Then insert next Rail into the swaged ending of the first Rail. Attach together by inserting two sets of 3/8" bolt into the circle holes, with flange nuts on the other end. Leave finger tight. Repeat Steps until Rails reach the south end of the array. There are slotted holes available at each swaged Rail joint which allows the Rails to traverese changes in the roof (Notify GameChange of these joints). Also remember to place slipsheet or rubber blocks (under Panel Support locations) under rails.. 3) Continue with the rest of the N/S Rail columns as you did with the first column. Always remember to use the longest Rails when you can, and to save the shorter Rails for the ends of the columns, or where there are breaks. 4) Make a N/S spacer jig that indicates the distance of the row to row spacing, as shown in the layout, and the distance of ". 5) Place the Jig Starting at the northern edge of the N/S Rails. Make a mark on the N/S Rails " approx. from the northern edge. Mark this distance on all N/S Rail columns. 6) Place the first E/W Rail, with the open center facing down, so that the northern edge of the E/W Rails are approx. at the " mark on the N/S Rails. Attach the E/W Rails to the N/S Rails using two /4-20 x /2" hex bolts, at diagonally opposite corner locations, and secure with /4" serrated flange nuts. Torque hardware to specifications. ) When the first E/W Rail is fully installed, attach the next E/W Rail to the first one using the swaged endings. Attach Rails together by inserting two sets of 3/8" bolt into the cirlce holes. Attach 3/8" flange nuts and torque to specification. Repeat until E/W row is finished.there are slotted holes available at each swaged Rail joint which allows the Rails to accommodate changes in the roof (Notify GameChange of these joints). Columns of N/S Rails 9 E/W Rail on top of N/S Rails 9 0 8) Use the jig to mark the row to row spacing south of the previouse mark on the N/S Rails. This is where the second E/W Rail row will begin. Repeat these steps for all E/W Rail rows. Always remember to use the longest Rails when you can, and to save the shorter Rails for the ends of the rows, or where there are breaks. Row to Row spacing 9) Ballast Rails are attached on array where noted on the layout. Measure from the southern wall of E/W Rail and place Ballast Rail such that its north side is approx. 8" away. Install the Ballast Rails where indicated on the layout and follow the same steps as the E/W Rails. 0) Place ballast block on Ballast Rails where indicated on the layout. Customers are responsible for making sure the roof structure is inspected, repaired and can support the loading resulting from the GC Grid-Lite System and provided PV modules Follow all safety instructions that are required by relevant local, regional and national organizations and procedures as outlined in this Install manual, both for mechanical and electrical aspects of the solar PV array installation. When encountering undocumented or unexpected obstacles requiring a work around. Work arounds should be noted on working drawings, notified to supervisor for evaluation. Work should then be completed in a manner that ensures that the remainder of the array is not affected. GC Grid-Lite System is to be mounted over a fire resistant roof covering rated for the application. Do not install on roofs with a slope of more than.5 degrees. (Contact GameChange regarding installation of Reference Install Manual for installation. Not following install manual may result in voiding warranty. Recommended that an inspection of the roof is conducted both prior to and after the installation of the GC Grid-Lite System in order for the continuation of the roof warranty. Make sure to place the array in areas where there is no shading Install the array facing as close as possible to south. Follow local building inspector setback rules. Do not connect over 50 feet of panels without a break in the array to avoid potential issues caused by thermal expansion and contraction. Material Storage Make sure to install system within several days of receipt of components. Storage of components in a damp or wet environment can lead to white rust on galvanized parts as well as other damage on other protective coatings which can lead to accelerated corrosion to components, and void the warranty. Galvanization is especially prone to white rust when components are still bundled because the zinc coating requires airflow over its surface to establish its protective patina, otherwise water can cause corrosion of the zinc and it has no protection against it in enclosed spaces, such as those between parts that are bundled. Tool Required /6-inch drivers, sockets and wrenches for /4-inch hex bolts or screws 9/6-inch drivers, sockets and wrenches for 3/8-inch hex bolts Suggested driver torque /4-inch hardware, use 5 ft-lbs 3/8-inch hardware, use 6-8 ft-lbs String Line Tape Measure Jig (sized to panel and panel and inside dimensioned panel mounting holes) for spacing. Anti-Seize lubricant such as LocTite for bolts must be used for all stainless steel hardware Concrete Ballast blocks (UV Resistant and freeze-thaw cycle resistant if in climate where freezing occurs) per GameChange Ballast plan. Dimension of the blocks should be " x.63-.5". Height should be under 2.5 inches for 5 degree tilt and up to 4 inches for 0 degree tilt systems. EPDM or other slip sheets that protrude.5 inches around sides of all Rails resting on roof must be used. Slip sheets should be compatible with the roof type at the installation, the material of which may be advised through consultation with the building's roofer to avoid risk of voiding the roof warranty. GameChange recommends that they must be at least.045 inches thick. Alternatively, rubber blocks may be bought from GameChange which are approximately 2 inch wide x 5 inch long with.25+ inch height above the roof surface to be placed under the Rails under the Panel Supports. These are made of EPDM. Make sure the roofing material vendor approves the use of these blocks in place of approved slip sheets so that you do not risk voiding the roof warranty. Make sure that the PSF on the roof under the rubber blocks is not higher than the roof is designed to accomodate, this is very important. High seismic activity areas where non-attached systems are used require specially designed rubber blocks or extra wide slip sheets. Consult GameChange for more information. Preventative Maintenance An inspections should be done after all storms with severe winds (over 80% of design wind speed) to make sure all component of the installation and torque settings remain correct. Annual inspection must be done for mechanical movement due to any reason including thermal expansion and contraction. Any mechanical movement must be rectified. Torque settings must be checked for all hardware. All Clips must be checked to make sure there is no gap between side of Clip and module. Install Panel Supports from the north end fo the array to the south end. - Recommended ballast blocks: 3) When the south end of the array is reached, complete the columns by placing Panel Support Souths. and attach using two /4-20 x /2" hex bolts and /4" serrated flange nuts. Torque to specification. 22lbs (3x8x6) for 5 deg 34lbs (4x8x6) for 0 deg 3 2 ) Place Panel Clip over panel frame and hole on the Panel Support. Attach using a /4" x 2.5" long serrated head hex bolt, or a hex bolt and lock washer, through the Panel Clip an into the hole in Panel Support. Torque to specification. 8) Repeat steps on all panels. When the southern row of panels is reached, attached using the Panel Clip and /4" hardware into the Panel Support South. Finished System. Attach Wind Deflectors using /4" x /2" hex bolts through slots on wind delfector and into slots on Panel Supports. Use four bolts for the 0-deg system, and use two bolts at middle locations for the 5-deg System. 5) (If required) Place Fire Guards on E/W Rails with mounting tabs over holes. Attach using /4" x /2" hex bolts thorugh holes on Fire Guards and E/W Rails. 5 Tabs 3 4 9) The panels and racking system are all bonded together, east to west and north to south with use of Panel Clips or Grounding Strips installed. Ultimate earth ground shall be achieved via the mounted UL 03 Listed PV modules, as specified per corresponding installation manuals. GameChange recommends up to 6 strings may be grounded together. Repeat for each 6 strings. Use provided ground lug /4" hole in Rail. The entire system needs to be grounded from a single point to an appropriate grounding source. **Please confirm with an electrician, as this is their responsibility** Material Storage Make sure to install system within several days of receipt of components.
