Page 3 of April 2016 II SPECIFIC PROVISIONS 1 Subject of approval and field of application The subject of approval are mechanical fastening elements for regular load bearing connection of steel components with each other or with steel or timber supporting structures (does only apply to screws). The different types of fastening elements are described in the following (see also Annex 1): - Blind rivets Bind rivets consist of a sleeve and a mandrel which may has a predetermined break point. When riveting the components, the access to the closing head side is not required. - Thread forming screws They are divided into: - Self tapping screws which tap their counter thread chipless into an existing matching hole - Self-drilling screws with a drill bit, so that the drilling of the hole, the tapping of the counter thread and the screwing-in are done in one operation. - Sharp-point screws with a convex threaded point, so that the forming of the hole by material extrusion (extrusion drilling), the tapping of the counter thread and the screwing-in are done in one operation. - Cartridge fired pins Cartridge fired pins are driven by fastening tools in one step through the component to be fastened into the supporting structure until the washer contacts the surface. The washers serve to guide the fasteners while they are being driven into the base material. The washers also serve to improve the bearing area. This national technical approval (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung) specifies the connections executed with the mechanical fastening elements for static or quasi static loads. This national technical approval (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung) does not rule the application of the structural components to be connected. 2 Characteristics of the construction product 2.1 Characteristics and composition Dimensions The main dimensions (nominal dimensions) are given in the Annexes. Further information with regard to the dimensions and tolerances are deposited at Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik Materials General For the materials of the fastening elements and the structural components to be connected the details in the Annexes apply unless otherwise stated in the following.

As soon as the fault has been rectified as far as technically possible and required for evidence that the fault has been rectified the corresponding test shall be repeated immediately Surveillance Factory production control exercised in every manufacturing plant shall be continuously verified by surveillance, but at least once a year. In the framework of surveillance, an initial-type testing of the fastening element shall be performed and also samples can be taken for audit-testing. Sampling and testing are in the responsibility of the approved body. The results of the certification and surveillance shall be kept for at least five years. On request, it shall be presented by the certification body or inspection body to the Deutsches Institut für Bautechnik and to the relevant supreme building authority. 3 Provisions for design and calculation 3.1 Design General Fastening elements completely or partly exposed to weathering or similar moist conditions shall consist of corrosion resistant material unless not otherwise specified in the respective Annex. This does not apply to possibly welded drill bits or rivet mandrels. The fastening elements with corrosion protection (e. g. by galvanizing) mentioned in this approval shall only be used where moistening of the fastening element is not expected (this generally applies for the inner shell of multi shell roof and wall structures in dry and predominantly closed rooms as well as for unventilated single shell roof structures with top side insulation and for ceiling systems in dry and predominantly closed rooms) Blind rivets Blind rivets shall only be used for connections without or with negligible small constraining forces due to temperature Thread forming screws Thread forming screws may be used for the connection of structural steel components with each other or with steel and probably timber supporting structures (see also 3.2.1, Para. 4) Cartridge fired pins Cartridge fired pins shall only be used for the fastening of thin-walled structural steel components to steel supporting structures and only in compliance with the application rules given in the Annexes. The upper limits for tensile strength of the respective steel grade in the application limit diagram have to be taken into account.

Page 6 of April 2016 If the existing tensile strength of the used steel is known or the real applicability of the fastening with cartridge fired pins is determined by setting tests a deviation from the upper limits of tensile strength given in the application limit diagram is possible. 3.2 Calculation General The verification concept given in DIN EN in conjunction with the National Annex DIN EN 1990/NA 4 applies. For the calculation of the acting tension and shear forces, the respective standards apply as e. g. the applicable standards of the Eurocode. In the following and in the Annexes the structural components to be fastened are named component I and the components on which will be fastened are named component II. For fastening to a supporting structure the supporting structure is component II. For connections of steel components with timber or timber based supporting structures only fasteners with corresponding characteristic resistance values given in the Annexes shall be used Characteristic values of resistance For the different fastening elements the characteristic values of resistance are given in the Annexes (see also clause and 3.2.8). These characteristic values of resistance consider the possibly failure modes as hole elongation in one of the components, skewing of the fastening element, pull-through of the profiled sheeting, pull-out from component II or breakage of the fastening element. The following applies: - characteristic value of tension resistance N R,k V R,k - characteristic value of shear resistance For intermediate thicknesses of component I or component II the characteristic value for the thinner component shall be taken Additional rules for connections with timber or timber based supporting structures Timber supporting structures shall be made of pine timber of at least the strength class C24 according to DIN EN in conjunction with DIN or of glued-laminated timber according to DIN EN The additional rules for connections with timber supporting structures of this clause do only apply to screws where is referred to this clause in the Annexes. DIN EN in conjunction with the National Annex DIN EN /NA 9 apply unless no other provisions are made in the following. 3 DIN EN 1990: Eurocode: Basis of structural design 4 DIN EN 1990/NA: National Annex Eurocode: Basis of structural design 5 DIN EN Timber structures - Strength graded structural timber with rectangular cross section - Part 1: General requirements 6 DIN : Application of construction products in structures - Part 5: Strength graded structural timber with rectangular cross section 7 DIN EN 14080: Timber structures - Glued laminated timber and glued solid timber - Requirements 8 DIN EN : Design of timber structures - Part 1-1: General - Common rules and rules for buildings 9 DIN EN /NA: National Annex - Design of timber structures - Part 1-1: General - Common rules and rules for buildings

Page 7 of April 2016 The following applies: d l g l g - nominal screw diameter (is equal to the external thread diameter) - screw-in length (part of thread extended into component II inclusive probably existing tip or drill bit) = L - t 1 - s M - s K with: L - screw length (partly also designated l) t 1 - thickness component I (for more components to be fastened t 1 = Σ t 1,i applies) s M - thickness of the metal part of the sealing washer s K - thickness of the sealing of the sealing washer l ef - effective screw-in length (equal to penetration depth of the threaded part) l ef = l g l b with l ef 4d with: l b - length of the unthreaded part of the drill bit (l b = 0 for screws without drill bit and l b = d for sharp-point screws) N R,k = F ax,rk k mod V R,k = F v,rk k mod with: F ax,rk = F ax,α,rk for α = 90 F ax,α,rk acc. DIN EN , equation (8.40a) F v,rk acc. DIN EN , clause 8.2.3, equation (8.9) k mod acc. DIN EN , equation (8.16) M y,rk in equation (8.9) shall be obtained from the appropriate Annexes to this national technical approval (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung). Possible given values for the characteristic yield moment M y,rk acc. DIN 1052 in the Annexes may be use alternatively for calculation. As far as no values are given in the Annexes, M y,rk may be calculated as follows: M y,rk = 0.3 f u (1.1 d k ) 2.6 [Nmm] d k d k f u f u - thread core diameter, if no values are given it may be calculated in approximation with: = 0.7 d - tensile strength of the wire the screws are made of. The following value may be used without further verification: = 500 N/mm² f ax,k in equation (8.40a) shall be taken from the appropriate Annexes to this national technical approval (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung). The partly declared values in the Annexes for the pull-out parameter f 1,k according to DIN 1052 may be used alternatively for calculation. As far as no values are given in the Annexes, f ax,k may be calculated in approximation with:

Page 8 of April 2016 f ax,k = ρ 2 k [N/mm²] with: ρ k - characteristic raw density of the timber structure in kg/m³, ρ k 500 kg/m³ ρ k = 350 kg/m³ for strength class C24 The characteristic values for tension resistance N R,k (pull-out from timber structure) and shear resistance V R,k (bearing resistance of timber structure) for component II, calculated according to clause shall be compared with the characteristic values N R,k (pull-through) and shear resistance V R,k (bearing resistance) for component I obtained from the appropriate Annexes. The lower value shall be used for further calculations Design values of resistance For the calculation of the design values of resistance from the characteristic values the following applies: N R,d = V R,d = N γ V γ R,k M R,k M with γ M = Combined tension and shear forces For combined acting design tension forces N and design shear forces V the following verification procedure for interaction applies: N N R,d + V V R,d Shear forces due to temperature The admissible types of connection a, b, c, d (see Annex 1.1) without additional verification of the shear forces in case of temperature changes are given in the Annexes respectively next to the characteristic resistance values in the tables. If a type of connection is not given next to the tabular values in the Annexes the use of the respective fastening element for the fastening of this type is only admissible with a verification of the constraining forces (shear forces) due to temperature. Without this verification the respective fastening elements shall only be used in the designated component combination unless constraining forces do not occur. This restriction does not apply to connections of profiled sheeting with supporting structures which are elastic in the longitudinal direction of the sheeting (e. g. steel liner trays or thin walled purlins or girts) where due to their flexibility constraining forces due to temperature do not occur or are not significant. This does also not apply to rigid joints in non-insulated roofs Special applications For special applications according to Annex 1.2 the characteristic values of tension resistance shall be reduced by the reduction factor given in column 2 of the Table in Annex 1.2. The lowest value in each case has to be taken for combined applications.

Page 9 of April Additional rules for fastening of perforated sheets For the fastening of perforated sheets (structural component I) only fastening screws with diameters given in Annexes 5.1 to 5.4 of companies listed there shall be used for which characteristic values are given in the Annexes to this national technical approval (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung) for unperforated sheets of same thickness and strength class as for the perforated sheets. For the calculation of the connection the characteristic values for the connection of unperforated sheets according to the relevant Annex and for the connection of perforated sheets according to Annex 5.1 to 5.4 shall be determined. The lower values shall be used for further calculations. The fastening to perforated sheets (structural component II) is not ruled in this national technical approval (allgemeine bauaufsichtliche Zulassung). 4 Provisions for execution The following provisions apply unless otherwise stated in the specific Annexes. Connections in accordance with clause 1 shall only be executed by companies with the necessary experience unless the instruction of the assembly personnel is arranged by specialists experienced in this field. Screws shall be screwed-in with electric screw driver with appropriate set depth stop. The use of impact wrenches is not allowed. Clause shall be considered for fastening elements exposed to weathering or similar moist conditions. It is to guarantee by the execution that no bimetallic corrosion can occur. For regular shear forces the structural parts to be connected shall be in contact with each other and the shear joint shall be at the contact point of component I and component II so that the fastening element does not get additional bending. The additional use of compression resistant thermal insulation strips up to a thickness of 3 mm is allowed. The fastening elements shall be fixed rectangular to the surface of the components to guarantee a correct load bearing and if necessary rain-proof connection. During installation of fastening screws admissible for timber supporting structures, except self-drilling screws, the components I and II to be connected shall be predrilled with 0.7 d unless no other instructions are given in the Annexes. Supporting structures made of structural timber with a characteristic raw density of more than 500 kg/m³ or of Douglas-fir shall be also predrilled for the use of self drilling screws with the diameter of the drill bit and of the whole screw-in length l g. The effective screw-in length for timber supporting structures shall be least 4 d unless no larger values are required in the Annexes or in the execution plans (layout drawings). Fastening screws for steel supporting structures shall be screwed-in with the cylindrical part of the thread - through the material if component II has a thickness up to 6 mm and - at least 6 mm if component II has a thickness of over 6 mm. Welded drill bits or hardened tips shall therefore not be taken into account. The manufacturer s information about the maximum clamp length shall be considered. Already loaded fastening screws in regular load bearing connections shall only be replaced by thread forming screws with a larger diameter. Therefore the hole has to be predrilled for the thicker fastening screw. Cartridge fired pins shall in principle only be driven by tools mentioned in the appropriate Annexes. The upper limit of the tensile strength of component II shall be observed (see clause 3.1.4). The right choice of the cartridge strength shall be controlled by the head stand-off of the pin (see Annexes).

Page 10 of April 2016 The following minimum spacing and edge distances shall be met for all kinds of fastening elements and steel components: - edge distance in the direction of load e 1 3d; but at least 20 mm - edge distance perpendicular to the direction of load e 2 1.5d; but at least 10 mm - spacing p 4d; but at least 40 mm For timber supporting structures, the spacing and edge distances obtained from DIN EN in conjunction with the National Annex DIN EN /NA 8 apply.
