2 1 What is ccessible Locking? ccessible locking concentrates on three main areas, providing unhindered access to the cylinder keyway and cylinder thumbturn, eliminating the need to form a grip and the need to rotate the wrist and providing leverage to significantly reduce the force that needs to be applied. Extracts that are particularly relevant when selecting locking hardware are: C D "To ensure that people with impaired vision and/or dexterity have unobstructed access to the keyway, the cylinder should either be above the lever handle or the minimum distance between the handle and the keyway of the locking mechanism should be 72mm." 11 Meeting the standard - EN 164-1:2, CE Marking 1 S EN 164-1:2 'Fire resistance tests for doors and shutter ssemblies - Part 1: Fire doors and shutters' Two specimens of single-acting, single leaf doorsets incorporating the Securefast ccessible lock, Securefast cylinders and other various items of building hardware were tested against EN 164-1:2. The Securefast ccessible lock and Securefast cylinders were successful for the test duration of 4 hours (steel uninsulated doorsets) and 1 hour (timber doorsets). The following Securefast ccessible items were included: 2 mortice sashlock, 212 mortice deadlock, mortice latch, 9 emergency nightlatch, 5 double nightlatch and 2 deadlocking nightlatch CE Marking CE marking is set out in the Construction Products Directive and is placed onto the UK market by the Government through the Construction Product Regulations CE is also endorsed by the uilding Regulations Part M. It is of significance for hardware products in relation to Fire and Escape situations.
