1 Medium Pro Table Top Stand Build Manual Thank you for purchasing a Foam-Flite model airplane stand. Your Foam-Flite stand was designed by modelers just like you looking for an economical and versatile stand to make it easier to work on and protect model aircraft on the workbench and at the field. We hope you enjoy your stand and find many uses for it. If you have any questions please contact us. The Foam-Flite tabletop stand kit includes all the wood and hardware for one complete stand. Check over the parts and hardware before you start your build. If there are any damaged pieces or missing hardware please contact us before beginning the assembly process. The Following Hardware is included in the kit: 16 ¾ Pan Head Screws 8 ½ Pan Head Screws 2 ¼-20 Studs 2 ¼ Lag Screws 2 ¼ Washer 14 ¼-20 Nuts Stove Bolts 4-2 Stove bolts 4 1 Stove Bolts To assemble the Table Top Airplane Stand you will need a few basic tools: #2 Phillips head screwdriver 7/16 Wrench or Socket driver Sandpaper

The stand was designed to be built without the use of glue.

The parts are held into the sheets by small tabs and are removed easily with a razor blade. Start by removing all the parts from the sheets. You will want to do a light sanding on all the parts.

If you would like to finish your stand with stain and sealer be sure to do this before assembly to ensure a smooth fit of the parts.

2 The stand was designed to be built without the use of glue. If you do feel the need to add glue to any of the joint be sure to use it sparingly and clean up any that seeps out as the smooth fit of the parts is essential to the functioning of the stand. The parts are held into the sheets by small tabs and are removed easily with a razor blade. Start by removing all the parts from the sheets. You will want to do a light sanding on all the parts. Make sure any small tabs have been removed and the parts are smooth. If you would like to finish your stand with stain and sealer be sure to do this before assembly to ensure a smooth fit of the parts. 1) Throughout the build you will be assembling the star knobs with the ¼-20 nuts, stove bolts and wood washers. You do not need to glue the nut into the star knobs as the bolt tension will draw them in and hold them in place. Be sure to use a wood washer on each piece and draw the stove bolt all the way into the wood. 2) Locate the four pieces for the main body. Using the 12 3/4 pan head screws and the predrilled holes fix the four pieces together. Make sure the screws are tight but don t over turn them and strip out the holes.

3) On each end of the completed center body there are two holes.

Stop when the nut is ¼ from the body. Make sure the stud goes in straight or the leg will not fit properly.

Tighten this down just enough so that it is held snug but the leg can rotate.

3 3) On each end of the completed center body there are two holes. The top one will house a ¼-20 stud with a star knob to adjust the angle and the bottom one will hold the lag screw to hold the leg in place. Start with the stud on the top. Thread a ¼-20 nut onto the outside end and use a 7/16 wrench or socket to screw the stud into the top hole. Stop when the nut is ¼ from the body. Make sure the stud goes in straight or the leg will not fit properly. With the stud in place slide the leg on and line up the holes on bottom for the lag screw. Tighten this down just enough so that it is held snug but the leg can rotate. Install a star knob on the end of the stud and tighten it to hold the leg in place. (repeat for the other side) 4) Locate the inner arm pieces with the slots and pilot holes drilled in them as well as the rectangular rail pieces with four pilot holes in them. These will create the channels for the outer arms to slide into. Using the ¾ button head screws attach the rails to the sides of the inner arms using the pre-drilled holes in each piece. Then using the 2 stove bolts and star knobs attach them to the center of the main body.

Use the 1 stove bolts and star knobs to attach them to the cradle piece on the opposite side from the knuckle. 7) Now find the outer arm rails and the 2 1/2 stove bolts. Attach the cradle assembly to the outer arm rails and secure them with a star knob. 8) Locate the arm braces with the ¼ holes in the ends. Using a 2 1/2 stove bolt and star knob attach them to the center body piece.

9) Slide the outer arm assembly onto the inner arm rail.

10) Do a final check of all the stove bolts to make sure they are all drawn into the wood and there is a wood washer on each one.

You may choose to add either a #X Rubber band around each cradle arm, glue on foam rubber or find any other way to add cushion or grip to the cradle.

5 9) Slide the outer arm assembly onto the inner arm rail. Then using a 2 1/2 stove bolt attach the arm braces to the arm assembly making sure the arm can slide smoothly. 10) Do a final check of all the stove bolts to make sure they are all drawn into the wood and there is a wood washer on each one. Check that you can move the arms all the way in and out as well and adjust the arms on the cradles. You may choose to add either a #X Rubber band around each cradle arm, glue on foam rubber or find any other way to add cushion or grip to the cradle. We leave this choice up to you. Your stand will collapse down to store nicely and expand out to hold a variety of planes. You can even set it up to be used as a balancer.
