3 Prologue The adventure of the young Vairon begins in the peaceful village of Yatapah. This young boy dreams of traveling around the world of Zeriliah to discover all the wonders that exists and fight monsters in epic battles. The chief of Yatapah village categorically refuses to let the young Vairon go on a journey because he has sworn to his parents to watch over him. Vairon thinks he must prove something in order to be able to leave the village and one day he decided to go to the forbidden cave... Presentation of the hero Vairon is a turbulent and stubborn young man who only thinks of discovering new horizons. He wears an armor that he has made himself and handles his sword from an early age. He wears a bandana which is the only thing he has from his parents.

4 1. Before start Installing the game With Steam client, simply click the install button and follow the on-screen instructions. With the.exe file (when you don't buy the game on Steam), double click on it, choose your installation directory and follow the on-screen instructions who simply consists to push on the "Next" button. Title screen. When the game is installed and launched, you will find yourself on the title screen with three options. New Game You can choose three difficulty modes : Easy / Normal / Hard The Normal mode is highly recommended for a first approach of the game. The easy mode is available for those who don't like much difficulty. Hard mode is recommended for a second run of the game or if you are a skilled gamer. Continue This option allows you to load your save. Quit This option allows you to close the application and return to the desktop. Full screen Windowed mode

5 You can change the screen display mode by pressing the F5 and F6 keys to find the display that suits you the best. 2. Main screen and action bar. 1. Vairon, the main character. 2. A monster. Attacks you once nearby. 3. Your life bar, if it reaches 0 it's Game Over for you. 4. Gold. 5. The action bar. The empty slots allows you to install weapons, items and other things with the keys : [I]/[N].

6 3. Using the keyboard Multidirectional arrows [Up] [Down] [Left] [Right] Allow to move the hero in the four directions. Keys : [F] [G] [H] [J] [R] [T] [Y] [U] Action bar buttons, you can attribute weapons, items and other things to them. Keys : [I]/[N] Those buttons allows you to access the Equipement menu. You can see your items, weapons and other things. From this menu you can attribute the things you want to the action bar. Keys : [Enter] (space bar too) This key allows you to do a lot of things : Speak to characters Open a chest or a door Activate or turn off a lever or a button. Validate a choice Jump to a specific place Take or raise an object Direction lock You can lock Vairon's direction manually by pressing the [S] key. It can be usefull in some fights or places. Combining the bow and the direction lock is usually a good idea.

7 You can lock Vairon's direction in an "automatic" way by pressing [A] key one time and pressing it again to take off the lock. 4. Vairon's equipement. Sword The main weapon of the hero. It serves to fight a big variety of monsters. Klakaboum The Klakaboum is usefull to destroy things like rocks. It can be usefull to activate some far mechanisms. You can throw it after raising it with the action key [Enter]. The Klakaboum is very effective on a lot of ennemies. Be careful when it explodes! Bow You can use it to kill far ennemies and activate some mechanisms. Grapple The Grapple is usefull to cross a chasm. It can hurt a lot of ennemies. Magic wand The magic wand throws fire and allows Vairon to melt some obstacles like ice pillars. Very effective on ice ennemies. Yobou crystal This item allows you to retrieve items that monsters drop and that are not within reach. Allows to see HP monsters too. Hammer The hammer is used to activate some mechanisms on the ground and can also be usefull as a weapon. Is is not very accurate to inflict damages, but it is very powerfull and make ennemies go back. It can paralyze ennemies.

8 5. Life, items and key items. To fill your life gauge after suffering from damages, you can either sleep in a place provided for this purpose or use items. You can sleep on your bed or in an Inn. Here are two examples : There are various items for healing Vairon. Medicinal herb Restores 20 HP Bread Restores 50 HP Meat Restores 80 HP Items : You can find other objects like Klakaboums or arrows. You can install all this objects on the action bar. If you use an object less than others and don't want to put it in the action bar, you can go in the [ESC] menu to use it directly. In this menu if you "use" an item that don't heal Vairon you will drop it.

9 Load enhancement : At the beginning of the adventure, Vairon can only carry a limited number of each type of items. For example, you can carry a maximum of 15 Klakaboums, 30 arrows and 10 medicinal herbs at the start of the game. You will soon learn how many items of each type Vairon can carry. Side quests will often reward you and improve the number of items you can carry with you, so don't forget sometimes to help your neighbor. Key items : Sometimes you can find some key items in Vairon's Wrath. This kind of items can't be used directly, but they allow you to progress in your journey. For example, a key can open a door. Here are some key items that you can find : key A simple key that allows to open a door. Rosalyd Nice flower who grows in wet places. Wood Single piece of wood. Improvements items : This items serve to improve your life bar and help you carry more items. Life nut It improves your HP by 10 points (5 points in hard mode), very usefull. Bomb bag

10 Allows you to carry 5 more Klakaboums. Arrows quiver Improves the number of arrows Vairon can carry by 10. Warning! Improvement items are optional items and quest rewards. To find all of them you will have to discover all the secrets of Zeriliah. Some of them can only be obtained at a specific time and can therefore be lost forever. 6. How to save your game and leave the game To save your progress and be able to continue your journey you will find various saving points like this one : Some of them will be able to heal you, so always take a loot. Note that in the world map it is possible to save at any time without needing a save point. To quit the game press the [ESC] key and choose "Leave the game". 7. 11 8. Quick presentation of the bestiary You can discover here some monsters that you will see in your journey. Every monster has it's own behavior, so learn to use the weaknesses of each of them to your advantage. Study the ennemy and strike at the riht time! Floubyh : 10 HP Melee attack rather slowly. It is easy to dodge a Floubyh attack. Kroapouille : 12 HP Melee attack with it's tongue. For distance attacks it uses a water attack. Chamguignon : 10 HP Melee attack and it's able to put the hero sleeping with a spore attack. If you see one of them, eliminate it first if it's possible. Magsnot : 12 Hp Melee attack and distance attack with fire. These attacks can burn Vairon. You can heal a burn with water. Orc : 20 HP Uses melee attack and it's very aggressive.

12 9. Other information Achievements / Success. The Steam version of the game features "Achievements". You can unlock them performing certain actions. Try to unlock every one of them to discover all the secrets of the game. Gamepads. It's possible to play with a controller. All you have to do is to use "remapping" softwares and adapt the keys. If you take the time to make a good configuration you'll be able to enjoy Vairon's Wrath like a console game. We recommend a gamepad with a good number of buttons, like that you can assign a button for each action of Vairon. Check out the game forums to find help on this. The F1 key is used to configure the gamepad and keyboard. We recommand to disabling the entire gamepad section by setting "-" everywhere and leaving only the keyboard part active to avoid conflicts with remapping softwares. We recommend the configuration on the screen below when using a gamepad.

13 List of problems encountered. A key that can disturb We learned that there was some problems with the [F12] key. Normally when a player use this key, it forces the game to reboot, however restarting the game using this key may cause some problems until you leave the game. We therefore advise you to use it to avoid problems during the game. If you use it once, we advise you to quit the game and restart the exe file or restart the game on Steam. Thank you for your understanding. A name with an accent can cause troubles. If your Windows user name has an accent on it or a non-english character, the game may crash at startup. We opted for a save system that stores your save in a special windows directory saving you to loose your progress even if you uninstall the game and install it again. If you encounter this problem because your username has an non-english character, it is easely possible to fix this problem by creating a new user session with no non-english character and installing the game in that user session. This problem exists with some video games and it's possible to find other solutions to solve it but this solutions requires a bit more skills on the computer field. 14 Back to windows in cut-scene. Returning back to windows while a cut-scene is playing can pose some small timing problems on the cut-scene. If you want to appreciate all the cut-scenes like we imagined them, we advise you not to do something else on the desktop at the same time. A PC not powerful enough? If your machine gets old and the game seems to have some framerate worries, try to uncheck the box "Reduce Screen Flickering" with the [F1]. This reduces a little bit the display quality, but allows the computer to rest a little more.
