2 OPERATING MANUAL: The purpose of this Operating Manual is to demonstrate the SAFE USE of the SLOGGING HAMMER. BACKGROUND: Nuts and Bolts need to be loosened and fastened in almost all industries, i.e. Mining Industry (open air & underground) Petroleum Industry Oil Rig Industry (offshore & underwater) Water Industry Farming Industry Construction Industry Power Stations etc. By using the conventional method a hammer with a large enough weight is swung onto a slogging spanner to loosen or tighten bolts and nuts. This method is hazardous when areas become cramped and employees are in close surroundings. One operator cannot successfully work the hammer and slogging spanner at the same time. The operator holding and guiding the slogging spanner is always at risk of shrapnel and at the mercy of the operator swinging the hammer. OBJECTIVE: Figure 1 Figure 2 The Slogging Hammer was developed to overcome these hazards, to bring SAFETY to the operator and employees in his surroundings. Figure 3

3 OPERATING PROCEDURE: Figure 4 Hands must be placed on the indicated areas. The Sliding handle is designed to protect the operator s hand when sliding handle forwards and backwards to produce force. The opposite hand must be placed on the Tube to increase stability. Sliding the shaft backwards produces momentum and leverage. Once the shaft has reached full extension, forward sliding produce force that again produces an impact onto the Slogging Spanner. By repeating this action, enough energy will be generated to loosen or tighten the nut. Hands must not be placed on the indicated areas, as this could lead to injury. Make sure the Sliding Handle is perpendicular to the Slogging Spanner. Pull the Sliding Handle upwards to produce a stroke. Use the full stroke of the Sliding Handle. Generate force by sliding the Sliding Handle downwards. With the force produced the impact generates momentum to loosen the desired Nut or Bolt. Align pre-drilled hole of the Slogging Spanner with Locking Pin shaft and the Barrel slotted section. Slide the Locking Pin shaft through the slotted section and the pre-drilled hole. Align the Removable Cap hole concentric with the Locking Pin hole. Fit the Retaining Ring by sliding the Retaining Ring shaft through the aligned holes. Flip the Retaining Ring over the Removable Cap to secure the assembly.

5 PRODUCT MAINTENANCE: EYEBOLT IMPACT HEAD SLOGGING SPANNER Figure 17 Figure 18 Figure 19 With product maintenance, mainly three components have to be maintained. Namely the Slogging Spanner, Impact Point and the Safety Eyebolt. The Slogging Spanner will wear with time due to impact with the Impact head and with nut removal. The Impact Head is made from a shock-resistant material and heat treated to the correct hardness for a maximum lifespan. With impact the Head will wear and needs to be replaced after some time. These components are available from the distributor. SAFETY FEATURES: The Impact Point is encased within a tube when impact occurs. There is NO HAZARD for hands or fingers getting injured. Figure 20 ` An eyebolt is added to the back of the Sliding Handle to support a safety cable that can clip on to the eyebolt and to a fixed structure ( fixed piping ), to prevent the whole assembly from falling if the operator is working on higher grounds Figure 21 The flange on the handle provides protection for the workers hand when slipping occurs.
