Use any program to Create 3 logos for your team 3. Use one or two fonts 4. Incorporate your Team Colors 5. Print color See page 17 of the packet for an example of the logos Look at it from a distance Think about layering Use snap to Use Grouping Use the Transparency tool

3 Excel to Word Table of Team Roster 1. Column Headings-----First Name, Last Name, Position, Height, Weight, Uniform Number 2. Using the Internet, go to your league s web site a. Pick any team in the league b. Count the number of players on the team c. Call me over for instruction 3. Using the Internet, go to your leagues web site and/or hall of fame web site for your sport a. Fill in a team roster b. Use current players on team rosters or hall of fame athletes in your sport c. You can only use a maximum of 3 players from any one team d. Sort the team by position e. Call me over when finished First in Excel then to Word for Formatting Start the consistency now. Think of these pages as reports, based on spreadsheets See Page 19 of the packet for an example of the roster.

5 Word Letter to League Commissioner Use the internet to find 5 REAL local charity or fund raising events for the city where your team is located. Use your letterhead Paragraph 1 introduction letting the league know the events and fundraisers your team is planning to participate in. Paragraph 2 bulletted list of events Paragraph 3 tell about the positive relationship you hope to build in the community Address the letter to me find the league address for your professional league on the internet See Page 28 of the packet for an example of letter.

6 Word Press Release Open a Press Release Template Make a Press Release to announce 4 key players that will be playing for your team. 1. Put your team letterhead at the top of the page 2. The more interesting the headline the better chance you have of getting media coverage 3. The opening sentence of the second paragraph contains the most important information 4. Keep your message clear and to the point See Page 32 of the packet for an example of the press release A Press release is exactly what goes in the paper, make sure it is right.

7 Word Equipment Inventory List Research the internet for types of practice equipment used by your kind of team 1. Make a Table in Word that includes 10 (Ten) types of practice equipment your team would use and the quantity needed 2. Format the table using your team colors 3. Put your team logo at the top of the page 4. Below the logo center align the name of your team s training facility See page 35 of the packet for an example of the inventory list This can be done directly in Word. There is not much advantage to doing it in Excel first. Remember to format like you other reports

8 Word Player Personnel Form Search the internet for example personnel forms In Word create a Player Personnel form 1. Use color 2. Merge cells 3. Format the text, columns, and rows to make the table attractive 4. Put your team logo at the top of the page See Page 37 of the packet for an example of the Personnel Form

9 Excel Team Roster Use your team roster from Word to create a roster in Excel 1. Insert the current year and your team name in the title 2. Center and put in bold all the column headings 3. Sort in alphabetical order by last name & Print 4. Sort by roster number & Print See Page 44 of the packet for an example of the team roster

10 Excel Average Salary We want to find out what the average salary is for the players on your team You will use this information to make sure your ticket prices are appropriate and you team can be profitable. Internet search for salaries by position for the type of team you have. (For example: for a football team what salary do players make? A Quarterback, a Running Back, an Offensive Lineman, a Defensive Lineman, etc.) 1. Open your Team Roster spreadsheet from Excel 2. Change the name of the file to Average Salary and re-save 3. In cell G1 enter the column heading Salary 4. Bold and center align Salary to match the other column headings 5. In column G enter a salary for each player using amounts relevant to TODAY S salaries in your particular sport. This is money paid for playing for the team---not including outside endorsement money (only 3 players on your roster can have the same salary) 6. Format column G as currency showing the $ symbol and two decimal places 7. Enter a formula at the bottom of the salary column to find the average salary. Print Numbers See Page 47 of the packet for an example of the Average Salary

11 Word Season Schedule Use the internet to find the REAL names of fields, arenas, or stadiums for the league you are in You need the following number of games depending on your sport Football 16 games 8 home 8 away Basketball 32 games 16 home 16 away Baseball 32 games 16 home 16 away Soccer 30 games 15 home 15 away Any other Sport 30 games 15 home 15 away 1. Shade each row that contains away games 2. Format using your team s colors See Page 49 of the packet for an example of the Season Schedule

12 Excel Projected Revenue from Ticket Sales Search the internet to see how much teams in your league charge for their seats at a game. You will create a spreadsheet to project the revenue (sales) that your team will receive from ticket sales. 1. You need a minimum of 6 different ticket prices and seat locations 2. Use proper currency style 3. In Cell A1 include the name of your stadium 4. In A2 write: Based on a stadium seating capacity of 65, Format using your team s colors 6. Print BOTH the numbers and the formulas See Page 51 of the packet for an example of the Projected Revenue from Ticket Sales

13 Excel Top 5 Salaries Open Average Salary which you completed earlier 1. Change the file name to Top 5 Salaries and re-save 2. Change the heading 3. Delete Average salary row 4. Sort Salary from highest to lowest 5. Delete all of the rows that do not contain the top 5 salaries 6. Create a pie chart to show a comparison by last name of the top five paid players and their salaries 7. Show the legend to the right of the chart 8. Show values (salary amounts) on the pie chart 9. Make sure to put the chart on a separate page See Page 53 of the packet for an example of the Top 5 Salaries

14 Publisher Business Card Make a business card with your name on it as team owner 1. Use the rectangle tool to draw a rectangle 2 high wide. 2. Give the rectangle a 1 point thick border 3. Place the rectangle in the middle of your page 4. The team logo should be the largest thing on the card 5. Your name should be the second largest thing on the card 6. Use a maximum of 1 or 2 fonts 7. Complete a business card See Page 58 of the packet for an example of the Business Card

15 Publisher VIP Pass 1. Use the rectangle tool to draw a rectangle 4.75 high wide. 2. Give the rectangle a 1 point thick border 3. Place the rectangle in the middle of your page 4. 16 Publisher Design a Fan T-Shirt 1. Find a t-shirt outline on the internet 2. Copy and paste it into publisher 3. Do not clutter the design with too much text or too many graphic images. Keep it clean and simple 4. Create a catchy slogan that really makes this shirt a must have for your fans See Page 66 of the packet for an example of the Fan T-shirt

17 Publisher Magazine Ad With the season ready to begin you need to create some excitement for your team s home game opener. This magazine ad will be placed in publications throughout the city and state your team is in. 1. Use the rectangle tool to draw a rectangle 7 high wide. 2. Place the rectangle in the middle of your page 3. Your advertisement must grab the reader s attention with an easy to read dominant message 4. Search the internet for examples of 1 page magazine ads for sports teams 5. Your message and the team logo should be the two most prominent elements on the ad 6. Use a maximum of one or two fonts See Page 70 of the packet for an example of the Magazine Ad

18 Publisher Cereal Box Ad Your league has an advertising deal with a cereal company to showcase each team in the league on the back of the box. This month it is your team s turn---create an ad to go on the back of the box to help build your teams fan base. The ad should highlight facts that would appeal to both adults and kids. 1. Search the internet for some ads that appear on the back of cereal boxes 2. Use the rectangle tool to draw a rectangle 10.5 high wide. 3. Give the rectangle a 1 point thick border 4. Keep the use of fonts to a minimum to not make the box look busy and hard to read 5. Use Decorative borders 6. Use Shaded areas 7. Use Graphic images See Page 74 of the packet for an example of the cereal box ad

Use a background the best matches your team colors 2. Apply a custom animation to 3 objects in the slideshow 3. Keep slide transitions the same 4. Include the team logo 5. Choose graphics that are consistent in style, design, color, and size 6.
