5 Dividing Fractions Using Pattern Blocks Make a flip chart as the one provided making sure you have three sections to work with. Draw a Dividing Fractions Problem Card. Write the problem number in the corner of one of your outside sections. Use the fraction pattern blocks to model the problem. (Use the hexagon as one whole.) After modeling the problem, trace the model on the front part of one of the sections. Open the first fold. On the top part of the fold, write the answer to your problem. On the bottom part, explain how you got your answer. Remember when dividing a fraction by a fraction to read the problem as saying How many 6 are in? 6 is the same 5.NF.6
