2 DESIGN INSPIRATION 2 Our challenge was to produce a contemporary version of a conventional Japanese Samurai theme. By mixing a traditional soundtrack with hip-hop beats, a tearinducing landscape and theatrical artwork with a manga-inspired twist, we produced Samurai Split! The usual splitting a 5-of-a-kind win and awarding players 10-of-a-kind wasn t going to cut it for this game. We found our solution by working on the principles of multiples with increasing multipliers available for each split! The next challenge was to match the visuals and sound with the perfect game math and model We d seen split symbols done before and have white-boarded endless possible scenarios, but we needed to enhance the standard approach. And what better character to jump into the action and split things up than our quirky Samurai warrior? We visualized an endearing and brave character that would stir up a desire for victory, appearing frequently to split symbols and ultimately bring great fortune and wealth to the players.
