBER Heber City, UT

Glue-laminated beams for cantilevers, continuous spans, and columns shall have an Fb value for compression zone equal to Fb value specified for tension zone (balanced combination.) 1. Moisture content-12 percent maximum for straignt, 10 percent maximum for curved. 2. Appearance- Industrial. C. Glue- Exterior type with mold inhibitor. D. Hardware & Steel Shapes- Meet requirements of ASTM A FABRICATION A. Fabricate in accordance with ANSI/AITC A B. Camber beams to radius of 2000 ft unless shown otherwise on Drawings. PART 3 - EXECUTION 3.1 INSTALLATION A. General: Erect structural glued-laminated timber true and plumb, with uniform, c1osefitting joints. Provide temporary bracing to maintain lines and levels until permanent supporting members are in place. 1. Lift with padded slings and protect corners with wood blocking. B. Fit structural glued-laminated timber by cutting and restoring exposed surfaces to match specified surfacing. 1. Predrill for fasteners using timber connectors as templates. 2. Dress exposed surfaces to remove planing or surfacing marks and to provide a finish equivalent to that produced by machine sanding with No. 120 grit sandpaper. C. Cutting: Avoid extra cutting after fabrication. Where field fitting is unavoidable, comply with requirements for shop fabrication. D. Repair damaged surfaces after completing erection. Replace damaged structural gluedlaminated timber if repairs are not approved by Architect. E. Do not remove wrappings on individually wrapped members until they no longer serve a useful purpose including protection from weather, sunlight, soiling, and damage from work of other trades. 11 LIBERTY STATION Heber City, UT SECTION PRE-FABRICATED METAL-PLATE-CONNECTED WOOD TRUSSES PART 1 - GENERAL: See Structural Sheet Notes 1.0 RELATED DOCUMENT: A. "All materials used in this project must comply with the "Buy American Act", meaning that all materials used in this project must have been produced in the USA, NAFTA countries, or Designated Countries. Refer to Section for details." 1.1 SCOPE OF WORK: A. Wood trusses 1.2 SECTION REQUIREMENTS A. Standards: Comply with N.F.P.A. National Design specification for Wood Construction" and with TPI standards including "Quality standard for Metal Plate Connected Wood Trusses", "Commentary and Recommendations for Handling and Erecting Wood Trusses", "Commentary and Recommendations for Bracing Wood Trusses" and the following: 1. "Design specification for Metal Plate Connected Parallel Chord Wood Trusses". B. Submittals: In addition to product data for truss components submit the following: 1. Shop drawings showing sizes, design values, materials, and dimensional relationships of components as well as bearing and anchorage details. a. Provide shop drawings that have been signed and stamped by a professional engineer legally authorized to practice in jurisdiction where Project is located. C. Single-Source Engineering Responsibility: Provide trusses engineered by the metal plate connector manufacturer to support superimposed dead and live loads indicated, with design approved and certified by a professional engineer legally authorized to practice in jurisdiction where Project is located. D. Fabricator's Qualifications: A firm that participates in a recognized quality assurance program that involves inspection by SPIB; Timber Products Inspection, Inc.; Truss Plate institute; or other independent - inspection and testing agency acceptable to Architect and authorities having jurisdiction. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.1 MATERIALS A. Lumber: Provide lumber S4S, grade marked, complying with DOC PS 20 and requirements indicated on drawings. 1. Moisture Content: Seasoned, with 19 percent maximum content at time of dressing and shipment. B. Metal Connector Plates: Metals and thickness as indicated, but not less than thickness indicated below: 1. Where trusses are exposed to weather or to high relative humidity, provide hot-dip zinc-coated fasteners per ASTM A 153 or AISI Type 304 stainless steel fasteners. D. Metal Framing Anchors: Provide metal framing anchors of type, size, metal, and finish indicated that comply with requirements specified including the following: 2.2 FABRICATION: 1. Allowable Design Loads: As published by manufacturer and determined from empirical data or by rational engineering analysis and verified through comprehensive testing by a qualified independent testing laboratory. Design gusset plates for 15% more than design loads. 2. Galvanized Steel Sheet: Zinc-coated by hot-dip process to comply with ASTM A 525, Coating Designation G60, and complying with ASTM A 446, Grade A; ASTM A 526; or ASTM A 527. A. Fabricate trusses in jigs with members accurately cut to provide good bearing at joints. Joints shall be acceptable if the average opening between ends of members immediately after fabrication is no greater than 1/16 inch, except that truss compression chord joints at splices and ridges shall have full contact between members. Each chord section shall be involved in two panel points before being spliced. B. Approved Fabricators - Approved fabricators shall fabricate trusses in accordance with Contract Documents including use of specified gusset Plates. 1. Alpine Engineering Products, Inc. 2. Acutruss Industries, LTD., Kelowna, B.C., Canada 3. Approved equal 2.3. METAL GUSSET PLATES: A. Member forces used for design of plates shall be those shown on Drawings, except as follows: 1. Member forces derived from structural analysis may be used if within plus or minus 6 percent of forces shown on Drawings. 2. Use member forces derived from structural analysis if greater than 6 percent of forces shown on Drawings. B. No panel point shall have more than one plate per truss side. C. Plates shall have minimum bite of 2-1/2 inches on members. Measure bite along center km of webs and perpendicular to chord axes. Orient plate axis parallel with truss chord and except where chords change pitch at joint. D. Plate Sizes: 1. Minimum width of plates shall be 3 in. 2. Trusses other than Scissor Trusses - Size plates, nail and steel section, for 135 percent of member forces. 3. Scissor Trusses - Size plates, nail and steel section. for 160 percent of member forces. 13 4. No increase in plate values will be allowed for duration of loading or other factor. E. Press plates into members to obtain full penetration without crushing outer surface of wood. Plate embedment is acceptable if opening between plate and wood surface is less than 1/32 inch. F. Lumber defects and plate misplacement in combination, shall not reduce plate area or number of effective teeth, prongs, or nails by more than ten percent. G. Do not apply metal gusset plates after shop fabrication. PART 3 - EXECUTION: 3.1 INSTALLATION A. Install trusses to comply with tpi referenced standards and other indicated requirements. Product data DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING A. Store materials for exterior woodwork under cover, off the ground, and supported to prevent warpage. ( B. Store materials for interior woodwork indoors in air conditioned spaces maintained within design temperature and humidity range. c. Treated Wood Products: Handle and store as recommended by treatment manufacturer

15 1.05 PROJECT CONDITIONS A. Maintain final design temperature and humidity in areas where woodwork is installed. B. Fit woodwork to actual construction. If it is not possible, or practical, to take field measurements before fabricating, provide adequate installation tolerances and scribe or trim to fit. C. Coordinate installation of woodwork with other work to avoid damage. D. Coordination Data: 1. Furnish locations and types of all blocking and other anchors to be built into substrates to installers of such work. 2. Furnish treatment manufacturer's instructions for fabrication, handling, storage, installation, and finishing of treated wood materials to fabricators and installers. PART 2 - PRODUCTS 2.01 WOODWORK A. All 1-2. Woodwork: Species: Finishes: As indicated on drawings. As indicated on drawings WOOD MATERIALS A. Lumber: Species and grade as indicated; lumber ready for installation shall comply with WM 4, "General Requirements For Wood Molding," Wood Molding and Millwork Producers (WMMP). 1. Softwood: Comply with NBS PS 20 and grade in accordance with the grading rules of the grading and inspection agency applicable to the species. 2. Hardwood: Grade in accordance with National Hardwood Lumber Association grading rules. 3. For transparent finish, use only solid pieces of lumber; WM 4 N-grade. 4. For opaque finish, pieces which are glued up may be used; WM 4 N- or P-grade. 5. Where glued-up lumber is used on exterior, use waterproof adhesive. 6. Moisture content: Not greater than that required by applicable grading rules; provide kiln-dried lumber. 7. Provide lumber dressed on all exposed faces, unless otherwise indicated. 8. Do not use twisted, warped, bowed, or otherwise defective lumber. (') ---'

Preservative treated lumber: Treat after fabrication by method indicated. a. Comply with all other material requirements without reducing effectiveness of treatment WOOD TREATMENTS A. Preservative Treatment by Pressure Process: Pressure-treated using chroma ted copper arsenate solution, Type C (oxide), complying with AWPA P5; kiln dried after treatment to specified moisture content. 1. Lumber: Treat in accordance with AWPA C2. 2. Comply with recommendations of treatment manufacturer for retention and penetration. 3. Treatment products: The following products will be among those considered acceptable: a. "Wolmanized"; Hickson Corporation MISCELLANEOUS MATERIALS A. Primer: As specified in Division 9. B. Fasteners: Style, size, material, and finish as required for the purpose. 1. For exterior use with opaque finished woodwork: Nonferrous, stainless steel, or steel hot-dip galvanized in accordance with ASTM A FABRICATION A. Fabricate in sizes and shapes indicated and using details indicated. 1. Edges and trim to be scribed to fit may be left loose. 2. Ease edges of solid lumber members where indicated, using: a. l/16-inch radius for members 1 inch or less nominal thickness. b. lib-inch radius for members more than 1 inch nominal thickness. B. Work preservative-treated wood in accordance with treatment manufacturer's recommendations; treat cut surfaces as recommended by treatment manufacturer. ( C. Where woodwork is indicated to be field finished, sand smooth, fill nail holes, clean thoroughly, and otherwise prepare for finishing. D. Standing and Running Trim: Miter exposed ends of members

17 to match profile. 1. Rout out backs of flat members over 2 inches wide, unless ends are exposed. 2. Kerf backs of flat members over 4 inches wide, except where ends are exposed. Preinstallation Meeting: Before delivery of woodwork, have the woodwork installer meet with the entity responsible for operation of the HVAC system (or temporary HVAC system) to explain the necessity for maintenance of the design temperature and humidity in woodwork storage and installation areas. Before installation of woodwork, have the woodwork installer meet with installers of related and adjacent work to discuss sequence of installation, protective measures, and consequences of damage to woodwork. E. DELIVERY, STORAGE, AND HANDLING 1. Store materials for interior woodwork indoors in air conditioned spaces maintained within design temperature and humidity range. F. PROJECT CONDITIONS 1. Maintain final design temperature and humidity in areas where woodwork is installed. 2. Fit woodwork to actual construction. If it is not possible, or practical, to take field measurements before fabricating, provide adequate installation tolerances and scribe or trim to fit. 3. Coordinate installation of woodwork with other work to avoid damage. 4. Coordination Data: a.
