6 Buzztime Basics: Key Concepts for Success We have been working with bars and restaurants for a long time, and there are a few key concepts that we have found are vital to your success with Buzztime, no matter what type of location you have. Follow these every-day basic actions and best practices to get the most out of Buzztime: Get your Buzztime Tablets charged, clean and ready for action Charge Buzztime Tablets overnight, every night, so they are ready for the next day s play Keep Buzztime Tablets clean with dry towel or alcohol-free wipes for similar tablet and computer device cleaning wing sauce does tend to splash! If a Buzztime Tablet needs repair, call Buzztime s Customer Service team at Keep your Buzztime Tablets in plain sight When your system is installed, work with our service provider technicians to place your tablet charging station in plain view so patrons and staff can see your Buzztime Tablets and ask about the games Set out five tablets on the bar and tables within easy view of patrons each morning If a guest has to ask for them, you are missing entertainment and sales opportunities! Dedicate TVs to Buzztime and turn them on Players should be able to see Buzztime on your TVs without a lot of effort Tune into the appropriate Buzztime channel each morning when you turn on the TVs Good rule of thumb: put Buzztime on 25% or more of your TVs to draw attention to the games Educate your existing and new staff on Buzztime Keeping your staff trained is a surefire way to make sure your guests play, and your staff will benefit from higher check averages that mean more tips for them! You can even sell your Buzztime ad space to other local businesses to create a new revenue stream Make sure that your staff mentions Buzztime to each and every patron Here are a few example icebreaker lines: What would you like to drink? You can play Buzztime games for free while you wait! If you register for PlayersPlus, you can track your scores, get a chance to win prizes and receive alerts on Buzztime promotions and events! 8 Buzztime Tablets We have been working with bars and restaurants for a long time, and there are a few key concepts that we have found are vital to your success with Buzztime, no matter what type of location you have. Follow these every-day basic actions and best practices to get the most out of Buzztime: When they pick up a Buzztime Tablet, players press the Touch Here button to get started This screen, our Digital Attract mode, is always on when a tablet is powered on and is designed to get a guest s attention and drive them to pick up a tablet, register as a member and start playing The interface is designed to be intuitive and easy to follow When they need to enter any data or answers on a screen, tablet users are presented with a digital keyboard so they can type their response in using the touch screen 8

9 Buzztime Tablets Within the tablet s main lobby screen, players can select Buzztime trivia, Buzztime cards or an arcade of exciting standalone video games by touching an icon on the screen ARCADE GAMES If a player selects Arcade, they are taken to a lobby where they can choose from a selection of action, strategy and puzzle games To play an Arcade game, they select a game title by clicking on it to see a preview of the game and then click Play Now>. Players follow instructions for the game selected. 9

10 Buzztime Tablets Within an Arcade game, players use the touch screen to play, and each game will have different controls and buttons To go back on an Arcade game screen, players click the U turn arrow icon in the bottom center of the screen If they would like to exit back to the Arcade lobby, players click the Home icon in the bottom center of the screen; once in the Arcade lobby, players click fback to return to the main Tablet lobby where they can select other games 10

11 Buzztime Tablets TRIVIA AND CARDS GAMES If a player selects a Buzztime game from the tablet s main lobby screen, they will be prompted to log in with their previously established Buzztime PlayersPlus member account details (click Already a Member players can retrieve their password if they forgot it once they enter their address), register for PlayersPlus (click Join) or play as a guest (click No Thanks) Once they have logged in, registered or decided to play as a guest, players are taken to the Buzztime game currently in progress Tablets show both a Buzztime game question on screen and allow the player to answer questions as well Within a Buzztime game, players use the touch screen to play 11

12 Buzztime Tablets Trivia games ask players to select the right questions within a given timeframe Card games ask players to call, raise, fold or go all in, just like they were playing with actual cards (no betting allowed!) If they would like to exit back to the main Tablet lobby, players click the Exit Game icon (a symbol of a man running) in the bottom left of the screen where they can select other games to play 12

13 Buzztime Tablets ACCESSING A PLAYER S BUZZTIME ACCOUNT Registered, logged in players can click the My Account button when it is displayed in the bottom right of the screen to access their points, badges that they have earned, buddies and friends that they have linked to their account and their history of playing Buzztime games 13

14 PlayersPlus Members and Registration for Your Guests PlayersPlus lets your patrons register as Buzztime players to compete against other members across North America for bragging rights, prizes and more. Registering your Buzztime guests is also great for marketing your location and driving repeat visits. Buzztime sends triggered s to registered players on upcoming national and regional promotions, new games and features and special prize opportunities that incentivize them to return to your location. Once registered, Buzztime can also track each time guest logs in and plays. Your patrons can play Buzztime as a guest without registering, but it is far more fun when they are registered as PlayersPlus members! Benefits and reasons why your guests should join as a Buzztime PlayersPlus member Chance to win cool prizes!!! Pick their own display name during games that show up on TV screens, Buzztime s website and on their social media accounts Track their points earned in games over time PlayersPlus points hold no monetary value and are for bragging rights only! Games played at any Buzztime location will add to the player s total points Points from certain games, like Buzztime Live Trivia, do not count towards PlayerPlus points totals Earn tons of badges that display on Buzztime s sites and on their Facebook page Customize their online profile with a cool avatar Join a public or private group to compete with friends across North America Start with double points when they are playing Texas Hold Em Earn points every time they play and even more when they beat certain point thresholds indifferent games. 17 PlayersPlus Members and Registration for Your Guests This is a one-time request and should be no big deal to players, but make sure to tell them to put in their correct age or they may not be able to register in our PlayersPlus program Enter a Display Name, and then click Next Display names are what shows up on the TV screens during games These are 2 to 6 characters in length and do not have to be unique 17

18 PlayersPlus Members and Registration for Your Guests Enter a Password, and then click Next Passwords are used along with usernames to log in to Buzztime s games and website in the future Passwords are 4 to 16 characters long and are case sensitive Enter an Address, click the box to agree to Buzztime s terms, and then click Done Buzztime sends players s in the future on prizes, promotions and more to get them pumped to play at your location 18

PlayerPlus membership registration on the Buzztime Mobile Playmaker App Download, install and open the Mobile Playmaker on your iphone or Android smartphone Click Create Account Enter your Username, Password, and Display Name like on other devices Additionally only on the Mobile Playmaker, enter your Postal Code or Zip Code Click Register and log in Select your location from the list of nearby Buzztime bars and restaurants, then start playing the current game The player has now been registered for PlayersPlus! PlayerPlus membership registration on the Buzztime.com Players Site Visit the player website Follow the links to Join the Buzztime Nation or Sign Me Up for Free Or just go to directly Enter your Username, Password, , Display Name and Postal Code like signing on themobile Playmaker Click the box to agree to the terms of service Click Create Account Enter your Date of Birth (required for legal reasons), and then click Submit Use the site to find your location from nearby Buzztime bars and restaurants The player has now been registered for PlayersPlus! PlayerPlus profile management on the Buzztime.com Players Site On our site, players can also edit their profile information for a Buzztime PlayersPlus account created on any Buzztime Tablet, Buzztime Mobile Playmaker App, or on buzztime. com by logging in Visit the site and click Player Login in the upper right corner of the screen Click Edit My Info in the upper right corner of the screen to manage your profile Update your account information or change your or password Add your full name, address, home phone number and mobile phone number 19

20 PlayersPlus Members and Registration for Your Guests Players must add address details if they win a Buzztime contest or sweepstakes and would like to receive their prize Add a Home Site to your profile or change your Home Site A Home Site is the Buzztime bar or restaurant location that you play at the most. By adding a location as your home site, you will start to show up on their local leaderboards on TV screens during games. You will also notice that when you play at your home site, you do not have the traveling icon next to your name on leaderboards. To add your Home Site in your PlayersPlus profile Go to the My Home Site section of your profile and click Select Find your location using our site finder and click on the little house icon next to it When the house is green, your home site is set Manage your Buzztime subscriptions or unsubscribe from future Buzztime s If you forgot your password and want to reset it, click Player Login in the upper right corner ofthe screen Click the Forgot Password? link, enter the address you used to set up your account with, and click Submit Click the Click to Reset Password button on the next screen Instructions to reset your password will be ed to you If you or a player does not receive this password reset for any reason, please contact our Customer Service team at for assistance 20

21 General Care, Troubleshooting Tips & How to Get Support Here are some important best practices that your location should follow to keep your Buzztime Tablet and Buzztime system running in tip-top shape and if you do run into any issues, we ll show you how to troubleshoot basic things that could happen and how to get help from our team if you need it. Buzztime has got you covered! BUZZTIME TABLET CHARGING Our Buzztime Tablets run on rechargeable batteries, so remember that they have to be charged each day. Charge your Buzztime Tablets overnight in the charging stations provided by Buzztime -- every night, so they are ready for the next day s play This is important not only for the battery but to make sure that your devices receive any software updates that may happen overnight from the Buzztime network To see how much a Tablet s battery is charged, remove it from the charging station, touch the screen and look in the lower right hand corner of the screen for the battery icon. The more green the battery is, more charged the Tablet is! If you see a read x, it is time for the charging station. When you put a Tablet in the charging station, make sure the side with the red and green light is showing and the red light is on. This indicates that the unit is charging. When the green light comes on, the Tablet is full charged. Tablets can only charge when the metal power panels on tablet devices and the charging station can make connection or touch each other. Sometimes, these metal panels on the device or within the charging station can get dirty, either from food, wing sauce or just plain old dust when this happens, a Tablet will not charge. Make sure to keep these metal power panels on your Tablets and charging station clean with a dry cloth and free of any debris for charging that works every time. Please note: tablets that have power are always on placing them in the charging station will not turn them off 21

22 General Care, Troubleshooting Tips & How to Get Support KEEPING YOUR BUZZTIME TABLETS CLEAN AND READY FOR GAMEPLAY Buzztime Tablets are designed to handle the sometimes wet, sometimes messy environment of a bar and restaurant we know you keep your place clean, but your guests can be expected to spill or drop a few things (from time to time). Buzztime has designed rugged devices that can take a pounding, but you can do a few things to keep your Tablets clean and ready for the next guest. It s a good rule of thumb to clean Tablets after use by each guest. This will not only keep your devices in great shape but make sure that the next guest will have a great Buzztime experience at your bar and restaurant Keeping a Buzztime Tablet clean is as simple as cleaning your other smartphone technology You can purchase special tablet cloths for dry cleaning If you get sauce or some other wet material on the tablet, simply use an alcohol-free wipe for electronic devices REPLACING A BROKEN BUZZTIME TABLET IS FAST AND EASY If you think that a Buzztime Tablet is broken (or if you have lost one), please contact our Customer Service center at for more help to determine if there is an issue we can help you solve remotely If you have confirmed that a Buzztime Tablet is broken, here s how you can report it, return it, and get a replacement device There is a slightly different repair and return process for current Buzztime Tablets vs. our Classic Blue Buzztime Tablets You will need to obtain a RMA or Return Machine Authorization number by calling our Customer Service team at Buzztime will ship you a Tablet replacement in advance to arrive in two business days, which will include a return label. Place the defective Tablet into the same box and apply the return label on the box, then schedule a pick up from FedEx or drop if off at your nearest FedEx location Buzztime must receive the defective Tablet within 14 days or your will be billed for the cost of the device YOUR BUZZTIME SITE PC COMPUTER Beyond caring for your Tablets, it is important that your local Buzztime computer or Site PC is always turned on and is always connected to the Internet This allows your guests to play games with fresh questions (and report their registration information, scores and your locations rankings back to our network) 22

23 General Care, Troubleshooting Tips & How to Get Support This is doubly important if you want your guests to play any of our real-time games This also ensures that Buzztime can send important software updates to your Site PC and your Tablets from time to time Your Site PC also must be turned on and connected to the Internet to display any new Digital Signage ads on your TVs that you may have created on our customer portal TROUBLESHOOTING BUZZTIME SYSTEM ISSUES If your location is experiencing any issues with your Buzztime system, please contact our Customer Service center at we will work with you to solve the issue quickly!
