Subject to technical modifications SAFETY INFORMATION AND WARNINGS WARNING This appliance complies with the compulsory safety regulations for electric equipment. However, improper use can be harmful to people and property. Please read these operating instructions carefully and completely before switching the appliance on. Keep the operating instructions, the guarantee certificate, the receipt, as well as the packaging and packaging material if at all possible. This appliance is designed solely for use in the private sector and for the designated purpose. The appliance is not suitable for commercial use. Don't use the appliance outdoors (unless it has been specifically designed for use outdoors). Don't subject the appliance to heat, direct sunshine or very high moisture (e.g.rain). Never immerse the appliance in liquids and be aware of sharp edges that may damage it. Never use the appliance with wet or damp hands. Unplug it immediately if the appliance becomes wet or damp when it is running. Don't immerse the appliance in water. WORK AREA KEEP WORK AREA CLEAN AND WELL LIT. Cluttered, dark work areas and benches invite accidents and injury. AVOID DANGEROUS WORK ENVIRONMENTS. Do not use power tools in damp or wet locations or expose power tools to rain. Do not use power tools in the presence of flammable liquids or gases as normal sparking of the motor could ignite fumes. KEEP CHILDREN, BYSTANDERS AND PETS AWAY. Bystanders and children should wear safety glasses and be kept a safe distance from the work area. Do not let others make contact with the tool or extension cord. Distractions can cause you to lose control. ELECTRICAL SAFETY CHECK THE POWER SOURCE VOLTAGE. Before connecting a tool to a power source (power point receptacle, outlet, etc.) be sure that the voltage supply is the same as that specified on the nameplate of the tool. A power source with a voltage greater than that specified for the tool can result in serious injury to the user, as well as damage to the tool. If in doubt, do not plug in the tool. Using a power source with a voltage less than the nameplate rating is harmful to the motor. POWER TOOL PLUGS MUST MATCH THE OUTLET. Never modify the plug in any way. Do not use any adaptor plugs with earthed (grounded) power tools. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets will reduce the risk of electric shock. GUARD AGAINST ELECTRICAL SHOCK. Prevent body contact with grounded surfaces and objects such as water pipes, radiators, cookers and refrigerator enclosures. DO NOT ABUSE THE CORD. Never carry the tool by its cord or yank it to disconnect it from the socket. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock. Disconnect the tool from the power supply immediately if the supply cable is damaged or cut. EXTENSION CORD. When an extension cord is used make sure: That the pins on the plug of the extension cord are the same in number, size and shape as those of the plug on the unit. That the extension cord is properly wired and in good electrical condition. That the wire size is large enough for the AC ampere rating of the unit. Ensure that the male and female plug connection is elevated and out of the way of any water contact. OUTDOOR USE EXTENSION CORDS. When the tool is used outdoors, use only extension cords intended for use outdoor and so marked. DO NOT EXPOSE POWER TOOLS TO RAIN OR WET CONDITIONS. Water entering a power tool will increase the risk of electric shock. PERSONAL SAFETY USE SAFETY EQUIPMENT. Always wear eye and hearing protection. Safety equipment such as safety glasses, a dust mask, non-skid safety shoes, hard hat, safety gloves or earmuffs, used for appropriate conditions will reduce personal injury. Everyday eyeglasses have impact resistant lenses only, they are not safety glasses. A face or dust mask is also required if dust is going to be created. DRESS CORRECTLY. Do not wear loose clothing or jewelry, they can be caught in moving parts. Rubber gloves and non-slip Footwear are recommended when working outdoors. If you have long hair, wear protective hair covering. STAY ALERT AND EXERCISE CONTROL. Watch what you are doing and use common sense. Do not operate a tool when you are tired. Do not rush. 1

4 SAFETY INFORMATION AND WARNINGS DO NOT OPERATE THIS TOOL WHILE UNDER THE INFLUENCE OF DRUGS, alcohol or any medication. AVOID UNINTENTIONAL STARTING. Always check that the switch is in the OFF position before plugging in the tool to the power supply. Do not carry a plugged in tool with your finger on the switch. DO NOT USE TOOL IF SWITCH DOES NOT TURN THE TOOL ON OR OFF. Have defective switches replaced by an authorised service centre. TOOLS ARE NOT INTENDED FOR USE BY YOUNG OR INFIRM PERSONS WITHOUT SUPERVISION. Young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the tool. REMOVE ADJUSTING KEYS AND WRENCHES BEFORE TURNING THE POWER TOOL ON. A wrench or a key left attached to a rotating part of the power tool may result in serious personal injury. DO NOT OVERREACH. Keep proper footing and balance at all times. Do not use tool on a ladder or unstable support. Secure tools when working at elevated levels. CONNECT DUST EXTRACTION EQUIPMENT. If devices are provided for the connection of dust extraction and collection facilities, ensure these are connected and properly used. Use of these devices can reduce dust related hazards. DO NOT ALLOW PERSONS UNFAMILIAR WITH THE POWER TOOL OR THESE INSTRUCTIONS OPERATE THE POWER TOOL. Power tools are dangerous in the hands of untrained users. POWERTOOL USE AND CARE KNOW YOUR POWER TOOL. Read this Operating Manual carefully learn its applications and limitations as well as the specific potential hazards related to this tool. DO NOT FORCE THE TOOL. The tool will do the job better and safer working at the rate for which it was designed. USE THE CORRECT TOOL FOR THE JOB. Do not force small tools or attachments to do the job of a heavier duty tool. Never use a tool for a purpose for which it was not intended. THE TOOL MUST BE USED FOR ITS PRESCRIBED PURPOSE. Any use other than those mentioned in this manual will be considered a case of misuse.the user and not the manufacturer shall be liable for any damage or injury resulting from such cases of misuse. SECURE YOUR WORK. Use clamps or a vice to hold your work. It is safer than using your hands and it frees both hands to operate the tool. DISCONNECT IDLE TOOLS. Switch off the power and disconnect the plug from the power supply before servicing, when changing accessories and when the tool is not in use. MAINTAIN TOOLS WITH CARE. Keep tools sharp and clean for better and safer performance. Follow instructions for changing accessories. Inspect tool cords periodically and, if damaged have them repaired by an authorised service facility. Inspect extension cords periodically and replace them if damaged. Keep tool handles dry, clean and free from oil and grease. Never use brake fluids, petrol, petroleum based products, or any strong solvents to clean your tools. CHECK DAMAGED PARTS. Before using a tool, check that there are no damaged parts. If a part is damaged, carefully determine if it will operate properly and perform its intended function. Check for misalignment of moving parts, binding of moving parts, breakage of parts, proper mounting and any other conditions that may affect the operation of the tool. A part that is damaged should be properly repaired or replaced by an authorised service centre, unless otherwise indicated in this Operating Manual. Defective switches must be replaced by an authorised service centre. Do not use a tool if the switch does not turn the tool on and off correctly. DISCONNECT THE PLUG FROM THE POWER SUPPLY BEFORE MAKING ANY ADJUSTMENTS, changing accessories, or storing the power tool. Such preventative safety measures reduce the risk of starting the power tool accidentally. USE ONLY APPROVED PARTS. When servicing, use only identical replacement parts. Use an authorised service centre to fit replacement parts. DO NOT MAKE ANY CHANGES TO THE TOOL. The manufacturer shall not be liable for any changes made to the tool nor for any damage resulting from such changes. STORE TOOLS SAFELY. When not in use, tools should be stored in a dry, high and locked-up place, out of reach of children. SAFETY INFORMATION AND WARNINGS WARNING: This electric tool is manufactured in accordance with the relevant safety requirements. To assure safety and reliability, all repairs should be performed by an Authorised Service Centre or other Qualified Service Organisation. Please also pay particular attention to the following "Special Safety Rules". This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. SPECIAL SAFETY RULES Always wear safety eye wear, ear and respiratory protection when operating the circular saw. Do not fit grinding discs to this circular saw. Always use the correct type of blade for the operation to be carried out. Only use blades of the size recommended by the supplier. Always keep the blade securing arbor and collars clean. Only use blades in a good clean condition. Do not stop the blade by using a sideways pressure or by forcing the circular saw. Only use blades rated for this circular saw. The rotational speed (rpm) shown on the blade should always be higher than the No Load Speed (rpm) of the circular saw. Ensure that the directional arrow on the blade matches the direction of the motor. The blade teeth should always point up when viewed from the front of the circular saw. Never use blades that are larger than specified by the supplier. Do not use blades made from high speed steel. Do not use blades that are bent or missing teeth. This could cause injury to both the user and bystander. Before using the circular saw allow the blade SAFETY to run up RULES to speed. FOR CIRCULAR SAW Never lock the moving guard in the open position. Always ensure that movable guards operate freely without jamming. If the circular saw makes an unfamiliar sound or vibrates excessively, switch the circular saw OFF immediately and disconnect from the mains power supply. Investigate the possible cause or consult your authorised service facility. Do not start the circular saw with the blade in contact with the work piece. Always check the work piece for any protruding nails, screw heads or anything else that may damage the blade. Ensure that there are no obstructions underneath your work piece. It is easy to cut into sawhorses and bench tops. Always carry the circular saw using the handle. Never use a circular saw when standing on a ladder. If additional height is required a stable platform or approved scaffold must be used. Never use your circular saw upside down. Never clamp your circular saw to a bench or other device. ADJUSTING THE DEPTH OF THE CUT AT 90 The depth of the cut is the distance between the base of your saw and the highest point located on the saw blade. To adjust the cutting depth, loose the lever on 2 3

5 OPERATION Cont. the depth guide and move the base up or down. At the desired depth of cut, secure the base by tightening the lever. (fig. 2) ADJUSTING THE CUTTING ANGLE The levers that lock the cutting angle between 0 and 45 are located at the front and rear of the saw. (fig. 3) Adjust the cutting angle by using the scale in degree, which is located at the front of the saw. (fig. 4) The two notches that indicate 0 and 45 are used as guides to indicate the location of the blade relative to the cutting position. (fig. 5) PARALLEL CUT After inserting and fixing the parallel guide to the front of circular saw, you can make a straight cut parallel with the board edge. REMOVING OR INSTALLING SAW BLADE CAUTION Always be sure that the tool is switched off and unplugged before carrying out any work on the tool. Be sure the blade is installed with teeth pointing up at the front of the tool. Use only the provided wrench to install or remove the blade. To remove the blade, press the spindle lock so that the blade cannot revolve and use the hex wrench to loosen the hex bolt counterclockwise. (fig. 6) Then remove the hex bolt, outer flange and blade. (fig. 7) To install the blade, revers the steps above, BE SURE TO TIGHTEN THE HEX BOLT CLOCKWISE SECURELY. When changing blade, make sure to also clean upper and lower blade guards of accumulated sawdust. Check lower guard operation before each use. SECURE WORK PIECES Ensure that work pieces are adequately supported and clamped and that the area to be cut is clear of the support (s) and clamp (s). Never use any part of your body to hold the work piece. Always use clamps. Always ensure that material is level with no bends which could cause kick back. STARTING AND STOPPING YOUR CIRCULAR SAW To turn your circular saw ON Push in the safety button and squeeze and hold the trigger. To turn your circular saw OFF Release the trigger and allow the blade to stop spinning before placing your circular saw on the ground. USING THE CIRCULAR SAW Ensure that your work piece is adequately supported and clamped. The circular saw is a two handed portable power tool. Always use with both hands on the saw. Adequately secure and support the work piece. Mark the cut line. Adjust the depth of cut and the angle of cut on the circular saw. Plug the circular saw into the mains power point. Rest the front edge of the base plate on the work piece. Ensure that the blade is NOT touching the work piece. Line up the saw blade with the cut line. Start motor by squeezing the trigger. Allow the blade to run up to highest speed. Slowly push the circular saw forward, keeping both hands on the saws handles. Fig.8 shows the appropriate position for the user. You should not align yourself right behind the circular saw to avoid being hit by the saw kickback. Once you have completed the cut, release the trigger. Allow the blade to stop. Turn the power point OFF and unplug the circular saw. Gently place circular saw on the ground. KICK BACK Kick back occurs when the blade stalls rapidly and is driven back towards the operator. To avoid kick back ensure the blade is clean and sharp. Ensure that all work pieces are supported as noted above. Release the trigger if the blade binds or stalls. Never remove the saw from the work piece while the blade is rotating. Always have both hands on the saw. If kick back occur, the circular saw may jump backwards and cause severe injury if your hand is around the base of the saw. MAINTENANCE Certain cleaning agents and solvents damage plastic parts. Some of these are: gasoline, carbon tetrachloride, chlorinated cleaning solvents, ammonia and household cleaners containing ammonia. Do not use any of these to clean the saw. Blades become dull even when cutting regular lumber. A sure sign of a dull blade is the need to force the saw forward instead of guiding it while making a cut. Take the blade to a service center for sharpening. Keep the cooling vents on the motor housing clean and unobstructed at all times. Blow out any dust and dirt at regular intervals. Worn carbon brushes are to be replaced only by a specialist workshop. 4 5
