6 getting started Grasp the drifting system You will not make most of a dent on the leaderboards if you don t learn how to drift properly in the game. If you can maintain a drift for a specific amount of time, you will trigger a speed-boost effect which usually is applied when you take your finger off the drift button. There are 3 different kinds of boost available on Switch, as compared to the standard 2 on the Wii U edition. When you have drifted far sufficient that you see tiny blue sparks fly out from underneath your vehicle, which means you can initiate the 1st stage boost. If you can maintain onto that drift for long to spark orange flames underneath your kart, you will instead advantage from a bigger speed boost when you eventually let go. Continue going and you will obtain a 3rd pink tier for an actually longer boost. Each and every extra bit of speed aids in Mario Kart 8. We will assist you get over the finishing line first. 16
